Hello Everybody!
This past week we had our first Theme Round of AHPC VII with the focus being on 'Armour'. We were treated to 57 entries ranging from Mechs to Men-at-Arms with an inexplicable, but delightful affection of Matildas. It was wonderful work from all those who participated - thank you for your fine submissions.
The votes have been tabulated and here are the results.
Runners up
AnthonyO's wonderfully weathered 'French AMD 80'
ByronM's amazingly white but lethal 'APC for Sedition Wars'
...and PaulOG's terrifying creepy crawly 'Soviet Spider Mechs'
Third Place: ChristopherS' fearsome and majestic 'Goth Warlord'
Christopher will awarded 25 points for this wonderful Dark Age command stand.
Second Place: Curt's 'Francis I at Pavia'
(Doffs cap) This is a great honour, thank you! I will greedily add 50 much-needed points to my struggling tally.
First Place: MichaelA's astounding 'Grail Knights'
Michael, in his typical style, has presented us with a fully realized vignette from 'Monty Python's and the Holy Grail'. Stonking work Mr. Awdry. You will receive 75 additional points and a gift certificate from Trenchworx Miniatures.
For those who like stats (cough, Miles, cough) here is the summary chart from the 'Armour' Theme.
Alright!
Next week's Theme Round is 'East'. I anticipate a flurry of submissions this week (hint, hint). Remember the deadline for entries is midnight Saturday, Regina time (got that Ev?).
Congratulations to all the winners, some great entries in there.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, these rounds really are your home ground. Well done one and all for a truly stonking round
ReplyDeleteVery good choices, I think all the finishers are well deserved.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking just for me, I don't need to know the vote tallies for the whole group. It's enough to me that people decided to enter their work amidst a supportive environment.
Your opinion is noted Michael. I've been asked in the past to provide a voting rundown so that is why I've provided it. If people would prefer not to have it I'm more than happy to omit it.
DeleteI understand Michael's point but at the same time I do enjoy knowing how *I* did, it can be motivating. Best option might be to send the results (privately) only to those interested but I'm not sure how this could be done easily for Curt...
DeleteAs I said, just my opinion. I can see Iannick's position as well.
DeleteI like to see the results to see how I did, even when i do badly as it then gives me a slap and says "smarten up, try harder". If you don't know how your ranked you never have any pressure to improve. Ps.. I'm hoping that works in reverse too and Michael and Curt get confident start slacking soon.... No real hope of that though
DeleteI usually have high hopes on the bonus rounds, then I got only couple of votes and am bit a disappointed. Then I take a closer look at my work and works of others and realize, that my painting is not may be crappy, but still far from the best. If the votes would be secret, I'd be thinking I'm just behind the runnerups and would think that just a bit better painting would get me on the podium. But they are public, and I realize that I need to paint much better. It gives a bit of motivation, although I usually paint for the table top and not for display. So I prefer the votes to be public.
DeleteRegards,
Tied for last with two votes. :)
A well-deserved congrats to all the winners and runners up and a round of applause for everyone else who took part :)
ReplyDeleteWell done the winners.

ReplyDeleteAnd thank you, Curt, your advice is duly noted. Regina Time, or as the rest of us like to call it, 1952.

Congrats to all, I'm slowly getting caught up in viewing and painting...

ReplyDeleteA well-deserved outcome if any! Such well executed entries (both the winners and the runners-up) could not but have ended up high in the rankings!

ReplyDeleteWell done everyone!
ReplyDeleteWell done to all the winners and I'll thrilled to grab a Runner -Up position: my best ever result!
ReplyDeleteAnd very well deserved they are. I loved those crazy looking Mechs.
DeleteNewbie question, do you get regular points for your entry ?
ReplyDeleteYes, you get the regular points for the entry plus 50. Also, if you place in the top three for the votes you receive additional points on top of that (25/50/75 for 3rd, 2nd, and 1st receptively).
DeleteThanks Curt, my points haven't gone on so I just wondered, understand it may just be a backlog, wanted to check. Cheers
DeleteI've checked into it and they are now up, Ken.
DeleteThanks Curt
DeleteThanks Curt
DeleteWell done to the fine winners, and to everyone for entering. I loved looking through all the entries. It was a privilege submitting along all of you - great collective work, guys!
