From DaveD - Cold War gone Hot! - BOAR British Battlegroup - 72 points

This entry sees something very different. I am returning to THE oldest project in the lead pile - some of this lot date from an original purchase in 1983 and was cutting edge at the time with GHQ releasing new models at the time. This is my British Battlegroup armoured elements for the classic cold war North German Plains based British Army of the Rhine. The reason behind the revisit is I am upgrading the mancave next year to include a  permanent 10 foot x 5 table so "big" battles with smaller armies will really fill it!

The armoured fist - 12 Challenger MBT's recent upgrades from Chieftains

The Infantry transport - 14 Warrior APC

Support elements - 4 Scorpion , 4 Scimitar light Recce tanks, and 2 Rapier mobile launchers

Below the previous bonues round starter entry of 4 Chieftans just to keep them all together
 A total of 36 x  6mm vehicles for 72 points.

In the pile waitng production I have both American and German battlegroups - and large horde of Soviets and other Warsaw Pact forces. I need to source some infantry and aircraft (well at  least until i find the damn box that has the one I already have in!)

its Maggie , Ronnie and Gorby time again folks! - mind you its begining to feel that in real life!

MilesR: GHQ - the gateway drug of mini gamers who came of age in the 70's.  What a great micro armor force.  I like the idea of your big table very interesting.

I wonder if you have anything else you might be posting today....

  8. And just imagine, back then, there was a real possibility that all our lead soldiers would have to be piled up to form a makeshift fallout shelter. Tense times! Though on the bright side, the geek really would inherit the earth.

Lovely work in an especially difficult scale, Dave!

  9. A very tempting entry this - as I have a few "Micro Armour" units myself... and the fact you have more to come may well weaken my resolve. Great stuff Mr D!! :-)

  10. I cut my teeth on WW3 micro armour in college and then in barracks ... lovely to see it done well again. WW3 seems to be getting an uptick in interest again ... hopefully only as a game.
