From BrianC: We have Goblins, Pirates? Zombicide, Redneck, Corporate babes... (150pts)

This is another entry of a little of this, little of that miniatures. I need to get better with the speed paint skin colors. Oof! No bueno! Alright, let's get to it!

Here we have some Mantic Goblin warriors and archers. Gotta love the "Greenskins."

Goblin Warriors:

Rum and Bones Deckhands (Pirates?)

I will use this Copplestone Miniature for my Dante's Paradise Circle: The Inconstant. This mini is an example of us, human beings. We (male/female) all try to do our best and fall short plenty of times.

Here are a variety of miniatures. The female miniature is another Copplestone miniature. I painted another redneck miniature from Old Glory Miniatures and the last miniature is Auroch Totem Warrior from Alkemy Miniatures.

Lastly, another Zombicide Survivor miniature. This is Elena, she's a promo survivor from the game Wrath of Kings:

That's about it. Nothing really special. I'm still having a blast with the challenge and enjoy looking at all the other painted tabletop goodness! Keep at it!

28mm x 26 = 130pts.
1 Circle = 20pts.
TOTAL = 150pts.

Sylvain: Every time your post an entry, you take us on a grand tour of genres and periods. Many of your figurines have flamboyant colors and others just have lots of attitude. You really demonstrate with your brush that there is fun in diversity. Impressive post!

From FrederickC: American Civil War Cavalry (424 points)

My seventh submission of this year's challenge is a collection of 15mm American Civil War Cavalry, both Union and Confederate. The figures are from a variety of manufacturers, although I have only been able to identify those by Old Glory and Essex.  I think the bulk of the Union cavalry are by Falcon, but I am not certain regarding that. Perhaps some of the grognards in the group can provide some insight as to their origin.

With terrain being dropped from the point tally, I needed to do a last minute course change, and found all these figures in a box in one of my storage drawers, already primed and glued onto popsicle sticks for ease of handling. They had been prepped some thirty years ago when I was gaming with a group that did a lot of American Civil War using 'Johnnie Reb' rules, but for some reason (available time, family obligations, the new 'shiny', etc.) that was as far as they got. I had hoped to get this project finished for last Saturday, but other demands on my time resulted in them being only half done when the clock ran out.

As mentioned above they were already primed black with a rattle can. I then painted them with Vallejo acrylics. The Union cavalry was the easiest to paint, both in terms of the standard colour palette, and the poses. The Confederate cavalry was more challenging as I tried to put some variety into the uniform colours with different shades of brown and grey, plus some of the poses made it difficult to get the brush into some of the deeper recesses. Regarding the sculpts, I liked the Essex and Falcon(?) the best. The riders were separate from the horse and saddle, and the poses and detail were easy to paint. The Old Glory sculpts were much more animated, but the fit of the rider and saddle (which came as one piece) to the horse often had large gaps between the saddle cloth and the horse's body. I would also describe the sculpts as a bit more 'rough and ready'.

Here are the final results - four 15 figure Union cavalry regiments, one 15 figure dismounted Union cavalry regiment, one 15 figure Confederate cavalry regiment, two 11 figure Confederate cavalry regiments.

The points being claimed are as follows:

18 x 15mm foot figures @ 2 points each = 36 points

97 x 15mm 'mounted' figures @ 4 points each = 388 points

Total = 424 points

Thanks for stopping by.

As Sylvain is unavailable today, it's your stand-in Minion here, Frederick. Yes, I was a little disappointed at the exclusion of terrain this year too, but I must say that you have found a wonderful alternative! These 15mm ACW units certainly look good. The extra effort you put into the Confederates definitely shows, but the more regular Union troopers look very fine as well. I really like Essex 15mm figures (of course, I have some lying around somewhere...), but the other makes are nice models too.  And that's a very smart Union soldier in that photograph! I can't help you with identifying the unknown ones, but I can help you with your points. A whopping 424 are added to your tally!

AndrewB Season Opener Inferno Blitz! Limbo, Lust, Gluttony, and Greed! 260pts

Hello folks!   Sorry for the delay, but let’s get to posting!  I decided this year aside from a couple projects I’m working on, I’d blitz through the Inferno Challenge as best I could. Now that I’ve gotten some basing glue, here we go!

First is Limbo!   These are some Old Glory ‘voodoo’ warriors I acquired many years ago to attempt to play some good James Bond style Baron Zavoodie henchmen.  Alas, they’ve sat unpainted on washers for the better part of a decade, and I ran across them while digging for other projects, so here we go!  They’re quite characterful, despite lacking many different sculpts

The second circle provided me some trouble as I don’t have many figures which are particularly ‘Lusty’.  That said, I ran across this bundle of cave folk while shuffling through shelves, and here I am.  Not outright lusty, but she’s got her chest out, and the boys seem to be enjoying it, so here we are!  I’ll try and find some relevant 3D prints to come back here maybe.  In the meantime, it makes good sense in that monosyllabic, unshaven way.

Next, we have gluttony!  While trying to find a suitably rotund model, a four-legged friend knocked me on the knee with a stainless steel bowl, and then proceeded to eat the dog food I put inside with a vigor that would put the Cookie Monster to shame.  Bam! Gluttony!  Not sure where all these doggos are from, but they’re certainly hungry, and will certainly serve my games of 02 hundred well until I get the plastics in the box built and painted.

Moving right along to Greed, this group of unsavory bootleggers, loan sharks, and bookies along with some of their other flunky buddies   I like to think of these folks as side characters like Forrest Gump at some of history’s most notorious gangster moments, all with the dreams of bags of stolen cash. I even managed to sneak in a dashed my lady gangster for Lady Sarah, so that was fun to find.  We’ll see if crime really pays!

That’s about all I can get into this post, so look for more next week!  As for my points, I think we’ve got 13 Voodoo warriors for 65pts, four cave people for 20pts, seven puppies for 35pts, and 12 gangsters for 60pts.  There are four circles in the challenge for 80pts, and two women for Lady Sarah at 40pts.  This rounds me to an even 400, which I’ll need to be picking up the pace on!

See you all next week, and happy painting!

------

A fine opening Salvo there Andrew! I like the variety of figures you've been able to get done

I'm sure it was satisfying to finally get those Voodoo warriors completed too!

Unfortunately, there are no bonus points for female figures in this year's challenge.

65+20+35+60=180 + 80 bonus points = a total of 260

From AndrewB - War of the Roses! (175 points)

Back with a delayed post!   Life got in the way of the hobby for a bit, but I managed to squeak out some final points before the end!   A couple gaming buddies have been painting up figures for Hail Caesar, following how Seventh Son bases his minis, so I tossed in a couple units of Men at Arms, as well as an alternative command base!

The two units are loyal to Richard Neville, Earl of Salisbury.  In the event they need to represent someone else, I can swap out the central command base for the more generic one!  The flowers on the base are white, so players can tell right away on the tabletop these are Yorkists.

There’s 35 28mm figures, which should be 175pts.   Not the strongest ending, but it’s something!  Here’s to hoping for next year staying life-free for the challenge, we’ll break 2,000!

***

I must apologize once again for my cranial density (indeed, I must do so daily, it would seem), but who is the "Seventh Son", and what is it about his basing that attracted you to it? Is it odd or different somehow? I would love to know more!

Regardless, this lot of armoured crazies ready to whack people in the context of a conflict that I will never understand - but absolutely looks super cool - should fit right in! They look great Andrew. And while life may have been in the way, the main bit is that it continues, and you got some hobby stuff done in the face of whatever obstacles it has thrown your way.

Well done.
