From KenR - A Trio of 28mm "Honey" Tanks (63 Points)
Another transfer of three tanks from the to do pile to the done box this week and this time it's my second batch of three M3 Stuart Tanks.
As with all my tanks so far this challenge they are part of the #flakegate Blitzkrieg Miniatures fiasco, but I have managed to get another three over the line. Following on from the Mark VI Light Tanks last time I have stuck with the Official colours for the Caunter Scheme mostly because the paints were on the table 😉
This is the second batch of tanks that have had the benefit of the Warlord Games Tank Name decals. It was a tight fit on the turrets so it was short name time !
Points are 3 x 20 for the tanks plus half points for the one crew on show for 63 points.
There are a couple of Tanks to do from the Brits with 5 more left waiting for spare parts (which will hopefully arrive in time for challenge end) so the airbrush will be out next week to work on the Germans I have to do. There is still that unit of Gendarme kicking around too.
***
Fine work Ken - always great to see more of your armoured vehicles for the table, particularly as you valiantly overcome the monster of Flakegate. It's also a nice treat to once again see your skill with the tricky "Caunter" camo pattern on these wee tanks.
Another 63 points for you, sir. And take THAT, Flakegate!

From TomM: Cook's Crevasse: Kadim Incarnates (90 Points)
Or as they where called in the Forge World days, K'daai.
Lesser stone constructs, created and bound by the Dawi Zharr to take the brunt of the incoming enemy and allow them the chance to flank opponents.
These models, created by Mantic Games in their Abyssal Dwarf range, are as such excellently suited to represent these big (and expensive points-wise) monsters into the army of Infernal Dwarves, and as the theme for this bonus location had to be "earth related", where excellently suited as an entry.
Big and lumbering, this unit of monsters will pack a serious punch once I manage to get back to actual battling 9th Age, but for now I will just methodically build up my forces for gaming.
Now that should conclude my scenic route along the island, time to go hitch a final ride on the balloon and make way to the peak in the centre.
Pointswise, these should yield 6x 10 points for a monster figure, and adding the location bonus in the mix grant me a nice 90 points towards my goal.
***
As someone who was so involved with GW's fantasy ranges at one point (before the "Age of Sigmar" happened) it is always really neat to see the many excellent fantasy figures available from other sources appear during the Painting Challenge. These are interesting monsters, well done Tom.

From AndrewE - 8th Army Desert Aussies 28mm Reinforcements - (50 Points)
I was lucky enough to have my son come to Canberra with me to bond over playing Bolt Action again. While he enjoys playing the games, he is not a huge fan of painting (no screen attached...). So this meant that, in addition to having to paint up some reinforcements for my DAK, I also had to add some reinforcements to my 8th Army desert Aussies.
I had previously painted the majority of this army, but with the expanded points level of CanCon (1,250 instead of the usual 1,000) I had to add a couple of extra units in. Enter the (2nd for the army) medium mortar.
The models are all from the Perry range, with the addition of the Australian slouch hats for converting the "standard" 8th army models to Aussie. I used the recommended painting guides from the Flames of War source books using the lovely Vallejo paints.
The bases have come out really nicely with a good contrast and textures. These were mostly from the Warlord Games desert basing kit.

I also added a few of the Western Desert SAS miniatures from the Perry range to add a little bit of character to the army. I sprinkled these models in amongst the regular units - mostly as officers, snipers or spotters\observers.
Overall, they performed pretty well at CanCon with a few quality kills for my son. Also luckily I didn't have to face him or it may have been a very quiet ride home one way or another.

Nice work here Andrew, great that you can enjoy the hobby with your son as well. I have added a few extra points for the mortar and the work on adding hats etc. Messing around with head gear on miniatures is a real pain, and worth a few points here and there!

From DarrelH: Battle of Shrewsbury 1069; Interior Buildings I (20 Points)
Due to having to the time constraints of having take extra care of the "oldies" in the family the Shrewsbury game has been cancelled for Partizan in May this year. Instead it will be featured at Partizan II on October 11th later in the year.
Anyway, I have found time to continue work on painting some of the buildings that will act as either the suburbs of Shrewsbury or stand stand inside the Motte and Bailey.
This building was scratch built by me many a moon ago and a resin castings were made that was made by Stronghold Miniatures with the agreement that for a number of castings I would agree for the model to become part of their catalogue which I was more than happy to do. To be honest I am not even sure if they are still in business. I've still got half a dozen resin castings that need to be painted.

Wow, Darrell, this is very impressive. Having your building 'master' made into resin copies is such a great (and enviable) approach to doing a large town setup like Shrewsbury. The structure looks great and has wonderful texture to it, which I think would be excellent for mass assembly and quick drybrushing.
This looks to be around a 6 x 6 structure, so let's go with 20 points.
Well done Darrell, and good luck with your upcoming medieval urban planning project for Partizan II.

From DaveD - More hit the beach - 15mm LCVP teams - 96 points
I am continuing in the 15mm WW2 “to do list” . Last year I picked up more LCVPs to add the assault wave , but I didn’t get the passengers done in enough time for my D `Day game . So it’s time to right that.
So it’s 4 full boat sections , each of 24 figures . They are pretty much full figures so going with a point a piece.

Well, who feels like a trip to a beach now? It all seems so peaceful!
Nice work as always Dave - beach landing stuff seems so fiddly, so I'm extra impressed with those who can pull all of this off. Great work - and 96 points for you.

| So that is 9 full LCVP’s , LCMs just need some jeeps adding in. |
And here is a picture of the US forces completed over the this challenge and the last two years - I am rearranging the storage - and working out what’s left to do - basically more basic infantry , and a few top up of existing units , and more soft skins .
Right then. Back to some buildings next I think.plus something for O’Grady's gulch.

From AlexS: 'The Island' for Snow Lord's Peak (50 Points)
Hello everybody! My name is Alex, I am from Russia and I present to you my most important project at this event.
The Snow Lord, wise and great, set before me the task of creating terrain worthy of his island. At first I decided that I could do it with materials that I would find in the garbage dump. But this is not worthy of a great lord! So I went to the store.
The material I bought, among other things, is patriotic.
As you understand, I was going to make the island itself, because it is such a terrain worthy of the Challenge.
Further photos will be interesting if you want to know how I did this and you want to repeat my idea. If not, you can easily ignore them.
By the way, as the Great Snow Lord ordered, I used a gun with hot glue!
I painted almost the entire island with an airbrush.
And a little literary description:
The tired traveler ascended to the top of Snow Peak.
- Oh great lord! - he exclaimed, - I brought something worthy of you! Now, in order to survey your possessions, you can not go out in the cold, but sit in your office, drink wine, bask in the fireplace to contemplate the land that belongs to you! Will you accept my gift?
It was an interesting experience, and I am grateful to Сurt that I did it. In the summer I will actively use this island during the pirate games - it will be called "Сurt Island" and on it we will note the movements of our troops. In addition, I hang it on the wall and will regularly watch and remember this event and all those people who took part in it. Thank you all!

Alex, this is absolutely amazing. I LOVE it. When I first wrote up your Snow Lord's Peak challenge Sarah said to me, 'You know, Alex is not just going to make a terrain piece of an aspect of the island, he's going to do something for the WHOLE thing.' As usual, she was right on the mark.
I enjoyed seeing how your project came together and had a wonderful time popping back and forth between Sidney's drawing of the Island and your 3D rendition; looking for specific features like Millsy's Millpond, Fran's Fijord, Awdry's Atoll, etc. If one takes the time to look they're all there to be enjoyed.
As your prize, I think it's only fitting that your upcoming island adventurers have a suitable objective for their quest, so here is Dave's excellent 'Treasure Horde' to add to your enviable collection of terrain.
Well done Alex, and thank you for such an entertaining and creative SNP submission.
