From DaveD - Royal Artillery Screw Guns, 15th Punjab Infantry (185 Points)

The next instalments toward the Sudan Imperial forces. 3 screw guns and RA crew, and the 15th Punjab  Infantry - all Connoisseur Miniatures.

12 Gunners completed - the Screw Guns themselves were already completed. There are a range of uniform options for the RA as far as I can tell from the various reference works ,I chose to go with the plainer blue/grey option they seem to have worn at 2nd El Teb - helps the break up the khaki.

I have another Naval Gatling to complete, and that should see the artillery element of the Imperials done.

Next up the 15th Punjab Infantry. 12 of these I had picked up ready painted, but frustratingly I was unable to get a good colour match for the khaki - I suspect it was a mix of enamels - so i gave up ! and decided it would just be quicker and easier to redo them from scratch - as they were a fairly simple paint job.So 24 plus a singleton foot command figure.

I want to get at least 1 more infantry unit done for year end , then perhaps I will do a group shot of progress so far. A decent combined arms force building up.

From Curt:
Ooh, another lovely points bomb Dave, well done! I really like the blue/grey of the Royal Artillery - as you say, they break up the sea of tan and khaki. Are you planning a big game with these in the future or is this period just something you've been wanting to add to your display cabinets? Either way it's turning out to be an incredibly impressive collection. Well done my good man (and you move back into top position in the points roster)!

  1. 2 more great looking units. Are you a machine? Can you pass the Turing test? Keep it up while we watch with awe and jealousy

  2. Curt.. This lot will be used for gaming... I will be putting on a recreation of Peter Gilders classic Sudan games with old friend Mark who now runs the Holiday Centre later next year (that's the plan!)

  3. Dave - you're almost 1/3 of the way to your target in less than 3 weeks. I think you need to either raise your target or slow the heck down! :)

    Lovely work as always :)

  5. Impressive, very impressive you can really crank them out and do it with quality as good as any I have seen. I like the artillery men... reminds me of French Uniforms in the 1st World War.

  6. Back in front, eh Dave? Not that it isn't deserved of course as this is another corker of an entry. I think the Perry stuff will slow you down, it certainly did me. Well I hope so anyways... :-)

I'm 100% with you on the blue-grey. Most of my Sudan stuff is done in the early uniforms to avoid the khaki drabness of later stuff. Keep em coming, looking forward to the Naval Brigade stuff now you've teased us with it!

  7. I was thinking the same thing as Tamsin regarding point goals. I really do think when this is all over both you and Millsy will crack the 3,000 barrier.

    Excellent work Dave!

  12. I just can't match that lot for speed/ Great work you are making my Sudan stuff seem really small and insignificant! Still I must just do what I can. You on the other hand are going from strength to strength.

1002 Points by new year is my sweepstake guess!

  15. The Sudan's always a great period to see done well, and you're no exception sir. The blue is indeed a nice contrast to the khaki, and with that stalwart looking supporting infantry, those gunners aren't going anywhere. Nicely done.

  16. Smashing work! Somewhere I have a box of plastic HO with an old Airfix Sahara fort and scads of French and British troops. Of course they were outnumbered by the Zulu, Arab, Muslem, Hindu, ....
