From Barks - 15mm WW1 Tommies (102 points)

Here are some WW1 Tommies from Plastic Soldier Company's The Great War. These are plastic, and I've individually based them on 15mm washers.

I'm not yet sold on the basing colour. The Great War has quite a red-brown mud colour on the game board, which I haven't quite matched. However, I always see WW1 as a grey-brown muddy hell, so I may yet re-do these.

There's 51 figures here, and more to come before the challenge ends!
Aha, it seems we have a first entry for the estimable Mr Barks! Knocking out 51 miniatures in one batch is a great start and I like very much how you've painted them. To my relatively untutored WWI eye the colours are spot on and despite the limited palette you've managed to get in loads of contrast to keep them interesting. 102 points for your total mate, and welcome to the scoreboard! Cheers, Millsy.

  1. Very lovely 15's,Barks! Really good detail on them too! Maybe some flock and gravel would liven up the bases a bit for you, but the reddish gray mud works just fine to my eyes.

    1. Thanks, David, I don't think I've yet hit the final basing technique for these guys.

  2. Very nice. I was interested to see these as I have bought the washers to do the same with my Great War PSC figures. I agree that the basing colour looks good.

    1. I usually base my 15mm figures on 20mm washers, but I think these were 15mm diameter, and I'm happy with them.

  3. Nicely done!

And the basing is fine, it's not like you're replicating the rocky Alps!

  6. Seems like this years challenge has an unofficial Great War touch to it. Very well done indeed! I'm pondering if I should trat myself to that board game. Your entry might have helped me a lot in my decision making ;-)

    1. I backed the Kickstarter because PSC + Commands and Colors was going to be a winner.

Is it too late for a WW1 attrition challenge?

  7. Very nice indeed Barks! Great to see you in the Challenge this year. I like the way you managed to get good contrast in the colours while still making them look realistic. Mine generally look like lumps of mud.

  10. Great work Barks. I have often found the 15mm infantry from PSC to be a bit dodgy, but you have made them look very, very sharp. Great work.
