Hello Challengers,
This week I have Angels to represent the 9th sphere of paradise.
Well, they are kind of angels. They are Winged Fezzed Monkeys with Angel wings by Eureka Miniatures. I do hope that is close enough for the theme. They will constitute a squirrel, for the Wicked Witch of the Wests Army.
Also we have some more German’s as well. Here is a Marder 2 tank hunter. Marder 2 referred to the chassis, the 2 version being based on a Panzer 2 chassis. The gun could vary, this one is a Pak 40. Marder 2 nominally had three crew, but sometimes shown as four in historical photographs. In this case it has 3, the driver is inside the vehicle. They were manufactured between mid 42 and mid 43, so could have dark gray or dark yellow factory paint. I have done the latter, with a 1944 camo design and crew in late war camo smocks.
So we have:
20 points for Angel theme,
9 winged monkeys in 28mm, is 45 points
1 x 28mm vehicle = 20 points, and two visible crew for another 10 points.
Kind regards
Geoff
From Millsy:
The monkeys are superb Geoff and an interesting choice for angels and hence the paradise theme. From my POV who's to say what an angel actually looks like? Popular lore would suggest an idolised human but that's impossible to prove so your representation holds as much water as anything else for me.
Your Marder is a wonderful piece and the camo is brilliant with the variations of tones AND colours making it really pop. You don't often see open topped tank hunters in games, mostly being left behind in favour of actual tanks so it's great to see you've chosen to field something that was both common and critical to the German war effort.
95 points it is mate, which takes you within spitting distance of your total as we near the end.
Cheers,
Millsy
Well done Geoff, Winged Fez monkeys, whoever came up with that idea must be taking some serious meds, and if not should be!
ReplyDeleteYour take on the Angel theme opens possibilities... :) Great minis and well painted.
ReplyDeleteFlying monkeys, what's not to love about that?
ReplyDeleteWinged monkeys flying around...there is some kind of commentary there on how we approach the hobby, but I am too distracted to finish the thought...
ReplyDeleteExcellent Marder and Monkeys. Great work.
ReplyDeletegood to see some SPG or the more medium sort - nice paint job and interesting posting
ReplyDeleteThis post now has me wondering what would happen if the Monkeys were to crew the Marder...
ReplyDeleteNice flying monkeys and a very useful AFV.
ReplyDeletelove the Angels?/monkeys and the Marder is a work of art, nice entry overall
ReplyDeleteNice work on the ambush scheme, and fun monkeys!
ReplyDeleteI’ve seen those winged monkeys in the metal and you’ve done a great job on them.
ReplyDeleteLovely Marder and the flying monkeys are excellent, got to love a fez!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Winged Fezzed Monkeys? Well I never!
ReplyDeleteAnything with a fez is fabulous, full stop. The camo on that Marder is superb.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the kind comments. I tried to make the monkeys uniform match the ones from the movie, but wasn’t easy as they are quite small. The wings I did angel colour despite them being brown in film.
