Adventurer’s Landing, Mark Backhouse - Crossing the Sabis in 2mm! (26 points)

For the Adventurer’s Landing I decided that I wanted to do an experiment. I made some rivers from foam sheets for an earlier post and wanted to make some crossing troops for a Battle of the Sabis scenario in 57BC. Caesar’s army was taken by surprise by an attack by the ferocious Belgic tribes.
I made three 6” long sections of river. Two of the sections have tribes of crossing

The Nervii warriors were particularly fearsome and the Romans had to fight desperately until they were saved by the arrival of fresh raw legions with the baggage train. Their arrival swung the battle back in the Romans favour.

The Gauls are made from offcuts of craft foam with a covering of Polyfilla. The individual warriors are literally made out of pieces of grit from my sharp sand box. With a black undercoat and a few colours picked out it is amazing what impression these cheap materials can create!

The Romans are in for a shock!

I’ve added some trees and some larger formations of Belgic tribesmen to show how they will look in the scenario.

I’ve claimed 2 points per section of scratch built river and 20 for completing the challenge.
Total : 26 points
Cheers
Mark Backhouse

from RayR - The Chamber of Challenge - The Adventurers Landing (25 Points)

My first entry for Level 2 of The Chamber of Challenge and I've braved the drop and waves from the Aquifier, nearly falling off the page and washed ashore on Adventurers Landing.

As I said in my pervious post, this was originally going to be me entry into the Aquifer, but the lucky find of the Well, soon put pay to that.

Adventurers’ Landing: A chance to paint a landing on a home or foreign shore to collect some points. Try not to get your feet wet...

You certainly won't get your feet wet at my small pier and rowing boat, as you can see they're all in dry dock for a wash and brush up. They'll soon be sent back out to the river though don't panic!

Once again, I've had these so long, I don't remember when or where they were bought or from whom?
If anyone has any idea I'd love to know.

As to the points?
This is a difficult one...
The pier is 90mm long and the boat is 70mm long at its highest its only 35mm.
So I'm really not sure?

20 points for the Bonus
5 points for the terrain?
Mr Minion can you advise?

From MartinC American Civil War US Marines at Adventurers Landing (142pts)

So my previous detour was to have a US marine landing party. These are a little different as they are ACW US Marines. I made a decision with my ACW collection last year, not to buy more standard troops. So I bought some weird ones and the US Marines fall into that category. At the start of the war 1/3 of the marines joined the rebel side. The Marines fought at the 1st Bull Run and then mainly guarded naval bases

They are Crusader Miniatures and were a great unit to paint with white trousers and belts

I based them in swampy ground, there were no ACW amphibious landings

And a nice sized 24 figure unit

So 24 x 28mm figs - 120, 2 flags = 2, Chambers of Challenge bonus = 20pts = 142pts

------

While I'm no Marine, the Cap'n knows a thing or two about coming ashore and making a ruckus! Reckon your boys here will do that for you in spades.  Nice to see the Marines get some attention as they are often lost amongst the greater scale of the conflict. A very nice entry indeed Martin!

AdamC: Adventures Landing Lighthouse (25 points)

Welcome to 2021! Pretty much the same as 2020... For now.

This lighthouse is from the Black Seas terrain box generously gifted to me by Will Hunter for hosting on line games. It's located on top of a hill I made from foam last spring.
I created my own paint scheme for the light house each lighthouse is supposed to have it's own look so it can be easily identified day or night to guide ships to a safe landfall.
For points I'll count the lighthouse as a 25mm figure making this entry 25 with the points for the room.
