Once upon a Dimensional Rift...
The Challenge has been successful! This unit has been built and sat on my shelf looking very sad in its grey plastic form for the best part of 2 years.
And now, they are transformed!
This unit of 10 Bloodletters, representing the somewhat blood-thirsty God Khorne, has been painted in the favourite outfit of red.
If you remember my army for AoS is called Cult of the Pentagram and is a Chaos Grand Alliance affair. Last week we saw the first faction: Skaven and this week is the second Penta(?) - the Chaos Daemons.
There were supposed to be more offerings this week but my ability to procrastinate over paint schemes and change my mind multiple times during the painting process are both obstacles to overcome. One day. Maybe.
Let's just say that the swords and banner went through various schemes before settling on the final versions. The swords are probably twice as thick as they were with the various layers of abandoned paint on them!
The bases are done to tabletop standards and tufts etc will be added once I've actually remembered to order some... yes I have something of an interesting approach to planning...
All banners in the army should now follow this example and will eventually have pentagrams painted on them. Assuming I don't get in trouble for my continued internet searches on "How to draw the perfect Pentagram".
Work have decided I need to travel thousands of miles from my painting for the next couple of weeks so normal service will be resumed at the beginning of February. Adds a certain "Flippin' Eck!" to the whole 500 point target deadline...
MilesR: Nick, these are very nicely done, I'm also throwing in an extra 5 points for the very nicely done banner for a grand total of 55 points
Welcome to the Painting Challenge. Here you will find the fabulous, fevered work of miniature painters from around the world. While participants come from every ethnicity, gender, age and nationality, they have three things in common: they love miniatures, they enjoy a supportive community, and they want to set themselves against the Challenge. This site features the current year's event along with the archives of past Painting Challenges. Enjoy your visit and remember to come back soon.

ReplyDeleteI'm glad they brought back the old serpentine design for the Bloodletters. The sword effect is excellent.
ReplyDeleteIf it got figs off a shelf where they had bee ;anguishing for 2 years then your AHPC has been entirely successful! Nicely done Nick

ReplyDeleteIan
Very icky. The flame swords really make em rock As Donald Trump would say, some bad hombres.
ReplyDeleteWell done, love the swords. Great to see them finally get painted.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! That is really something - hard to get red to behave, but you've done it. Well painted, that man!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the kind comments! It truly makes the 23 false starts on the swords worthwhile. I may have exaggerated slightly but it felt like 23...
ReplyDeleteAnd yes it's a relief to finally get them off the shelf and painted. Of course, as it's traditional, I bought another box of 10 to fill the gap. :)
And thank you for the bonus points! Started my week off just right!
ReplyDeleteReally nice effect on the swords, they look great.
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
