So I wake up this morning and my Mail account is filled up yet again, maybe today I will figure out how to turn off Google + that so annoys me. I go about rapidly deleting them all and suddenly I recognize what appears to be a photo of Curt. I point it out to my wife and say "is that Curt?" and she says it looks like Curt. I say to her maybe you should get the coffees so I can figure out why there is a photo of Curt in my email account.
So with coffee in hand, I open up the trash bucket in my email account, and start to look through it, I click on the link of one of the emails and it brings me to the Painting Challenge blogspot. I say to myself was that not over a week or 2 ago.....no more getting up and feeling guilty for not heading to the painting table. I had thought I was all done with that. No more guilt for not entering any of the fortnightly challenges or not finishing off half painted platoons. What is it I am supposed to be doing now?
And as I go through a couple posts, I realize that there is not just beautifully painted figures, but there are also photos of people, some of whom I vaguely recognize and then it dawns on me, Curt has made a request that we do one more post for this year's challenge. A post that not only includes our entries but also a photo of ourselves. And I say to myself how interesting this is, I finally get to see what all these people look like..............Curt's true brilliance has revealed itself and I know that he has made me go back, find the necessary photos and post one more entry!

Heading to the game last Saturday night, I am not really sure how I managed a smile! |
Thanks Curt, and to all the challengers........what a great job.
That's a very red jersey you have on - great job painting but I suspect you've got a few more 18mm AB's to paint up since your switch from 28's to 18's!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the painting
Thanks Miles, no very little 18mm to paint, 2 divisions of French and 3 divisions of British on hand or on way from Spain and Thailand. Very close to ready to game in 18mm.
DeleteA fantastic jersey! And well done in the Challenge this year John - you certainly had a better outing than the Habs have enjoyed...at least the Jets never got our hopes up to begin with...
ReplyDeleteThanks Greg, yes it has been a very bad year for the country of Hockey.
DeleteOn the Bright side John Hockey won't get in the way of our gaming schedual... Great suff John.
ReplyDeleteSome consolation Adam for sure.
DeleteVery nice stuff! I can't really comment on ice hockey (that's what we call it in the UK, much like American football) as my only real experience is playing NHL '93 and supporting the Detroit red wings from that point on as I played them the most!
ReplyDeleteThe figures are great, I can't help but wonder who would win if they all fought each other?
Thank you, and the Habs are playing the Wings tonight. I believe a must win game for Detroit.
Deleteand they won!
DeleteNice mix of figures you have painted during the Challenge. I am not a big sports fan, nor even a small one but the shirt does look comfortable to paint in ;-)
ReplyDeleteI can not get paint on the holy jersey! yikes. But thank you for the compliment re the figures.
DeleteGreat output John. I especially like the 18mms. I ran out of time to keep up on hockey about 20 years ago, but in my youth followed a strict ABC (any but the Canadians) formula. You still owe me for the too many men on the ice penalty against the Bruins!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to figure out where you live Peter, how can you cheer for the Bruins! Yikes again.
DeleteBut again thank you for the compliment.
I'm now in Regina, but am a Halifax boy originally. The Boston Halifax ties are deep.
DeleteDeep like a Deep One. ;)
DeleteAh, it's great to get a retrospective of your work John (I particularly enjoyed seeing the development of your jungle project this year) but even more I must say that is an excellent photo of you and your lovely wife. Very nice indeed.
ReplyDeleteThanks Curt, the second order of bamboo got lost in the mail, but a 3rd order is on the way. The photo is a "selfie' in Bruges.
DeleteA wide and varied collection of figures John, well done!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray.
DeleteGotta say, I know sod all about hockey, and have no idea what a Hab is, but I do know good painting when I see it! Great work, John, no doubt we'll see you for the 2016/17 round!
ReplyDeleteGood Lord Ev, don't get them started on hockey lore... It'll be the end of me! ;)
DeleteThanks Evan, we will have to see about next year.
DeleteWell done John and I must say quite partial to the AB's.
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Yes they are nice.
DeleteGreat output John. It was definitely interesting to see your Pacific theatre entries :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tamsin, I am really looking forward to gaming the Pacific Theatre.
DeleteNice challenge John. Enjoyed the ABs. And that sweater looks good, even when the team sucks!
ReplyDeleteSucks is an understatement!
DeleteNice output, John! I enjoyed your work, but the jungle and Japanese were top shelf! My wife cheers for the Blackhawks but I shan't mention my team as the Sharks are still continuing to underwhelm. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks David, I suspect the Hawks may go all the way.
DeleteCracking work John! I particulary liked those japanese tanks you did.
ReplyDeleteThanks I still have the Ha Go to paint, I love the names.
DeleteWas loving the photos and such until the last one.. Habs? Everyone knows its all about the Canucks ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso like the japanese tanks you did.. much brighter than my versions.. need to sort mine out better cause they were too "camouflaged"
Thanks, they are little bright. I did wash them and then dry brush them with sand, but I just could not resist repainting the yellow.
