Bonus Points Awards for 'Victorian' Theme Round

Hello folks!

Below is the new roster after tallying the points from the 'Victorian' bonus round. I've been playing with different ways to display the rankings. I like the look of this one but tabulating and logging it hurts my noggin. Anyway, my thanks to all the participants who submitted entires - it was a great round.

Also congratulations to Paul for meeting his Challenge points target - well done!

Finally, just as a reminder Saturday (today) is the deadline for submissions for the 'Myth' theme round, so remember to get your submission in to me as tomorrow is the posting.

From SanderS - Classic Battletech (25 Points)

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

One of the games I enjoy most is Classic Battletech. This game and myself have a long lasting love-hate relationship. I first got to know of this game through a friend who took me along to a game played at a local Dutch games convention and after seeing the first game played I was convinced I'd never get involved in this hair-brained game.

Now 15 odd years, 62 novels, numerous sourcebooks, 2 PC games and 5 armies further I am well and truly hooked. The sheer depth in background and the way the game works has entranced me beyond reckoning and I obtain the odd model now and then to complete several units, mostly with the iconic oop Unseen models.

Today's update brings you 3 battlemechs and 5 bases of power-armoured infantry. The blue mech and the infantry will complement my Federated Commonwealth regiment the Aragon Borderers and the red mechs will reinforce my Draconis Combine 5h Sword of light. I am still in dubio whether I should add decals because there are no suitable places on the surface of the mechs to adhere them to.

Most of these pictures I have taken myself but a co-worker took some of the Aragon Borderes mech and I have included them as well here for you.

As to the points value I am totally at a loss since the infantry is 6mm (that would amount to 25 points) but the mechs are about the same size as your average 28mm model, yet their scale is something like 1:285...

Cheers Sander

From Curt:

62 novels! Holy smokes, I had no idea. Wow. I remember when Battletech 2nd Edition first came out in 1986 (we sold a zillion copies at our store) and even better was the the Amiga computer game 'MechForce' which allowed players to create and keep track of their 'Houses' of Mechs. It was absolutely dorktastic.  No, really it was.

Anyway, I digress. Sander, these are excellent. The mechs are wonderful (especially that blue guy with his white accents) and I'm particularly impressed with the power-armoured infantry - those are very cool all arrayed on those hex bases. Question: Is the game still hex-based or has it moved to a free measurement system?

Thanks for the trip down memory lane Sander!
