From KenR: 15mm SYW British Artillery (44 Points)

The first of two mini entries (posted second, oops - ED) for me this week is this battery of three guns for my SYW British Army.

The figures are 15mm Minifigs which I purchased last year when I bought all the Command Packs for my Saxon Infantry. Classic old school 15s.

At 2pts a figure and 4 for each of the guns I make that 36 points for both my Grand Total and my SYW Side Duel.

Unfortunately the Side Duel has not gone well for The Yarkshire Gamer, after a slight case of overboming from Tamsin and Ian I am rapidly losing touch with the leaders, I have a couple of units of British Cavalry on the go at the moment but they will be a while whilst I switch production to SCW for an upcoming refight of Jarama, I think the towel has gone in !

Great guns Ken! What's the caliber on these, do you think? It's unfortunate you're drifting behind in your side duel despite chipping away at this project, but these will make a fine addition to your force, supporting the infantry you've entered in the Challenge so far.

I count sixteen minis and three guns, for a total of 44 points

Great to hear we'll be getting some more SCW in the challenge too - what scale are you working in?

    1. Thanks Tamsin, we definitely seem to be on the same wavelength ! The Hamlet reference spot was good but getting the Sisters of Mercy ref is epic 👍 Only 3 albums but still one of the greatest bands ever.

  3. Hi Phil,

The guns I think are 6 pdrs, I can't remember what I ordered, as for the SCW my collection is in 28mm, 12 done already.

    Regards Ken

  5. OMG Minifigs for the Lace Wars, bestill my beating heart! They are dated as hell but there is a clean, classic elegance to minfigs and when painted with respect the results can be excellent, like your painting here. Kudos to you sir, even if I have no idea about the music references supposedly in your post!

  6. Thanks Peter, I do like the Minifigs SYW range, like you say clean and classic. Don't worry about the music reference, The Sisters of Mercy are definitely an acquired taste.

    1. I've just spent some pleasant time over at the Minifig site. The toy soldierish look really fits this period. My music tastes also require some acquisition.....

  7. That is a tremendous looking battery of artillery Ken! I also really like the larger bases you've gone with. These beasts took up a lot of real estate in real life so it's nice to see it reflected on the tabletop.

    1. Thanks Curt, I do prefer a larger base for Artillery, as you say they weren't shy on having a large footprint.

  10. Nice work on these. I know nothing of minifigs, but it's nicely detailed, especially for 15mm stuff!

    1. I think it's us showing our age Jamie, they were THE figures in the early 1980s.

  11. You may have fallen behind on points but you retain a healthy lead on quality. Love the look of them.

Side dual wise I think Tamsin is striding ahead, I have started to look for suitable figures LOL

You may have lost the side duel, but you have a lot of epic quality!
