This, I guess, will be my last Challenge post. Let's start by saying that I have enjoyed my first Challenge immensely and would like to thank you all for the kind reception amongst you I have received.
Now I know I have not been replying to a lot of your posts like others have, but "real life" often plays up and will not permit me to do what I want to at any given moment. That said the level of the work displayed within these hallowed blog-pages is of an enormously high standard and I for one would certainly pay good money for an Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge Annual, just like CMON does one each year, yes even if my stuff is not included within it ;-)
My last contribution is a tribute of sorts. Way back, before this epic journey had even started, Ben (of Monsieur le Rosbif and Johnny Frog fame) asked to see my 1:72 Bavarians painted and even though I did not finish them within the confines of our little side duel, I have done so now in his honour.
I have painted up two regiments. One faced red and one faced pink. It seems that in the earlier part of the Napoleonic Wars the Bavarians had more different facing colours for their line infantry regiments, but switched to red, pink, black and yellow in the later half of the conflict. Or possibly my reference is mistaken.
The total of these 48 painted miniatures should bring me an additional 192 points, with these I have gained my target of 1300 points set for the challenge and I can rest back happily in my comfy chair with heaps of newly painted mini's in the showcases around me.
Well I wish everyone a very nice ending of the Challenge and would like to thank our kind host Curt for the extreme effort he has taken to service this great event!
From Curt:
Wonderful! An excellent send off for your Challenge run Sander and you hit your 1300 point target. Well done!
I've always like the look of the Bavarian powder blue, especially when it's set against a nice contrasting facing colour. As such these fellows look very smart indeed and I like that you've dedicated them to your 1:72 side duel that you had with Ben. A worthy sentiment.
A 'Challenge Annual Retrospecive' eh? It sounds like an interesting idea. I'll have to mull that over to see what could be done.
Thanks again Sander, it was a real pleasure having you with us for this year's madness and I'm delighted that you had a good time.
Lovely figures Sander! It's been great having you with us this year :)
ReplyDeleteIt was entirely my pleasure as well, you truly made me feel welcome.
DeleteGreat looking Bavarian's Sander!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ray, If only they'd had brought along some of their beer...

DeleteWell done Sander, these are terrific. Congrats on making your target and thanks for sharing your work with us this year.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you too mr Mills, it was a blast to participate even though I had no clue what to expects when I entered. I will be back next time ;-)
DeleteGrand stuff Sander, looks like you have had a good challenge .
ReplyDeleteThanks mr Docherty, I cannot even begin to approach the stunning amount and quality of figures you have lovingly shown us, but I hope I did my bit.
DeleteSuperb work Mr Sander - I really like the light blue color scheme and congrats on making your goal - hopefully we'll see you in the 6th Challenge (if Curt is mad enough to do this again!)
ReplyDeleteThanks mr Miles, I most certainly will!
DeleteThe Bavarians are lovely and congratulation on hitting your goal
ReplyDeleteThanks Mr Carriere, much obliged!
DeleteWell done. A challenge retrospective sounds like an article for WBQ.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea as well, but I wouldn't mind having a hard-copy issue showing off all the nice entries we have seen the last 3 months.
DeleteThese are excellent, makes me want to add them to my French
ReplyDeleteIan
Mr Ian, who or what's holding you back ;-)
DeleteNice unit, Sander! They look grand in that powder blue!
ReplyDeleteThe blue is so nice to do and looks great next to the Prussians and regular French indeed. So thanks heaps Mr Bromley.
