The second of Clint's entries today (he's got at least one more in the pipeline).
Please forgive the photography. Yes I know we all say that and we all mean it as well. Today an infantry company for my 6mm Arab-Israeli wars (1967) Six day war project. Although as it stands this is a complete company I will add another platoon as soon as I am able, but I for the moment have run out of mdf bases. I feel a small purchase is needed.
All the figures are Heroics and Ros. 1/300th scale or 6mm in wargames speak! The company consists of:
- HQ Platoon. A single BTR 152 APC with a Command stand.
- 1st Platoon consists of. 2 BTR 152 APCs, 1 command AK 47 assault rifle stand and 1 Blindicide antitank stand and 5 AK47 Assault rifle stands
- 2nd Platoon consists of. 2 BTR 152 APCs, 1 command AK 47 assault rifle stand and 1 Blindicide antitank stand and 5 AK47 Assault rifle stands
So the ARAB forces slowly grow. I will also be doing some Israeli infantry at a later date.
At least we aren't in peril of summoning any Shoggoths with the name of this lot!
Some nice additions to your Six Day War project Clint. These will score you 30 points.
Thanks Tamsin. Only 1 more today as I need to work on the next bonus round so will not finish the one I was going to do. Do not tempt me about shoggoths it may just happen! No plans as yet, but the challenge is still young!
ReplyDeleteA 6mm shoggoth would be hilarious. Just drop in a 28mm monster on the table and watch those little men scatter in terror!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, excellent looking squads. I don't think the cut down numbers are a problem. If anyone complains, they can be low strength, elite squads so there is no loss/bonus to the figure count ;)
Thanks Paul. In the club it will only be me and anyone that reads this that will know of the lightness of numbers, but then they will not worry about it. Afterall when Playing historical periods no one sticks to the right numbers. Just imagine how many Zulu's we would need!
DeleteAs for the shoggoth idea it is tempting to make a Chaos Space marine army just for the tenticles!
Good old H&R. And though I loved the AH boardgame, AIW looks much better in 6 mill
ReplyDeleteThanks Pat. H+R are still going. I still like their stuff (I prefer vehicles more than figures but who else make AFFORDABLE modern infantry that are any better!)
DeleteVery nice - great level of detail on the iddy biddy men and trucks. I won't tell anyone about the short squads ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jamie, at this scale I feel they area as much counters as playing pieces. And best not to mention the lack of troops, in fact let us forget all about it.
DeleteLooking good, really nice to see this project bloom, not sure though about your use of slowly grows as it seems to go leeps and bounds
ReplyDeleteIan
Thanks Ian. Let us be blunt. 6mm tanks/vehicles are an easy option to paint as are modern infantry. So it may be coming on in leaps but I have been talking about doing this project for 3 or 4 years so it is a slow grow for me.
DeleteGreat stuff Clint. Cheers Peter
ReplyDeleteCheers PD. A fun project to get me going whenever I get stuck with something else.
DeleteGreat work Clint - this project is coming together very nicely.
ReplyDeleteThanks Greg. I will probably do a couple of small platoons next. Or Maybe an Israeli plane. The plane is looking more likely as I did want to paint it tonight, but time has gotten away from me.
DeleteStill can't believe that you paint this small mate.. my eyes would never survive it.. great work as always!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kyle. I have some 6mm Malburians waiting in the side lines. They look far more impressive than little Khaki jobs!
DeleteMore fine work Clint. For some reason talk of 1/300 and 6mm makes me chuckle. Aren't there also a few suppliers who do 1/285, just because.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sean. Yes there are companies like GHQ, But heroics and Ros for Modern is so much cheaper in the UK.
DeleteOooh more 6mm goodness today. I like these Clint, particularly the vehicle. I know you weren't satisfied with the photography, but that panoramic shot is the perfect way to display these as a group.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne. It is hard to photograph such small troops. But I will keep trying to get it right.
DeleteMighty fine work on them, Clint. You got them matching the base, but not diappearing, real good execution!
ReplyDeleteThanks David. Desert sand primer is the key. Spray everything and then washes on the figure but not the bases.
DeleteReally fine painting work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Juan. Struggling with the next bonus round now. I am sure it will turn out ok though.
DeleteSome fine work there Clint, not a prriod I know much about.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray. 1600-1850 seems to be your period which is about my black spot. One of the joys of wargames is we all like different things.
DeleteArmour is always a popular subject - tanks for posting, Clint!
ReplyDelete(I'm here all week, enjoy the buffet!)
Thanks Evan. You did elicit a groan from me. And I am now smiling so I guess it worked well.
DeleteA lovely kick in the shoggoths to the challenge!
ReplyDeleteThanks Fran. I may paint up some Lovecraft stuff yet. I feel I should.
DeleteConsidering you're dealing with 6mm figures painted mostly the same color as the base, I think you did a great job both with painting and photography--it would be too easy for those guys to just blend right in with the sand!
ReplyDeleteThank you David for the very kind words.
DeleteNicely done! Certainly not my scale but very nice nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteThank you Moiteerei. It is very hard to get super enthusiastic about 6mm moderns. They all tend to Camo up and get out of sight.
DeleteOh, I can hear the siren call of microarmour... very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Barks Micro armour was my first real steps into wargames and out of toy soldiers.
DeleteNice one!
