I struggled with the color blocking and realize now why I prefer black primer.
The command group came out pretty nice, although the colors seem a little bright.
Please forgive the white glue showing, the varnish was also barely dry.
I'm down to the wire with this one. I forgot I'm two hours behind Curt here in California and I've been helping my Father in law setup his Christmas present, which involves computer type stuff.
Thanks for looking.
From Curt:It's a very Orky day today! Even though you had to struggle with working with a white primer you've done wonderful work on these Boyz Sean! (As a suggestion, prime in black and then do a light drybrush in light grey to provide a base to 'lift' any brighter colours.) That command group is especially imposing. I like their leathers and the overall Mongol horde look about them. Excellent.
So many Orcs - I think there are more of them being painted for this Challenge than there were in the whole of Middle Earth!
ReplyDeleteGreat work Sean :)
Thanks Tamsin, I did not realize it was such an Orky day.
DeleteLove the look of them, a real mean team
ReplyDeleteIan
Thanks Ian, they just came across a little bright with the white base.
DeleteNice job Sean!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne.
DeleteGreat group of Orcs, perfect for the Golden Horde.
ReplyDeleteI´m in doubt about to paint LotR or Orcs in this moment!!!
Thanks Juan, it looks like fate may have decided for you. It seems to be day of the Orc.
DeleteWe're going back to the Old School, partying like it's the 1990s.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff on da boyz!
Got the Soup Dragons on and I'm painting old Gobbo's next. Thanks Roy.
DeleteI remember those from my yoof! I always wanted the leader but never had the money. Thank you for the nostalgia trip. Nice paint job too!
ReplyDeleteI painted Eeza Ugezod for last years challenge. Thanks Clint.
DeleteDems were da dayz!
ReplyDeleteReal Old Skool stuff, nice one Sean!
Thanks Evan, yeah no one to look disapprovingly at me as I dropped $100 at the hobby shop.
DeleteVery nice work on these old skool orcs! They'll tell those nasty elves who's da boss in town.
ReplyDeleteThanks Moiterei, they definitely need somebody to stomp.
DeleteLuv'n da boyz, Sean! Dey look ded 'ard, dey do. Tuff'r den old boot leather! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks David. Deyz da bizness!
DeletePrimer should be left for a minimum of 3-4 years in order to cure properly. :-) Loving the old school stuff that's coming in at the moment. Keep it coming Sean!
ReplyDeleteYes, I've heard that ageing the primer also increases their re-sale value on ebay. ;)
DeleteNice orcs. Cheers
ReplyDeleteThanks Kiwi, cheers to you.
DeleteThose old Nick Lund sculpts are great - they still stand up reasonably well today. Well done on the painting, too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kevin, they were a bit of a bear but I'm glad to have them done.
DeleteOld Skool Orks - nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael.
DeleteThe Nick Lund orcs are my favorite orc minis of all time. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteThanks David, I appreciate the compliment. I've been enjoying your work as well.
