From MartinC: Another Bout of Randomness (235pts)

I've spent the week painting random figures. I was supposed to be painting 10mm Janissaries, but I wasn't feeling the love. Luckily, as most of you know, I buy figures cos I think they look cool and would be fun to paint. So I had some lying around that needed work.

Let's get the admin out of the way first. This is where I am on the studio tour

So if I take a limo ride to Superheroes I can complete the required journey to go and see the Snowlord in his directors chair.
So to start with we have a 75mm female duelist from Mr Lees. I've loved this figure since the 1st time I saw it on the website and had to buy it when Kyle moved on to other things. She is a stunner but the hard truth is that she is beyond my painting ability to do her the justice I wanted to. She needs a better face and much more embroidery. Still I did enjoy painting her.

As I have now arrived at Superheroes, this is one of my favourites. Rocket from Guardians of the Galaxy. This is a Hasslefree minitature (my favourite place for metal figures.) He was a joy.

Moving on the rest of the randomness and in no particular order

A Dr Robotnic type from Crooked Dice

Cool figure, no clue what to use it for. Will score him as a simple infantry man

Next another limo trip to the gift shop

These 2 cyberneticaly enhanced types are from Northstar and will add to the Sci Fi madness

really like the female figure in blue
Some of you may have heard of my legendary game of Necromunda, the one where I only rolled 1s for 4 hours. Well James is currently assembling numerous gangs to go with his excellent terrain. He has a motto of everything is Necromunda. With that in mind I thought I'd gift him this figure

It's a frostgrave engineer, but will work well as a tinkerer in any age

the cogs etc are bits of old watches

Next up some fantasy types, told you today was random

These 6 fawns are Footsore Resin minis, bought in a mystery box

Quite nice figs, the grass is very log as I forgot to paint the bases before I flocked them, so I had to use big tufts as well

A bit of normality now

Saxon archers and a huscarl, from the same footsore mystery box

And now I claim the prize for the weirdest figure in the challenge. Damn, turnip wars makes this look normal

I present to you a zombie camel. WTF!!

Yip, this is from a Northstar mystery box, why else would you have one, this counts as unmounted cavalry

Almost finished

These buildings are the Rorkes Drift buildings

I added coya matting for the thatch

They are to be used as colonial buildings in Vietnam, obviously. They are massive and between them add up to 2.75 terrain cubes

Finally a glimpse of future work

This dwarf is the start of me completing my Dwarf army from 1988

Not loads to do but many that need touching up and rebasing - should have done this as the Under construction project but wasn't planning to paint them in the challenge, but they are calling to me

Right, the complicated scores on the doors

28mm foot = 17 equivalent = 85pts
75mm foot = 1 = 15pts
Buildings = 2.75 cubes = 55pts
2 limo rides = 40
Superhero = 20
Gift shop = 20

total = 235

Boom-boom-boom-boom-boom! A veritable points-cluster munition bomb, Martin!

From MartinC: Tour of the Studios (227 points)

Like most of us, I amass a few figures that I have started during the challenge but not got round to posting. These are some of these

1st up a 75mm barbarian from Mr Lee's. I loved Kyle's figures and tried to buy some every year to test myself. This one is a belter and will take me through Sword and Sandals and my 1st blue tour stop

I really enjoyed painting him and gave him an obsidian sword

The tattoos are in fine tipped permanent marker

On to Fantasy next and there are several entries here. 1st up is Coatl Guard General eating the heart of his victim, nice

He's a big unit, approx 54mm, holding the lifeless body of his lunch

The feathers were a pain, never undercoat in white, it makes them more colourful but it is impossible to remove the visible white.
Always on the look out for cool looking figures I picked this up at a bring and buy. It's from Reaper Bones and I hate it. I have several Reaper bones figs and I don't like any of them. But he's painted now

He's a 40mm figure

and will add beef to my lizardman army

Finally for the fantasy studio so African tribeswomen

8 warriors in masks with spears of blowpipes. The bases are very boring because..

they are crew for these elephants. the elephants are from a previous challenge and will join my Kings of War African army

I need to take a trip to Books next, no clue what to do for Arthouse. So it is a ride in Lady Sarah's Limo. Actually it will be a party limo as I have lots of ladies and enough champers

This murderous geisha is from Hasslefree and was a joy. Love how I did the pattern

She has brought the girls with her. This deadly bunch are also Hasslefree and I love these type of figures

The brunette with the teddy rucksack and 2 pistols is particularly ironic I think

So here I am a books with almost infinite variety to choose from. I a picked Biggles - who wouldn't

This figure is from Northstar and came with the Pulp rules, which not properly played yet

Biggles will need some allies / enemies and these South Sea Islanders will do nicely, Copplestone I think or Pulp

Probably good guys, i think

Finally me, Dave and James are off to Hammerhead in a month to run a gangster participation game. This will be Feds against moonshiners, and so we needed a still, picked this up on Etsy

Scores on the doors - hold tight

20 x 28mm infantry = 100
1 x 75mm chap = 15
1 x 54mm chap = 10
1x 40mm chap = 7
3 x terrain markers = 5pts each = 15
3 locations and a limo ride = 80
total = 227pts

I need a rest

ITMA*, with another points bomb. What a terrific bunch of figures to whizz you around the Blue Zone. There isn't a 75mm category in the SSOD**(TM, MilesR) so I've entered the score for that barbarian in the bonus points. Now, go and have that rest!

Just one little thing - please can you include a progress map with your studio entries?

From MartinC The 3 Stooges and Friends (80pts)

Hope you are all well. My 28mm Vietnam project is rattling along nicely. Like all projects it is growing out of control. What originally started as a small fire team scale action has grown to a full platoon of USMC (with additional support), 2 platoons of Vietnamese (with support), a helicopter and these beauties

These 3 M113 transports are from The Assault Group and are lovely resin castings. They are only £8 each. Looking a images there is little in the way of markings but all seemed to be named and these three are Larry, Mo and Curly.

they will provide useful support and transport and great targets for RPGs

It is also that time of the year when those random figures that have been painted up during the challenge but not posted get their time in the sun

1st up this 54mm Barbarian figure is from MrLees and is a beautiful figure

Really enjoyed painting it

Next we have Jesse "The Body" Venture fighting an invisible Predator. This is a great Hasslefree figure

It is always a great disappointment to me that these guns don't really exist in this form. They just don't make power cables long enough

Finally a random Grey Scale Landsknecht figure. Painted this when I doing the grey scale para.

Suited my sense of fun to paint the most colourful soldiers in the world in black and white.

Scores

3x28mm vehicles = 60
1x54mm figure = 10pts
2x28mm figures = 10pts

80pts.

Right I have some USMC to paint

From MartinC Bozo the Brexit Beast (10pts)

Deep in the bowels of the Bullingdon Club the cabal had assembled. The satanic runes had been drawn to represent the basest fears of humans, poverty, foreigners and nationalism. This would surely protect their money and influence. The ground had been prepared for years and their frog like "Renfield" had done his job well but he could never be their totem, he was hated by half the nation. They needed a harmless puppet. They turned and looked at the club clown Bozo, who was carefully ruffling his hair. Bozo looked up, smiled a mawkish smile and said "Of course I'll be in charge, everybody loves me, they think I'm harmless"

The cabal turned and nodded. Bozo stepped into the circle and the spell was cast. The spell fueled by rotting fish, fruit and vegetables which were spaffed up the walls. The evil coursed though his veins. Red, white and blue flashed before his eyes. The feeling was power and joy but this quickly turn to pain and agony. it was too much. Even his empty shell couldn't contain the power unleashed. The evil of nationalism was too much for him to hold and the transformation began

This is Mr Lees Minis stone golem and is a brilliant figure. I buy a couple a year to test my painting skills and I'm building up courage to buy the female duellist

It arrived yesterday and just demanded painting immediately

The colour scheme lead to the narative and the hair is a straw tuft.

I have another figure from Kyle but that will take much longer to paint.

Score for our unless PM is a 54mm figure = 10pts (no bonus for 118K covid victims and rising). In case you hadn't guessed I'm furious that this dick has wrecked my beloved country twice.
