A 20mm Platoon of WWII German Kriegsmarine for Chain of Command. Figures are Kelly Heroes from Grubby Tanks (Britannia Miniatures).
Each of the three sections consist of:-
Junior Leader
Rifle Squad - 4 Riflemen
MG Squad - MG34 Team (2 Figures) + 2 Riflemen
Commanded by a Senior Leader.
This will be the first unit of my 2017 WWII Chain of Command project. I have painted them a bit bluer than they probably should be and have started to paint all my figures a bit brighter than usual as I like the way they look on the tabletop.
ByronM: A very good points score for the day at 116 points! The blue may be a bit bright but I think it works and will really make them stand out on the table, especially with the white accents. I hope they serve you well in CoC, and I look forward to seeing more of your CoC project.
Great looking unit. I like the bright blue, I really like that you can tell they are sailors at a glance. Realistically they would probably trade in their blues for army uniforms...or such is my guess but this is way more fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam I was a bit worried at first when painting the blue but as I continued I started to really like the fact that like you say they are obviously sailors and when your stood over the table 2 or 3 ft away they show up as a different unit nicely. You are right, later in WWII they wore very similar uniforms to the Heer as well as a much darker shade sailors uniform.
DeleteThose look great! It's nice to see some of these lesser used alternatives getting a look. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteGot some Cossacks coming!
DeleteNice work Richard! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tamsin :-)
DeleteI think I've only ever seen Kreigmarines on the pages of AHPC! ;) They do look smart in their uniforms and ready for infiltrating commandos though. Perfect troops for defending U-boat pens and shore parties hunting occult items too! ;)
ReplyDeleteYour right great for Pulp games!
DeleteYes as well as WWII Chain of Command they will also get a run out in our Fictional country of Andreivia as well as some Pulp games.
DeleteNice one Mate. As Santa did not bring me the requested figures My Chain of command in 20mm has gotten of to a slow start so I will live vicariously through your CoC 20mm.
ReplyDeleteAs such what a brilliant force!
Thanks mate you are very welcome :-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed, good to see the sea dogs getting their land legs.
ReplyDeleteNicely different
ReplyDeleteI think the blue looks good and they turned very nice. I find for my personal tastes, the smaller you go down in scale the brighter colors look better on the table top! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rod I agree :-)
DeleteGreat work Richard. I like the brighter blue. As you say, it will make them stand out on the tabletop.
ReplyDeleteExcellent figures Richard!
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice entry, in both quality and quantity!
ReplyDeleteAlways great to see more sailors on the table Richard! I think that blue is a cracking shade to help them display their Navy pride in the midst of what otherwise would be a vulgar brawl :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul :-)
DeleteGreat stuff Richard - what a great force for an unusual scenario for Chain of Command!
ReplyDeleteThese are great, nice to see less regular troop types getting some love
ReplyDeleteIan
Great looking sailors Richard. I like the bolder blue it does make them standout on table. I'm a big believer in the two foot rule.
ReplyDeleteYery nice work, Richard - great opening salvo!
ReplyDeleteNice work great to see different scales getting a run out this year
ReplyDeleteThanks for all for the kind words. This is my first year doing the Challenge and the messages of encouragement are a great inspiration to keep going. I have started projects that have been sat waiting for years and finally they are seeing the light of day. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteGreat work on these troops!

Lovely entry. I think you will enjoy using them in CoC games, they are a very distinctive force though, sadly, probably shouldn't be rated that highly. I always feel sorry for navy and air force guys who get swept up into infantry roles - not what we signed up for!
ReplyDeleteNice work! I thought these were 28s to begin with.
ReplyDeleteInteresting little force! I thought they were 28s as well.
