from RayR - Almansa 1707 - Charni and Castilla's Spanish Infantry Brigades 2mm 41 pts

Its back to the 2mm for my last post of the day and I've carried on where I left off last Saturday, with more colourful Spanish units.

This is Charni's Brigade who fought in the 1st line of the centre right of the battlefield.

The brigade is made up of the purple coated Castilla regt, the Light Blu coated Murcia, the grey coated Trujillo regt and the green coated Badajoz regt

Always get that purple out when you can, It doesn't happen often enough.

The next Brigade is Charni's Brigade

They also fought in the 1st line of the centre right of the battlefield, right next to Castillo's

Regiments in this brigade are the green coated Valladolid, the light blue coated Burgos, the grey coated Osuna and the red coated Sevilla.

I think I've enjoyed painting the Spanish infantry up the most, they're a delight to paint as they are so varied in colour, when they all on the field of battle they should be a sight to behold.

Why oh why didn't I find Irregular 2mm figures in my life before now, just think of all the money I'd have saved!!

These 8 bases will give me 40 points as they're 5 points each, the 2 brigadiers are worth 1/2 point each.
So all added together they come to 41 points.

More colourful little troops for your army. Nice work, Ray. It's difficult to tell at this scale, but it looks like they are all fully dressed too!

From Steve K. Ravenguard Reinforcements. 80 Points

Converting and sculpting stuff takes ages. It is also hard. These are things ive found out over the last few weeks.

So ive been busy adding to my Ravenguard collection for the Horus Heresy, as some may know, the models from forge world are insanely expensive, hence the need to buy some greenstuff and try my hand at making my own.

First up were 5 Mor Deythan. These are a specialist infiltration and sniper unit unique to the Ravenguard.  I have made my own weapons for these guys out of 3 seperate kits, and made the cloaks from greenstuff.

Once painted up I think ive just about got away with it!

I needed another character for my force, so created a |Legion Vigilator (master Sniper). Again, kitbashed, converted and a cloak made from greenstuff.

Again, once painted, I think he came out ok. Im not 100% happy with his camo cloak but... well it'll do.

Next up some vehicles.

The Rhino APC. always a bit of a classic design, I had to include at least one in my force.
in the picture below im using therapy putty as a mask for applying the white through an airbrush. It actually worked too!

I had great fun painting this one up, dont get me wrong, it took bloody ages but i enjoyed it non the less. ive learned lots about weathering recently, and although not perfect, its great trying new things like this.

The Sicaran
A beast of a tank. loved painting and weathering this one too. I even went so far as to magnetise the hatches and weapon sponsons, so I can change the weapon loadout.

Oh, and ive reached 2000 points for my HH force too!

So in total ive done:
6x 32mm figs
2x large vehicles

Anyway, thats me for another update. I hope you are all well, now I must paint these Picts.....

Steve

Great looking Ravenguard, and amazing conversions. Congratulations on hitting the 2000 point mark with your army, that's enough to game with and gives you a solid core to build on should you want to add more later.

I'm a sucker for the Heresy, and so I'm going to award some bonus points for the greenstuff work you did.

From RayR - Haitian Revolution - Royal Navy Landing Party 40pts

Its Haitian Revolution time!!
We had their leader Horatio Hornblower earlier on in the challenge.

so here we have his Royal Navy landing party.

The figures are from Britannia Miniatures that are available from Grubby Tanks.

These 8 will add 40 points to my total.

These fine naval gentlemen are all suitably attired (unlike your last entry...), ready to wrest control of Saint-Domingue from those French and their rebellious slaves. The Haitian revolution seems like quite an interesting period, with lots of betrayals, shifting loyalties and political backstabbing, giving you plenty of room for gaming small skirmishes and the occasional set-piece battle.
Cracking work on these 8 additions to your collection.

From ChrisW The Good, Bad, Ugly and Weird [441 points]

Limo ride to the International studio

For the limo ride, she can guide us

 International studio (two productions) [6 x 28mm]

So not one but two international films here, one the inspiration of the other. A total of 6 gunslingers. First up is a classic Spaghetti Western brought to you by Artizan miniatures. The second movie is a more recent entry from Korea (south) that is way over the top with humour and action. These figures came from Empress Miniatures.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

The Good, the Bad the weird

A cross over movie!

Back of Beyond Return to VSF Mars

First off, you may notice, that these are not Back of Beyond Bolsheviks, White Russians or even Chinese warlord cavalry. Those fine figures (around 72 more or less) remain untouched on my gaming table. I certainly thought I was going to do them this week, I sat down with them on Monday all ready to go, but colour choice indecision hit me (even though they have a limited colour range) and so I shifted focus to Mars, something I have done before and even recorded the colours used!

Hill Martians [20 x 28mm]

Keener eyes than mine might have noticed there are only 19 figures in the pictures above. Well somehow Bob here failed to make it to the light box.

So, here are all 20 Hill Martians

Canal Martian rocket launchers [2 crew served weapons & 5 crew 28mm]

Old Parroom Station miniatures, mostly, the two bald Martians are by RAFM. They had to sub in as rocket crew because the actual crew had already been painted years ago!

 Martian personalities [5 x 28mm]

The two swordsmen and the priest are by Parroom Station, the lady with the raised are is a Mithril miniatures Elf. The last figure was a freebee figure possibly from Alternative armies.

German lizards on Mars [10 x 28mm]

These are all RAFM figures. They hail from Venus but the Germans have decided to deploy them on Mars. They do have a chameleon like quality to their skin hence the orange/red tinge to their skin. They were to have had rifles but the Logistics officer seems to have mislaid them. So, instead, they have their native shields and 'traditional' weapons. These weapons are actually spars from the old GW Man O War game.

Frankenstein & his creations [8 x 28mm]

All but the really big monster are Pulp Figures miniatures. The big guy is a Reaper bones figure. So many scientists so few henchmen (I will get to them next week)

Mad science run amok [11 x 28mm figures]

Tell me how you feel about the transformation?

A real mix of figures, the monsters are all Crooked Dice while the mad scientists are Black Cat Bases. Some assembly required for the assistant and janitor, so a choice of mutations.
Failed(?) experiments

Calm, collected & cold hearted; the worst type of mad scientists!

Tekumel monsters (The Hlutrgú)     [14 x 20mm figures]

These figures come from the Tekumel Club operating in Kingston Ontario. A nice range of human figures that would look good in many fantasy games. He also has some interesting alien races, like these guys.

Points total this time

  • 20 points for the Limo ride
  • 20 points for the Studio
  • 300 points for 60 x 28mm foot
  • 45 points for 28mm Martian rocket & 5 crew
  • 56 points for 14 x 20mm

Total of  441 points

  33. Dwarf Roman style troops
  34. Hatchet/axe wielding maniacs
  35. Free range lunatics

Another fine assortment of strange and fantastical minis, Chris. I love the science projects, they look like they may have been a terrible accident or maybe terribly intentional. Should the Tekumel models have spears? It looks like their hands are all in a stabbing position, they just lack any kind of weapon.

Anyway, another massive boost to your already staggering totals, both for overall points and Squirrel side duels.
