From Mike W - A mixed bag of Genres & Scales (324 Points)

Just when you thought it was safe to avoid Orcs in my posts, I present a batch of 20 x Orc Bowmen, although many would say no ewal Orc would consider using a bow...

These guys are 3D Prints from Highland Miniatures, via eBay and I although they do not match the look and feel of my existing collection  I just liked the sculpts and wanted to paint them!

Batch of 20 x 28mm Orc Bowmen

Closer view of the right flank of the Orc Bowmen

And the left flank, featuring the banner

In my head, I'll use them as 'civilised' Orcs that have taken to dressing like humans, albeit, some strange Orcish cult (Gorka or Morka or both!) with their deep red cowls and forgoing the traditional choppas and spears for bows.

The command group

Three Bowmen

Three more...

Another three, although I like these guys as a one off, I don't think I'll get any more as they are so different from the others in my collection

Four Bowmen

And the last four!

This really is the end of my Orcs for this year but don't worry I'm sure I'll not be able to resist more eBay bargains in the next few months!

Next I have some 100 x Warlord Games Epic ACW 15mm infantry, painted as the 10th Tennessee 'Sons of Erin' Volunteer Infantry, an Irish unit featured on the cover of an Osprey Men-at-Arms book I have.

The full unit

These were painted in much the same way as the AWI infantry I submitte din a previous post this year, being grey clad rebels these guys were pretty straight forward to do and the use of a watered down black ink wash helped pull th edetail out of the figures.

First of five bases!

Second....

The command base, flags printed out and attached.
Unfortunately the 'Sons of Erin' green harp flag is not really that visible.

Fourth base!

And finally.

THe artillery base and teh mounted commander were painted up - really as they were part of eth figure sprue, they will be deployed somewhere in my Rebet army!

The rest of this week's post is taken with a couple of odds and ends thtat have come off my workbench....

A 28mm Skeletons armed with sword and shield.

This guy is wearing a Bedouin head wrap sourced from a Gripping Beast Arab Infantry set.
His original skull is at his feet!

Another view

Finally a Chaos cultist who has stumbled upon a couple of unfortunate travellers, I can't remember where the figure came from but it was for a long forgotten project.

His nasty looking weapon

From KentG: 28mm Confederate and Union command (140 points)

Well I decided to dig through my ACW box of goodies and see
how many command figures I had left in there.
This was a box that I had got in a trade so really didn't know what I had
As per usual I had so much fun painting these up.
These chaps are a mix of Perry and foundry miniatures.

Well not a lot of Chat this time hopefully the figures do the talking

                14 x 28mm cavalry @ 140points

From Millsy: I'm pretty sure I have entire armies that comprise less minis than your ACW command figures mate and they're not as well painted either. Let me say one last time how impressed I am at the volume of quality work you can produce. I know you spend whole days painting but that only makes me wonder where you find the stamina! 140 more points to your tally. Will anyone catch you? I'm betting not...

From KentG: 28mm ACW Confederate limber, pirates, peasants, science fiction romance, gift shop and Sarah's cart (points 216)

Well surprise surprise another week has sped bye, as I write this.

It is the first of Feb and I almost wonder, is time passing fast simple because of the amount of painting we are doing?, as if we are turning the hands of time with each brush stroke in this post we have a few different figures which I really  enjoyed painting.

We start with a 28mm six horse Perry Miniatures Confederate the gun and Limber plus 3 figures by the gun are from their plastic artillery set the rest are metal.

After doing the 6 horse limber for the union I was mad enough to decide lets make this one longer and add an artillery piece.

I don't know how often I say it but I do love painting Perry Minis.

Next up we have 4 figures from a peasant set 3D printed by Wargames Atlantic I'm entering these into romance section of the Library and Sarah's cart the Lady with the can of food is for Sarah's cart the rest are part of a love triangle but the green eye of envy has hit.

You cheeky wench you try and use food to steal my man from me well I won't have it, if I can't you you nobody will. I'll blow you and this piece of skirt into the next life Bang bang.

Now with the use of Sarah's cart I'll do the science fiction entry into the library.
We have a lone figure from the doctor who world 28mm Cyberman

We have another couple of pirates from Irregular Miniatures I hope to get a bunch more done before the end of the comp. I really enjoy these so full of character.

Lastly we have the first 3 x 40mm figures these will be entered into the  library under gift shop. They were a gift to me and once painted they will be an unexpected gift back.

There is almost the full set of these by Eureka Miniatures these are a real nostalgia moment, many years ago Eureka miniatures sent me one to paint and display, so when a friend gave these to me just before the comp I was like, I know these and was quite excited. It comes with tables and chairs and animals so should be very cool when they are all done.

                                                    Total 80pts
            Grand Total of 216pts

From Millsy: What a weird and wonderful collection of stuff you've presented us with here Kent. It's great to see the Cyberman at last following our chats, and the limber is beautifully done BUT the pick for me is the WA peasants. They're both very well painted and the story you constructed around them actually made me laugh out loud.
