I j...That's a fascinating bit of history, Iain. I just finished reading Symonds' 'World War II at Sea' and he went into great length on the strategic significance of the LST/LCT and their variants. By all accounts they worked like Trojans to keep these beachheads supplied, often to complete physical and mental exhaustion.
