From RichardM - Napoleonic Saxon Artillery and Italian Cavalry 6mm Adler - 125 points

This time I have some more of the Adler Napoleonic project as I finish out nations.

First up is some Italian Cavalry.  Two regiments of Cacciatore a Cavallo (their version of Chasseurs) and one of Dragoons - specifically the Reggimento Dragoni ‘Regina'.  I selected  the Regina Dragoons as I am bored with green facings and these guys had pink - as if I'll see them on a table ;).

I have used French Chasseurs and Dragoons which aren't exactly correct but as Adler make no Italian specific figures and I won't tell anyone that they're wrong, I think I am in the clear.

Then I have the artillery and some limber teams to support my 29 Battalions of Saxon Infantry already painted.

Points

Cavalry - 3 regiments of 20 figures - 60 points

Limber teams - 4 of 4 mounted and 1 limber  - 20 points

Artillery - 15 bases of 4 figures and one gun - 45 points

From Millsy: Great looking Saxons and Italians Richard! There's very little difference in the uniforms between most French and Italian troops even at 28mm so at this scale I can't imagine even the most dedicated rivet counter being able to call out what's wrong. The pick for me are the Chasseurs with their lovely purple facing colours but they're all wonderful. You must be able to put on some seriously large battles with so many battalions.

Bringing us to the next two sections in the final room via the library cart are two more May queen dancers. These were also painted using Foundry skin triads, ProAcrylic whites, Vallejo Ivory and several contrast paints for the wreaths.

That sickle looks rather sharp...

Now in the biography section, we present a deceased former ruler of a East Asian country.

Leader Looking At Flowers

This is another Hasslefree miniature I picked up for no reason I can remember back in 2014. He was painted using Foundry acrylics.

The final general section of the library we will visit is the Cooking section. Leading us there is our final May Queen dancer:

And a shot of all the may queen dancers together...

Next we present the efforts of a tireless Goblin cook preparing some fresh seafood for the unworthy masses. He is eagerly using his new Necromancer Magic Cookbook, "The joy of cooking really fresh meat". Of course properly aged meat can still be used for an accent...

This rather large 32mm Goblin model was originally from Magnificent Egos but is now sold by Valiant Miniatures. A wonderfully dynamic model it needed a bit of putty work to assemble. This is a friends model I am painting for a Goblin oriented D&D campaign. At some point the left arm was lost and I had to improvise with a plastic human one. Bit of sanding, some glue painted on to soften the lines and he is good as new with a book! It was painted using Vallejo metals, Foundry & Two Thin Coats acrylics and Pro Acrylics Fluorescent paints.

Points: 80

4 28mm figures @ 5 = 20
Library cart - 20
Biography - 20
Cooking - 20

1 Skull (and crossbones).

From Millsy: Whilst your "similar to but legally distinguishable from" Asian leader made me laugh, the pick of this post is the goblin. What a wonderfully dynamic and characterful sculpt that is! He's beautifully painted too Tom and will be a real centrepiece for your D&D campaign.

From StephenS: Out with the old, and in with new... [Overdues and Returns] (30 points)

G'day All,

This entry is a return rather than anything overdue, despite having had the miniature in question for a few years.

My original Mighty Zug

Probably the first miniature I ever finished and felt like I was finally getting the hang of this 'painting thing' was the old 'Mighty Zug' miniature for Blood Bowl back around 1994/95. I still have that figure, despite all the adventures since my teenage years.

However, nothing stays the same forever, and it is time to retire my old figure and replace him with the latest version. Hopefully, it also looks like my painting has improved a little bit over the last 30 years (I'm feeling old writing this post).

The new 'Might Zug' is a 32mm resin figure from Games Workshop, and is accompanied by a test figure I did for the human team I'm working on (alongside a few other teams) also from Games Workshop.

Never fear, both versions will no doubt hit the table together, maybe the older wiser head will take on a coaching role...

2 x 32mm figures and a location bonus should be 30 points.

Cheers,

From Millsy: I remember the old Mighty Zug and what a character he was! So cool that you have him in your collection still mate and his paint job has really stood the test of time. The new additions sit very comfortably alongside old Zug so maybe we could fill some sort of player/coach role now? Great stuff and thanks for the trip down memory lane.

From AlanD - Palmyran Infantry (105 points)

Production in the Paining Challenge has slowed a bit recently as the term gets busier. However, this week I manged to get a couple of bases of Palmyran infantry finished for my To The Strongest! army.

The figures are from A&A, and at the risk of repeating what I say in every post: I really love painting them! The hand painted banner depicts Baalshamin, one of the main gods of Palmyra. 20 figures in total, so 100 points please Millsy!

From Millsy: Every unit you add to this army is a treat to see Alan. There's so much to like about these from the basing, to the palette, to the hand painted shields and banner once again. I'm really keen to see a photo of the force at the end of the Challenge so we can see it in all it's glory. Cracking work!
