Hi all,
This week I give you one of those posts that should be titled "when did I
buy these!?" posts. I'm sure we've all been in the position of
uncovering boxes that have long been forgotten about and that contain
unidentified packets of figures. This is how I came to paint this week's
subject matter of some 15mm Essex camelry and a Legio Heroica mounted
commander.
The figures are lovely to paint, the Essex camels almost paint themselves and the Legio figures are full of character. The banner is homemade using tomato puree tube foil (lots of tomato based dinners have also be consumed over the last week).
Thanks for looking.
Very nice Alex, Dave D should be watching out for you, you'll be overtaking him as CamelCing in no time. I really like the natural and subdued colours you use and these fit together well. The command base ties in well but is, at the same time, clearly recognisable; all in all a great job. As per Minions discretion I will award you 2 more points for the home-made banner and thus you will be gaining 50 points tonight.
Welcome to the Painting Challenge. Here you will find the fabulous, fevered work of miniature painters from around the world. While participants come from every ethnicity, gender, age and nationality, they have three things in common: they love miniatures, they enjoy a supportive community, and they want to set themselves against the Challenge. This site features the current year's event along with the archives of past Painting Challenges. Enjoy your visit and remember to come back soon.

Nice camels Alex :)
ReplyDeleteGreat work Alex. I have an entire room in my basement crammed with "when did I buy this?" type acquisitions. Credit to you for getting some of them painted!
ReplyDeleteMy wife is a quilter an talks of UFOs - unknown fabric objects acquire over the years. I am sure that there we can co-opt this to Unknown Figures Obtained!
ReplyDeleteAny way these are great - camels and medieval Arabs what's not to like!
Excellent work Alex! That camel unit makes for a very characterful addition to the tabletop. Well done.
ReplyDelete...and like Greg and yourself, I have a shamefully long list of 'where did I buy these!?' as well. :)
DeleteWow that's an awesome stash of 15mm with some wonderful painting
ReplyDeleteVery nice painting and great to see some long forgotten treasures getting a lick of paint. I for one have to confess I haven‘t had that ‚where did I buy these‘ feeling yet, but am absolutely positive it‘ll come sooner or later.
ReplyDeleteExcellent brushwork Alex. I love those, "when did I buy these moments"
ReplyDeleteGreat looking camels, whether you meant to buy them or not!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Well done.
ReplyDeleteA nice little unit!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Alex! I most certainly have similar units in the basement. Generally, it's because I forgot I had em! The camels look very fine and I like how you got the command stand to stick out!
