From DallasE: Bolt Action Soviet Weapons Teams and Support Group (Violence)(70 points)

Continuing with the winter WW2 Soviets project, I just finished the Winter Weapons Teams from Bolt Action. The box contains six models - a sniper team, a flamethrower team, and a light mortar team.

Last up first, here's the mortar team. Warlord says this is the 50mm mortar but there's no bipod as you'd usually see. Hmmm.

There's a sniper team in the pack. The models are the new Warlord Resin (tm?) and are actually pretty good. No warping or flexibility to speak of, fortunately.

The team includes a sniper with an M1891/30 scoped rifle and a spotter with a PPsH-41 submachinegun.

Lastly we've got a flamethrower team, just the thing to stay toasty on a cold snowy battlefield! The uniforms on these guys are Vallejo Model Color 70.988 Khaki, pretty much an exact match to GW Zandri Dust. They were washed with good old Agrax Earthshade and re-highlighted Khaki.

Nice detail on the flamethrower. All of the models are one-piece with "puddle" bases - but I cut the base off the flamethrower operator.
From the Support Group there's the 82mm mortar team. Not enough room for 'em all on the round base so I put one on the square.

These models are metal of course and are quite nice.

Lastly I painted the radio operator from the Support Group, also metal.

As for the Circles, I'm gonna grab the low-hanging 20 points bonus for "Violence". Pretty self-explanatory I guess, all of these models are pretty much violence-oriented!

Points:

10x 28mm infantry = 50 points
Violence Circle = 20 points

Total = 70 points

--------

Your Rooskies are really coming along Dallas! Yhey will be a force to be reckoned with when completed. Looking forward to seeing what comes next (I have some small side bets with myself going....hope I win!)

From GeoffT: Violence, WW2 German (70 points)

Hello Challengers,

For the seventh circle of hell there are a lot of options for wargamers.  I felt ww2 would be the most significant exponent of violence, as worldwide it was the largest number of casualties of any war.

Here we have some miniatures representing the Germans in WW2.  I play a lot of Campaigns in war games, and I do very much like Chain of Commands pint sized campaigns.  They are very respectful of the subject matter with a lot of research going into them.  More like an interactive history lesson than a game.  They do require addition of various equipment to one’s arsenal as campaign demands.

The Sdkfz 250/1 is by Rubicon models and will be used in ‘Martlet’ campaign set in Normandy, so is painted with a Normandy esque camouflage.  I’m never quite sure of the accuracy of modelling the various German camo designs as they varied so much I’m never convinced I have the right one for the campaign.

The Volksturm with MP 44 are from Artizan design, and have been painted with a mix of new and old uniforms.

So, we have, a 28mm scale vehicle for 20 points, 2 x crew for 10 points, four guys on foot for 20 points, and the Violence theme bonus for another 20 points.  A total of 70 points.  This also is a squirrel for the squirrel side quest.

There was one more crew painted and buried deep inside, but since I only painted his top half and is largely obscured, he can be a freebie.

Kind Regards
Geoff.

From Millsy:

That's a very cool looking half track Geoff and I really like your camo choice. I see a lot of airbrushed camo for WW2 and I think that underrepresents the fact that so much of it was applied with whatever was at hand in the field, including brooms and rags!

The volkstrum and a nice little unit to ride along. Artizan make some lovely sculpts and you have done them proud.

Another 70 points for your tally!

Cheers,
Millsy

From BruceR: Sarah the Succubus offering Nelia Reaper Cleric, Roman archers 7th Circle Violence, (90 pts)

Made it home from the ranch, and now off to MN for lake country over the New Year holiday.  Before I forget, Happy New Year to you and yours.  On to the challenge.

Sarah the Succubus: Travel from the 5th Circle to the 7th Circle: Violence

I've leaned into the side hustle of Dante's Divine Comedy and have elected to offer this great miniature received as a bonus figure when ordering from Reaper.  Done mostly with speed paints (I've been using them regularly and highlighting after). Prep is base coat black and slapchop white prior.  The figure is Sister Nelia  Cleric.  Might be able to hire as a tag along for my rangers.  A little more flamboyant in dress and sporting a mean mace and protective shield.  Pity the undead coming this bada@@ cleric's way.

Sister Nelia

Roman Archers:

Painted at the ranch, without basing material.  Finished up the bases and photos this AM at home.  I'm plucking the Seventh circle as a wargamer gimmie as I didn't feel it fair to take one next door with the cleric done and beseeching Succubus Sarah to move about Hell.  These Roman archers are here to unleash violence in the 7th circle of hell.  I immediately thought of one of my favorite movies "Gladiator" when the archers hit out at the Germanic horde.

Oops, I googled unleash archers and got this, as a musical fool, I figured add them to this gig.  Never heard of, but with the name and a Canadian band how could I go wrong before the Snow Lord.

Roman Archers unleashing Hell.  I'm a metal head (miniatures not music).  These Victrix Roman archers scared me as I've done chariots only from this company.  We ran out Midguard Heroic Battles written by James Morris and produced by ReisswitzPress and enjoyed the game.  I had Romans v Celts and was short of archers.  So went looking and found the best deal in the states to be Victrix.  I bit the bullet, bought and not too many bits.  Seem fragile and will see how they hold up.  The different poses are great, with loading, firing, pulling arrows from quivers.  I also like the different heads, as I chose mostly mustache sporting heads for that foreign look.

7th Circle of Hell, Violence.

Last submission for the year.  Looking forward to 2025 reducing the pile of opportunity and to the world in general with trepidation.  I guess bring it on.

Points

9 25mm @ 5 = 45 pts

Succubus Sarah = 25 pts

Seventh Circle of Hell, Violence = 20 pts

85 pts

Your last post of the year is terrific, Bruce. I really like Sister Nelia, especially her vibrant tabard and tunic. I'm also impressed with her fleshtone and eyes. Very nice.

While you may be a bit suspicious of your new-fangled plastic archers they really are a treat. Being a moustachioed fella I like your choice of barbarian auxiliaries. I also love the pose depicting them pulling arrows from their quivers. Very cool.

Great work Bruce and a Happy New Year!
