Here are a couple of figures from Crooked Dice for the 7TV game.
Welcome to the Painting Challenge. Here you will find the fabulous, fevered work of miniature painters from around the world. While participants come from every ethnicity, gender, age and nationality, they have three things in common: they love miniatures, they enjoy a supportive community, and they want to set themselves against the Challenge. This site features the current year's event along with the archives of past Painting Challenges. Enjoy your visit and remember to come back soon.

Here are a couple of figures from Crooked Dice for the 7TV game.
I had this post ready on Saturday, hoping to avoid being cut from the AHPC XIV roster. However, as my posting day is Tuesday I am too late. I have many figures in progress, but nothing posted yet.
These Minions are certainly not as friendly as the AHPC Minions. They are 28mm miniatures from Crooked Dice. They are intended for the 7TV game. They could also be used in many other games (Pulp Alley etc.), although they would probably arrive too late to influence the game!
Blink!
Actually, don't blink!
These are no Christmas Angels.
Followers of Doctor Who will know that they are Weeping Angels. These appeared in the TV episode named "Blink", as well as some later episodes.
They look like stone statues, but move rapidly when not being watched. One touch from a Weeping Angel and you will be transported back in time to live out your life from then on. So don't blink!
I suppose if you were only transported back a few years you may still be able to participate in the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge, but more likely you would find yourself in a dark time before the Snow Lord created the Challenge.
The figures are from packs that were originally given away with the Doctor Who Adventures magazines. I managed to buy some on eBay a few years ago.
These models are made of soft plastic so do not take paint very well. After a good wash with dish soap and water, they were given a couple of brushed-on coats of matt white paint.
I used two applications of Citadel contrast paint Apothecary White (actually grey) to get the effect I wanted - Grey, but with quite a lot of white showing. I think they will be fine to add to my collection of Doctor Who figures.
At least these four figures and the Black and White location bonus get me some easy early points.
Points estimate:
4 x 28mm figures @ 5 points each = 20
Black & White studio location bonus = 20
Total = 40 points
I am not sure which studio location to visit next, maybe a ride in Lady Sarah's Limousine will give me time to decide.
This is my 8th time in the Analogue Painting Challenge. Maybe I will hit my more modest target of 400 points this time!
I enjoyed seeing the posts of the painting tables / hobby spaces that several challengers shared. Here is my table after it was tidied up, ready to start this year's challenge. It is in my hobby / store room in the basement. I have a daylight lamp that works well, as well as a magnifier lamp for occasional use.

How long will it stay this tidy? |
Here is my wife's gingerbread creation for this year - a Victorian House. Perhaps I could use it later as game scenery for a Doctor Who scenario based on the old house in the "Blink" TV episode!

Wow, great looking gingerbread house (acreage?). It looks both cozy and architecturally delicious.
Good one with using the 'Weeping Angels' for the Black & White theme. They look very creepy and their 'superpower' is more than a bit unsettling. I love that you got them from one of those magazines promoting Dr. Who. (I have a bunch of LotR figures from those Eaglemoss magazines and they're actually quite characterful and well done.) I'm looking forward to your figure for Lady Sarah's Limousine
Merry Christmas, Jonathan!

Sarah's Star Yacht:
I was enjoying life in my luxury suite aboard Sarah's Star Yacht, listening to music and slowly painting some of my miniatures.
"I wonder what is delaying the delivery of my in-suite dinner?" I thought.
Just then the door slid open and a young lady entered. She was not wearing the normal crew uniform, but a bright red outfit. She had a serious look on her face.
"It is time!" she said.
"Time for what? Where is my evening meal?"
"No time for that, you have to go to Skaro and submit your first report.
"But - Skaro? The planet of the Da....."
"Yes, that or face "The Cut"", she interrupted. Commander Campbell's orders"
Worried, I replied "I thought I could just slowly paint all my old school miniatures as I listen to my old records and submit everything in a last minute rush?" I looked at the old vinyl record I was about to play - specially selected for listening during Challenge XII cruise. It seemed like it might have to wait. "What does "The Cut", involve?" I asked nervously.
She smiled. "I'd be happy to show you". She drew a large sword from behind her back and expertly swooshed it around the room.
"Careful! I don't want to have to pay for damages"
"That will be the least of your worries"
"Okay, I'll go to Skaro and submit a report" I said, thinking that at least I had a slightly better chance of survival if I did. "This is not quite the luxury cruise I thought I was on"
"It is a Challenge, you should have read the fine print in your contract. I'll escort you via shuttle to Skaro." She took a disappointed look at her sword and returned it to the case behind her back. "Another member of my team will bring you back once you have submitted your report. Let's go!"
Skaro:
"Davros has survived through the millennia and appears to have regained control of at least some Daleks. I count 5 Daleks who are currently listening to his directions. You need to alert The Doctor before Davros and the Daleks create more havoc across the universe" I hit SEND on my tablet to transmit my report. I then sent a signal for the shuttle to take me back to Sarah's Star Yacht.
As I moved from my hiding place to head to the rendezvous point, I realised that I had been spotted.
"Stop him! The Doctor must not find out that I have returned!" yelled Davros.
"Exterminate! Exterminate!" responded the Daleks in unison.
Sarah's Star Yacht:
That was a close one, but I had avoided "The Cut" and Extermination.
I was escorted back to my suite by another member of "the team". "Next we are heading to Vulcan on the far side of the Outer Ring, so you will have plenty of time to be ready to submit your next report. We'll be making a logistics stop there"
"Sounds logical" I said with a smile.
No response.
"Wait... next report?"
"Yes, it is due on Tuesday". It was the first "team member" who had joined us. "Tamsin is counting on you to make a contribution to the Team Tuesday points total, and don't forget your Challenge target is 1000. You need to pick up the pace!"
"There seem to be a lot of rules, are you two here to make sure Challengers abide by them?" I asked.
"Yes, we ensure compliance with Challenge Cult Rules" said the second "team member".
"Challenge Community Guidelines", her team mate corrected her.
"I had better get back to the brushes then" I replied. "Any chance of dinner?".
They looked at each other, then turned to leave "See you on Tuesday" said the second team member as the door slid open.
"All this travelling through time and space and submitting reports is going to be harder than the cruise I was expecting" I thought. "Why are they being so hard on me? It is not like I ate any of the orange crayons or tried to claim bonus points for painting a female Dalek." I turned on the digital music system and looked for something new to listen to while I painted my miniatures.
"Oh! The latest episode of the Canadian Wargamer Podcast, Episode #23,352 is available - that will be perfect!"
*******
Phew! I am still in the Challenge - just! Still waiting for dinner though!
For points:
5 Daleks and Davros 28mm from Warlord = 30
2 Daughters of SHIVA 28mm from Crooked Dice = 10
Locations: Skaro and two trips on Sarah's Star Yacht = 60
Total: 100 points.
Next stop Vulcan
See you on Tuesday!
From DaveD
Ooh and under the wire alright and dodging the sharp blade of the Cutter , Tamsin will be pleased.
You are off and running at 100 points
I did not intend to do a really late post, but I realised that I still had time to make my points target. I finished off a few figures that were in progress and completed a few more. This is a bit of fun to finish off with and I hope you won't mind if I visit 5 additional locations in the one post.
I present some miniatures from the Little Soldier Company that were based on the characters from the children's books and TV series "The SAGAS of Noggin the Nog".
At the Hall of Heroes we have Noggin and queen Nooka:
Retracing my steps through rooms already visited, I get to the Hatchery. Here we find Nogbad the Bad and his crows hatching a plan:
At the Armoury there are two Nog soldiers:
The Gallery of Ancestors features Noggin's parents King Knut and Queen Grunhilda:
Finally in the Guardroom, NOT keeping a close eye on the treasures of the Nogs are these two sleeping Nog sentries:
The whole group:
I had planned to complete all the figures during the challenge, but plans change! At least I got most done for this final entry.
So 10 x 28mm figures = 50 points , plus 5 x 20 for new locations visited = 100 bonus points. For a grand total of 150 points to take me comfortably over my target. Hurrah!
Thanks to Curt for allowing me to participate in another enjoyable Painting Challenge. Thanks to Sarah for continuing to support this madness! This could not be so awesome and big without the wonderful Minions - thanks to you all. Finally well done all participants and thanks for sharing your superb painting, interesting and amusing stories as well as for supporting each other on this journey through the Chambers of Challenge XI.
Cheers,
Jonathan
Well I made it to the Altar of The Snowlord and here is my submission. Finally some of my old school Assyrian Cavalry have been completed.
These are Lamming miniatures 25mm figures. The horses are larger that some 28mm figure ranges. I really like these figures. The base is a 120mm x 80mm chunky base provided by ScottM. I added a few tufts to enhance the base and distract from my sloppy painting.
This should give me 60 points (4 cavalry x 10 plus 20 for the location bonus). It also allows me to claim my prize of the superb ECW gun and crew that Scott has painted for me. Thanks Scott!
Thank goodness for the bonus points from the various locations of the Chambers of Challenge. However, I am still 40 points shy of my target of 800 points. Can I get the figures I am currently working on done and posted before the end of the challenge tonight? Maybe, but maybe not....

Altar of the SnowLord (brought to you by the kids of Kinsmen Park South) |
Sorry folks (and Jonathan), this was supposed to go up yesterday, but life conspired against me. Suffice it to say that Jonathan is busily working on his entry as I publish this.
Jonathan, I understand that you need some old school cavalry for your Ancients collection. Well, let's see if you can show us a few Assyrians before the bell tolls.
My 6th and final post of the day! For the last location on level 3, before descending the stairs to the Altar of the Snowlord, I offer this Mutant Bug. This is from the Mantic Games Mars Attacks game.
