Space dwarves and trucks-DavidB(110 points)

So these are the last of the fanatic turquoise painted troops and were done with the swooping hawks, they just had their metallic and final detail completed. I still have the original box of Space Dwarves which were also unfortunately called squats. At least GW brought them back as the League of Votann or somesuch, but the are still Space Dwarves to me. This is a kill team of space dwarves. I used the color scheme I wanted for the Van Saar gang on them. I really like there high tech look and still they hit the same notes as the classic dwarves from RT. They have bikers, ancestors, and more...but they look a lot cleaner and less dirty biker.

They are a treat to paint and I had a great time picking out details on them.

They have a pugilist although i gave him a pistol and an axe too. An explosive specialist and a standard fighter with helmet down.

a couple of gunners for fire power and plasma sort of weapons are common for them.

a commo grunt and pathfinder to flank the jarl

Then a back shot of the jump trooper and baggage carrier.

I may try to get another box as I assembled them without trying to mini max the force and went for the rule of cool with them. My favorite is the fellow lugging all the gear for the squad.
I used this truck for the new Blackout game troops, but I also upscaled it on the 3D printer and thought of using it for my genestealer cult force, Imperial Guard, and Necromundia. It is a beast and I do like this truck a lot. I will print more as they will be welcome in most of my forces.

I went with Fantaic desaturated greens and watered them down for an airbrush test.

after a brush highlight I used some of the valeijo rust effect paints to weather it up with scratches, dents and dings.

I did not dust up the tires on this one and tried to give it a worn but clean look.

just three brown paints and i achieved a nice worn chipped paint look

just to show it is upscaled from the previous ones

I did not print up the turret as i want to fabricate a mining impliment at some point for this brute.

The current operators have used it to crush all sorts of obstacles but still wash it on occasion.
I do hate painting vehicles, but I do like how this one turned out.
And here is the current owners of the behemoth

My squad of necromunda prospectors need a ride in the ash wastes and this truck can carry the whole crew. the boss miner has a nice white hard hat so the crew knows the supervisor is on scene.

The champion is sporting a blue safety hard hat because the space dwarves or OSHA compliant... and a niffty bearded skull buckle to match with the soldiers leading off this post.

Two green horns wearing the green hard hats of newbs soo the safety guy knows who may be doing something wrong

an orange helmeted machinist sporting a squad support weapon and supported by three yellow hat crew provide the heart of this workforce.

I used a pale grey for their armour and all wear denim and leather. I made the sleeves of these last four look like flexible rubber. These are definitely only the start of this gang as i do like them a lot and would like to get more to add to the work force.
The only reason there is no more space dwarves in this post is I have none left to paint.

so  that is 10 space dwarves for 50 points
8 miners for 40 plus 8 more skulls
the a rough used but clean truck for 20
new skull tally of 141 and 110 points

--------
That turquoise is quite striking but the stand out in this submission for me is the printed truck, which reminds me of something from the post-apoc Fallout game series. Would make a great He3 moon prospector with those gigantic wheels too!

From JamesM: Necromunda assortment (79 points)

Hey folks,

Some more models for my Necromunda collection, taken from my painting shelf, where they've been 'resting' for over a year.

First up, a small group of Goliath gangers. The two larger ones are Goliath Stimmers, gang champions, while the more diminutive guy is a Forgeborn - the Goliath version of a 'prospect' - almost like a juve champion.

Histerically, I hadn't written down how I'd painted the rest of this gang. Thankfully I used Vallejo Xpress paints, so the options were limited.

So far in our ongoing campaign, the Goliaths have done well. They have above-average strength and toughness and decent armour. Some of these chaps will be added to my gang once they've enough credits to buy them.

Next up, some Hive Scum and Bounty Hunters. The chap in yellow is a 3d print proxy, the beastman is a Forgeworld model and the other two are plastic hive scum models.

I'm sure the guy in yellow and black armour has nothing to do with the fact that the Imperial Fist Space Marine chapter has a fortress on the planet, and recruits from the underhive...

Next, a random model. A conversion I made from an Age of Sigmar figure that came free with a magazine (because #everymodelisanecromundamodel). I've painted her as an Imperial official - maybe she's an Enforcer Judge or Sister of Battle. Or maybe just a senior bodyguard from some Sisters of Battle order.

She still has some gloss, as I'm awaiting appropriate 40k decals (which may or may not include Ordo Hereticus markings).

Lastly, a small herd (coven?) of cultists:

Useful for a whole range of scenarios.

13 x 28mm models = 65pts
2 x 40mm models (for the big Goliaths) = 14pts

Total = 79pts

TeemuL: Nice to see your well rested models so well painted, James! A nice and varied entry, but still everything is for Necromunda. I was wondering, if you can finish this entry in time and if I wake up early enough to post this in Canadian Thursday, but it all sorted out! Good work, and don't worry too much about the paint recipes, it is unlikely that Necromunda gangs would be uniformally dressed anyway?

From Barks: Journey through the spheres (Wise, Warriors of Faith, Just Rulers, Contemplative) (130 points)

I have a selection of figures today to propel me around the last of the spheres of Paradise.

To get me there, I summoned Sarah with these Sci-fi civilians I made from assorted Stargrave kits. I love putting these together and matching bits, and then experimenting with colours I don't often use. The fifth civilian is made with a Fireforge zombie body (hence the unhealthy legs). I think she lives somewhere in the ash wastes protecting her claim.

My favourite is the surrendering one in green...

Sarah Connor vibes.

The Wise

You can tell this person is wise, just look at the size of their brain! Surely it won't implode and release warp daemons everywhere. He's made from the excellent Frostgrave wizard sprue, with a spare head I had.

The Warriors of Faith

Hot on his heels are these two thugs warriors of faith. The photos make me think I should redo the robe highlights.

1998 metals

The Just Ruler

Faramir. What a guy. Briefly the Steward of Gondor before some smelly ranger waves some jewellery about and claims he's the long-lost king.

2003 metal sculpt

Contemplative

I liked painting this Genestealer Cult character, who is Contemplating the plan of attack on this awesome hovering holo-map. I used Contrast Aethermatic Blue for the hologram. I'm thinking of adding somemorehighlightsand glow, but don't want to ruin it. The building complex is based on Warhammer World in Nottingham- a little Easter Egg.

That completes my journey though Hell and Paradise!

10x 28mm figures (50 points)

4 x locations (80 points)

Side Duels:

Squirrel +1 (sci-fi civilians)

Skull Duel +6 (total 18)

From Millsy:

What a great collection of painted miniatures and I love how you have aligned them to the various spheres mate. I've been very tempted by that Genestealer character myself for some time. It's a great sculpt with loads of interest and the composition is excellent. There's so much story telling going on there.

The warriors of faith are really cool too and I'm pleased to see you sticking with canon by painting hazard stripes on the chainsword. If ever there was pointless and redundant safety labelling this is it!

130 pointeriffic points for your tally sir!

Cheers,
Millsy
