From DaveS - Defenders both alien and human - (93pts)

The first thing in this post is some more of my 28mm WW2 resistance fighters from Warlord games, that are probably destined for Bolt Action and AVBCW.  These are all armed with shotguns, and are probably destined to be poorly armed and experienced troops making up numbers in Bolt Action, while they will probably have a more important role in AVBCW

Next up, work on my Wild West Exodus Watchers has continued.  Firstly, I completed the Viridian Chigoes from the starter box.  Not much to say except that I am still only approximating what colour "Viridian" actually is.

Next were 4 more "Grey Elite", also built with jump packs.  Given the number of these I have, I suspect that this will be a very mobile force, although I still have no real idea how they work on the table.

With the others I had already done

Finally, I have the Magenta Alpha, another "Boss" for the game, this time described in the lore as an Apex Predator.

As with all of these larger models, the big challenge has been deciding which bits are "skin" and which are armoured plates.  Ultimately, it appears that I have had to make some arbitrary decisions, but I think that they have turned out alright.

So, that should come to

5x28mm Partisans = 5x5 = 25pts

4x40mm Greys = 4x7 = 28pts

3x54mm Viridians = 30pts

1x54mm Magenta = 10pts

Giving a total of 93pts

From Curt: Renaissance Foot Knights for the Knight's Solar (45 Points)

For the Knight's Solar chamber I have, well, five Renaissance foot knights!

I've based these to act as both skirmish figures, or as markers for our Renaissance games. In 'Furioso' there is a neat mechanic where opposing pike units can send out their Doppelsöldners/halberdiers/sword & bucklermen in advance to contest one another. Whoever wins the duel continues on to cause mayhem amongst the front ranks of the enemy pike formations. It's an abstract, but interesting way to reflect the doctrine of these close combat specialists.

The outrageous plumes were a lot of fun to paint. As Iain alluded to in one of his previous posts, these guys would fit right in on a Marti Gras float, or marching in a Gay Pride parade. :)

All five of these models are from Steel Fist Miniatures. They're wonderfully realized castings and a real joy to paint.

I dice slots are if they're being used to count wounds, and the flat side is for it to be set up flush against their parent unit.

I could be wrong, but I believe a few of these sculpts are modelled from suits of armour in the Wallace Collection in London. I've taken a few liberties in adding a little extra gilding to some of the plate to make them better 'pop' on the tabletop.

As to points, I think I'm at 45 for these lads; 25 for the knights and 20 for the chamber. This will also give me my 10th point for the Squirrel Challenge!

Next, I need another teleport to get to the Orc's Pit, so I best get cracking on a Sarah Bella sequel set.

From JeremyM: Psykers and Alien Eggs in the Hatchery (60 points)

So I'm now ready to descend to the next level of the chambers and I'll start this post by paying my dues for the transportation. Now I recall from my very first post in the challenge this year (an ork that I offered to give to PeterD) that Mr. Campbell complained in the comments that no one was giving him anything at that time. I haven't followed everyone's posts to see if that has changed, but perhaps we can rectify that.

I have two imperial guard psykers both are 3d prints. The original is the male, the female is a kitbash I made by reposing the arm, swapping the head, and shrinking the model just slightly.  I recall Curt's Sisters of Battle army was kind of dark grey and red. So the female psyker was meant to reflect those colours and is a gift, while the male is more blue toned and will be added to my guard army. I had a hard time thinning the red paint to go over her red armour so it didn't turn out quite as nice as the blue tone on the other but its passable I think.

And now for my post for the hatchery. Anyone who has seen my other posts will be shocked that with this chamber I'm back to the aliens themed posts. So here are two sets of alien eggs from prodos games.

I decided to go with a green undertone followed by a heavy drybrush of off white. I know the originals were more predominantly white but I kind of wanted the facehuggers that are emerging from within to stand out a bit more, and green seemed like an obvious choice that also showed up in a bunch of inspiration images online.

So that's 4 28mm figures (the eggs already came based and are pretty simple), 20 points for the transport, and 20 for the room putting me at 60 for this chamber.

BUT WAIT PSYCH CURT.... the model is not a gift for you. The other reason I created her was that our dear sorceress Sarah played a psyker a few years ago in a game of Dark Heresy. So guess what Sarah, the female psyker is for you, enjoy!

BruceR Snowlord's Treasury Chamber 28mm Pirates (50 pts)

The secrets of the Snow Lord's Treasure eluded the band of adventurers.  No "unpainted" treasures could be found in the bin of lead or resin.  Alas, all painted for prior Frostgrave adventures.  Ahh, my eye lit upon these Chinese pirates from Foundry miniatures, some crates from Bad Squido Games, and an idea was born.

The Spider Tong has waylaid an English steamer and liberated its cargo.  What is this, no gold, no weapons?   Boxes and bags of Opium, the English treasure.  The idea from the Opium Wars with the English carrying it's scourge/cargos to China from India.

30 pts 6 28mm figures
20 pts for the chamber
50 pts total

From MartinC The 3 Stooges and Friends (80pts)

Hope you are all well. My 28mm Vietnam project is rattling along nicely. Like all projects it is growing out of control. What originally started as a small fire team scale action has grown to a full platoon of USMC (with additional support), 2 platoons of Vietnamese (with support), a helicopter and these beauties

These 3 M113 transports are from The Assault Group and are lovely resin castings. They are only £8 each. Looking a images there is little in the way of markings but all seemed to be named and these three are Larry, Mo and Curly.

they will provide useful support and transport and great targets for RPGs

It is also that time of the year when those random figures that have been painted up during the challenge but not posted get their time in the sun

1st up this 54mm Barbarian figure is from MrLees and is a beautiful figure

Really enjoyed painting it

Next we have Jesse "The Body" Venture fighting an invisible Predator. This is a great Hasslefree figure

It is always a great disappointment to me that these guns don't really exist in this form. They just don't make power cables long enough

Finally a random Grey Scale Landsknecht figure. Painted this when I doing the grey scale para.

Suited my sense of fun to paint the most colourful soldiers in the world in black and white.

Scores

3x28mm vehicles = 60
1x54mm figure = 10pts
2x28mm figures = 10pts

80pts.

Right I have some USMC to paint

From: AngusW - 28mm 'Saxons' - The Armoury - 55pts

From the 'Hatchery' I've entered, 'the Armoury'. We've here some Saxons warriors, purchased at the Battlefield show a number of years ago. I've a few others of these, I now have enough for a small warband.

I've no idea what the manufacturer is. They are very nice sculpts, but lots of them needed pining arms to bodies, shields to arms etc. I won't be in a rush to do more pinning as I found it rather tedious.

x5 Warriors @ 5pts each (25pts), x1 Leader on horseback (10pts)  + The Armoury (20pts)

from RayR - The Chamber of Challenge - The Shrine of St Cuthbert 40pts

Its Chamber of Challenge time once again!!!
And I'm in "The Shrine"

Shrine: Dearly beloved Challengers, let us bow our heads, and create … a religious-themed entry in this chamber. A model which is worshipping, praying, genuflecting, preaching, pilgrimaging, scourging, crusading, venerating … or maybe just visiting parishioners for tea. Clerics welcome!

I've gotta say I'm mighty pleased with how my Shrine turned out.

This wonderful piece of kit comes from the very talented team at Debris of War

And is available for the great price of £35

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to paint this up!!!!

This is its 4th and final incarnation, I originally tried to paint it up like Andy's from Debris of War,
see below, but I just couldn't get it looking as good. So in the end I gave up and went grey.

I then spoke to Andy on the phone and he told me how he'd painted his. It was so simple I couldn't believe it. But I stuck with the grey anyhow.

I based the Chapel on a large Warbases base.

And added basing flock mixed with PVA to make moss and painted/placed on.

I added a few MDF gravestones, covered with a thin wash of Polyfiller, then inked them. Just to add a
bit of decoration.

I took a few pics with some figures in to help you guys with its size.

These figures do not count as points.

Also added for effect were loads of Debris of War tufts along with Javis Ivy/climbing weeds

Peek a boo!

In the Chapel set not only do you get the walls but a font, an alter and a small coffin/shrine.

So its down to the points.....
The ruined chapel measures
9.5 inches in length
5.5 inched in width
4 inches at its highest
Then you have the tiled floor, Alter, Font and Shrine.

Math is not my strong points so after speaking to BigLee and Tamsin, both suggested
20 points, (which I was pretty gutted with!) 😭
And then another 20 for the Challenge Bonus.
Making a total of 40 points
