From Lorenzo: 1/72 1848 Danish Guards + New Acquisition (69 points)

Hi this is my first entry into AHPC ever, so please bear with me.

i am starting with some Danish Guards in Greatcoats circa 1848.

cockades were a feature of the 1848 war

in line for most rulesets

in attack column for most rulesets

in 1848 some troops still had old red straps and others the new black

hopefully others will follow!

the scale is 1/72, made by Strelets.

points claim is 12 @ 4pts = 48 points.

these are new starts so can i claim 20pts in the library for something new?

this would total 68pts.

Sylvain: Welcome to the Challenge, Lorenzo, and what a wonderful first submission. Your Guards look like they are in serious business and the ground work on your base adds to the esthetics of your units. I will add one point for the Danish flag and, yes, you can claim the "New Acquisitions". Bravo!

If you could provide a map of the Analogueville Library showing your progress, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  2. Great Danes indeed! I've been tempted by the Schleswig wars....great to see some figures for them.

    1. Hi Peter, be tempted but be prepared to go off piste so to speak - no one does a range for either of these wars - the good news is you can steal from all sorts of 19th century ranges!

    1. Thanks Simon - one thing AHPC has done is to make me rush ------ my decision making! and maybe my painting too. The flag is from Warflags for a small donation. I then simply printed it on some thick printer paper at my scale and used PVA to glue round a discarded covid test stick (tubular) and used the damp PVA to roll the flag and then as I have learnt off some youtubes - crush it. A cut off pin top piece was a quick fix for height setting

  4. Welcome to the Challenge, Lorenzo! It's wonderful to see some figures (and fine ones at that) from this relatively little-known period. Besides, who doesn't love a good bearskin hat. Terrific work!

    1. BobV I just told Peter I used gamers grass over a games workshop technique. I might pop that in a later submission

    1. Hi well its an excellent period if you don't mind pick and mix on suppliers. Sadly one of my suppliers SHQ has just been sold to grubby tanks - not sure what the future holds

    1. Hi Sander they have got better - PSR slated these British Crimean Guards for faces and big hands. I learnt from "pauls bods" blog to love the ugliness and go with it. Now I will paint anything in 1/72 - complete contrast to the perfection of printed 3D........
