Another chunk of Austrians done! Two Line Artillery and two Cavalry Artillery batteries. Perry Miniatures once again.
Line Artillery.
From Curt:
'Boom' is right! That is probably our largest points bombs this year! Excellent work Mark. My hat's off to you. I typically hate painting artillery what with all their tucked-away corners and fury-inducing spokes. I really like the ochre yellow you did for the gun carriages - what did you use?
This submission neatly puts you in amongst the top three in the points standings. Well folks, it looks like we have a new going concern for the podium! Nice one Mark.
Brilliant, these are stunning
ReplyDeleteIan
More beautiful work Mark :)
ReplyDeleteCurt - I think Mark's first points bomb was bigger than this, about 600 points if I remember right:)
superb... and wot Curt you missed the 600 point bombe!
ReplyDeletegreat job on these..
Ah, too true. But really, at this level what's a couple hundred points amongst friends?
ReplyDeleteWell indeed... I blame your numerical incompetency on counting snowflakes..
DeleteThanks, that's a far kinder excuse than other's would give me. ;)
DeleteCor! Stunning work Mark. I'm with Curt - I hate painting artillery. This lot together looks amazing, and makes me wonder at the sheer size of the army they will be supporting. Did you just start your Austrians for the challenge, or has this been an ongoing project?
ReplyDeleteI am NOT getting tired of seeing your Austrians! Some excellent "Kings" of battle to protect the "Queens" you've finished! They look excellent from plumes to base!
ReplyDeleteGreat work Mark. As Curt knows, I complain and whinge at painting even one gun, so seeing this big pile of them - wow! Amazing stuff.
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely gorgeous Mark! The depth of colour is superb. I'm with Curt, what's the colour on the gun carriages???
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff!
ReplyDeleteI don't understand the problem with painting guns, I don't find them any problem at all!
Those seats on the cavalry guns - all I've got to say is ouch! Those guys must've had numb nuts after a day's March.
Cheers
PD
That's simply because you're a freak Peter - you also teach stats and seek out games about quilting. Enough said.
DeleteI prefer to think of myself as being eclectic and having a wide range of interests and skills....
DeleteBesides which anyone who gets traumatized by the thought of painting shields or artillery pieces shouldn't really talk!
+1.. Take bare metal...apply paint...
DeleteHaha!
Delete'I prefer to think of myself as being eclectic and having a wide range of interests and skills...'
Careful Peter, this strangely smacks of a dating advert - if you're not careful you'll get some 'Love and Kisses' from Baconfat (JamesR)....
...and Dave: If it was only that easy I'd be spray-painting my stuff...
;P

ReplyDeleteImpressive!
ReplyDeleteAmazing. They really pop off the screen with those excellent colours. Really good job on this one. Cheers
ReplyDeleteExcellent brushwork on these. They really pop and the yellow on the wheels is beautiful. Congrats on another massive point bomb!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteI consider it a triumph when I finish a single gun and crew. Well done they are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant work! That's a decent sized battery already in 1:1 :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing. So much to like in this entry. Quality and quantity and Napoleonics. What's not to like? Bravo MarkO!
ReplyDeleteThose Wurst seats . imagine riding on one at the gallop over a rutted field and then having to jump off and go into battle with numb ... appendages. Ick.
Really impressive painting work!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks all! And yes my biggest entry was 600, still need to beat that! Laughed at the "fury-inducing spokes" comment Curt!! I understand though I found when I paint this many at once I start getting quite systematic with the paint application which makes it all easier for some reason.
ReplyDelete@ Dux had 4 infantry regt done before I started challenge, but army is growing fast, total numbers aimed for are rather large... more to come!
@ MIchael Mills Colour on the Austrian guns is Tau-sept Ochre from Games Workshop (which they don't make anymore I think), highlighted with Averland Sunset (which they do)!
Thanks Mark. Bloody GW and their f*cking paint range redux. I'd really like to try out that Tau Ochre...
DeleteNow that's a really 'boom'bastic entry! Very well done.
ReplyDeleteExcellent. and depressing at the same time (when I think how long it would take me just to build up the motivation to paint the same amount of miniatures).
ReplyDeleteTop job!
