From TobiasK: Carts and witchcraft (80 points)

I painted up more medieval / fantasy miniatures for this week's entry.

As an addition to Piers the Ploughman, I chose two carts from 1st Corps. Lovely miniatures, which can be used as mission objectives or simply as scatter terrain.

Because I was in the mood to paint, I added some witchcraft to this week's entry. Witches Coven by Warmonger Miniatures, to be precise.

Great looking carts and livestock you have here Tobias, but for me the pick of the bunch are the witches and the cauldron. Fit to grace the stage in a certain Scottish play, these will do equally well on the table I'm sure. Warmonger do some great stuff and I'm pleased to see their kit getting some love.

I'm not sure if it was deliberate, but I like the way you've carried the purple and green from the witches' garb into the colour of their brew. I can only imagine what kind of punch that must pack given the colour!

From AdamC: O'Grady's Gulch Warmonger Halbardiers (61 Points)

These are 10mm Landsknechte Halbardiers from Warmonger Miniatures a local company here in Massachusetts that I have shown before here in previous challengers.  I kept this set simple Blue tunic with red highlights.

The pants are done in red with yellow Highlights and yellow feathers.  I've had these for a while but they now have a cause worthy of them.  These boys are heading over to the UK to join the Army of Light as Part of James' project to memorialise his son.  There aren't enough here for an army but they'll be a fine addition to some army or other and I hope James will accept this small contribution.

I got as close as I could to James' basing requirements from what I had at home.  I had to glue two bases together to get the frontage.  I've used white glue so James should have no problem re-basing them. 10mm miniatures are 1 point per man for 30 points and another 30 points for the miniatures painted for a friend so 60 Points in total.


Oooh! Those do look rather spiffing in their primary colours. And all for a great project (note to self - need to paint my contribution at some point).
The only fault I can find with your scoring for these is that you forgot to add a point for the hand-painted flag, so that brings your total for this entry to 61 points!

From SanderS & MichaelA: "Yes M'Lady" or 'Project L, 2.0!' (35 Points Each)

I don't know how this happened again, but it has!  There I was minding my own business, preparing some Moria Goblins for my Curtgeld, when a message from Sander popped up in my inbox.  "Hoi, Michael, look what I've found", or words to that effect, and as I scrolled down the message I couldn't help but roar with laughter when I saw the subject of his exclamation.  

It would appear that the Die Herausforderer (The Challengers) are the gag that keeps on giving as Sander has found a set of Orc Landsknechts, oh yes he has!  Sander had agreed to purchase a set and send me one figure to paint, along with my Moria Goblins and he would paint the other three.  The Landsknecht of course had to be painted in the now legendary yellow and purple livery.

They were then all to be reunited at which point I would base them and send them on to our beloved Snowlord.  Well that was the plan, but time has got away from us slightly.  Still, just in the nick of time, the Orcs have been reunited and I am thankfully able to present a collaborative effort from myself and Sander.

Once again I am indebted to Sander who even at a particular difficult time has brought a smile to face.

I leave you with Sander's immortal line, which has now been proved to be an utter fabrication, "I will never paint Landsknecht ever again!"

Yup, it went pretty much as Michael described above. Curt just has this knack of getting me to paint bloody Landsknechts, I had actually found another Landsknecht themed vignette before the Challenge started but that was out of stock so I was at a loss for a suitable Curtgeld submission. To add to this problem Michael had stated he wouldn't be taking part in the Challenge this year and that was a big bummer as well. Luckily some higher force coerced...erm..bribed....persuaded (that's the word!) Michael to enter the Challenge anyway so there we were. Curt came up with the notion he wanted Orcs and so I jumped for joy remembering I had seen some Orc Landsknechts at the Warmonger Miniatures site. The rest as they say is History (sorry Michael I couldn't resist that bad pun).

Okay, long story short: the figures are at Awdry Towers and will soon find their way over to Canada and it's freezing cold. This leaves me with just one thing to do: thenak Curt for setting up and hosting this Challenge yet again and thanking Michael for being one of the best (Hobby) friends a dumb Dutchie could ask for: on to next years Challenge I'm off to bed I'm knackered!

 
If I understand correctly, each of you has painted three figures of Curtgeld? That's 35 points each, if I'm not mistaken. And those orcish Landsknechts are magnificent! Those colours are great, wonderfully executed, and hopefully Curt will throw out all his boring humans* and start collecting period orcs!

From Adamc- 10mm Arquebusiers (30 Points)

 30 more Arquebusiers Landsknecht troops.  I split the two men strips up so I could give these stands a more ragged appearance.

 First up is the green and black reminiscent of Jager units of latter days.

 Not as colorful as the others but still the yellow feathers give them a little dash.

 The Wasp Company in yellow and black as I have called it.

 The brightest and unit in the group and my favorite of the bunch.

 Blue and Pink the final company of Arquebusiers I figure these troops will work as skirmishers screening the Tercios or covering the rough ground on the flanks.

Thats 30 10mm troops for another 30 points assuming I got them in under the wire.

You did indeed get them in under the wire Adam.  I figured that I hadn't seen the last of you today.  These Warmonger figures look very nice and I like the way that you've based them.  The Blue and Pink unit is my favourite.

AdamC- Two and Two-Thirds Tercio (120 points)

  These are 10mm figures form Warmonger Miniatures a local company in Worcester MA that I supported via the Kickstarter they have a small line of landsknecht troops.  There are 60 Pikemen and 60 arquebusiers.

 The Front two stands each with 20 Arquebusiers are in gray and red...

 They are painted to match a unit of Pikemen I painted a few years ago.

 The second groups is 30 Pike men in brown with orange in the slashes typical of the landsknecht uniforms.

 The two sleeves of arquebusiers are in matching uniforms.

 One of the things I love about this set is the musician is a fiefer not a drummer.

 Here we  have the last group another 30 pikemen in golden brown and with blue in the slashes

 Hear are the two sleeves of arquebusiers are show form the rear since you saw the other guys from the front.

 Rear of the pike men, the flags are hand painted.  This isn't my best work but it is only the second time I have worked in this scale and the detail on these small figures is impressive, I think they have more detail then many 15mm figures.  I think I might need to give them a wash I can't recall if I did or not with the last set or note.  Any way please check out Warmonger they have great products. Something I didn't expect Adam, nice looking Tercios.  It's nice to see some other P&S figures on the challenge blog.  I wasn't aware of Warmonger, but will be checking them out.  I have painted 10mm, for WW2 but that was years ago.  There is a lot of detail to bring out on these Warmonger figs.  I like the plumes on the hats and the units look great with the pikes all bunched up like that.

Well done for 120 points.  I had to check the rules for the scoring since these are my first 10mms on the Challenge.
