From MartinC: 10mm Austrians (170pts )

My Battle of Lobositz, the 1st major battle of the 7YW between Prussia and Austria, armies continue to grow. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it's not an on coming train.

1st you need a hill. This is made from a gardeninf kneeling matt and is about the size of a terrain cube. It's nice material and I may buy more but it is a little rectangular.

Then add some Austrians. 4 regiments of Pendraken Austrians and 4 supply wagons

Harrach in the front and Jung-Wolfenbuttel to the rear

Wallis at the front and Hildburghausen to the rear

Inaction shot

Maths time

1 terrain cube = 20pts
4 x 30 figure 10mm regiments = 120 plus flags
4 wagons @ 3 + 2 for horses plus 1 for driver = 4x6 = 24

total = 164 plus flags

From DaveD - Ooh nice - look forward to playing with these
Lets call it 170 for the flagging etc.

  1. Nice work Martin. Isn't Pendraken the best?

What rules do you use these for?

  2. Those look really nice Martin. Lobositz is a big fave of mine, looking forward to the AAR. Did you have a steep rocky hill and a marsh on tap?

    1. Thanks. The steep rocky hill is actually a volcano. Not done them yet, still got the prussians to do

    2. Volcano makes sense given the pictures that I’ve seen. More reason to get it done!

    3. absolutely. I've just had an amazing thought. In WW2 the US advance was halted by Vesuvius erupting. What a brilliant display game that would make

    1. still got 7 infantry regiments, 2 units cavalry, some artillery and officers to do. At the moment I'm painting a massive ostrich!

  4. Nice work Martin, 10mm seems a great scale for these battles, sweeping vistas, but recognisable units.

    1. Yeah, that;s the plan. Whilst we have the space to go massive in most scales I like the idea of trying out command and control on armies with 40+ units

  6. I really like the hill and may be repurposing one of those d*rn kneeling matts pretty soon... The Austrian regiments look very good and the supply wagons are a nice touch!
