RichardC: More Cowbell

Well, here it is, the end of the challenge, and what a great experience. Some wonderful eye-candy to drool over, some prodigious feats of painting (I think next year, Kent should aim for a 1:1 representation of La Grande Armee - and he'd probably do it), some amazing interpretation of the bonus themes, and some happy hours taking part in (what Michael A refers to as) this most wholesome of hobbies. Thanks for all the supportive comments on my efforts.

I am pleased that I passed my target of 500 points - little did I know that I would end up in hospital during the course of the Challenge. If I am lucky enough to take part again next year, I should start prepping the figures now. Having taken one of my "small People" to Warhammer World last weekend, there may be something outside my comfort zone in the future - although this will be fantasy rather than sci-fi.

So here is my somewhat modest haul - 52 figures, 2 bits of terrain and 3 Heighland Coos!!!

Now, I know I was supposed to appear in the photo myself, but I thought it would crack the camera. So here is one of me with more of my face obscured. It was taken on a gladiatorial event at Fishbourne Roman Palace near Chichester with the Long-Suffering Briony and the Small People.

So to finish with, here is my Curtgeld. The original idea was for a figure of Talos from Jason and the Argonauts, but then Curt went and used a still from the movie in the opening post.

I've therefor plumped for the Grim Reaper from (appropriately enough) Reaper Miniatures. There is an ulterior motive, as it gives me the opportunity to post a Challenge Tune - something I've waited the whole Challenge to do.

Well, what else could it be to accompany this figure? I first saw this band live 37 years ago, and this track still gets me going.

  2. That armour is a bit broad in the beam for you, Richard (lots of room for pasta-induced growth I suppose). Fantastic work sir. Your Imperial French band with the Arch was, well, a triumph! :) Thanks so much for the Grim Reaper figure - he'll be a great focus for work! Enjoy your upcoming day out at Salute!

    1. I'll have you know that the armour wasn't that snug a fit - I hadn't fastened it up at the back ;-)

    1. Thanks for that - I don't pain many figures like this, but may well do a few more in future.
