Yip, 3 weeks (or is it 4) into the challenge and I've finished my Classical Indian army. My thoughts were they were mainly very boring to paint and whilst Essex are considered by many to be the benchmark in 15mm figures (your sculpts are either better or worse then Essex) these sculpts are somewhat dated. They lack detail and variety of poses. This made them boring to paint. The elephants are great though and I got a lot of figures for the price as I got them 2nd hand for Christmas from my family via Col Bill - love the Col Bill store.
So to finish them off
2 more massive, crew laden chariots. The one on the left contains a general and I will have to add some flowers to the base to make him stand out from the crowd
2 chariots isn't enough so here are 2 more.
Regiment of Maiden Guard. needed more of these figures and may add to them in the future. Shield says "Maidens", more literary imagination
Unit of infantry with massive swords. The banner says "Enemy Flees" kinda
Aerial view
Finally 4 units of skirmishers. These are on narrow bases so I can stick them with the elelphants.
So what does the army look like

I often take a break from painting to paint something else. This is an 18th Century fiddler from Foundry. Was going to put it with the cart previously painted but din't really fit.
So the maths.
4 chariots @ 30 each = 120
62 infantry @ 2 each = 124
1x28mm fiddler = 5
total = 249
Right I need something else to paint.
What a great finish to this army. The four Chariots look awesome and with the one you did last week they make a formidable portion of your army. As before these are worth 28 points each plus a couple of bonus each for the excellent detailing on the chariots. As you said that makes 30 apiece, 120 in total and well earned. You've also notched up a tidy 124 points for the infantry but I'll throw in an extra point for the flag. With your fiddler that's a solid total of 250 points. Well done Martin.

DeleteGreat work Martin. I doubt anything is ever truly “complete”, but no doubt a significant milestone :-) well done!

ReplyDeleteTa, bet they were bleeding terrifying on either side
DeleteYowza, that's fast work on these Indians Martin and nice looking work too~ Thos chariots are real monsters - must have been a bugger to parallel park. Your maiden guard unit should pique Ray's interest.
ReplyDeleteThanks, don't think you park one of them, just abandon it where you want
DeleteGreat work... shouldn't the Maiden's get a Sarah's Choice?
ReplyDeleteTa, how can I forget sarah
