My very last post for Challenge XII and not a badger or sandbag in sight!
A big thank you has got to go to Curt, Sarah and all the excellent minions, especially Greg, the Wednesday Minion. And a big congrats to all my fellow Challengers for helping pull me along during the challenge with all your works of art and comments.
Thank you everyone!
For my last post I have a selection of Polish High Command figures.
All based up on 50mm round bases.
Both these figures are from The Assault Group and come from the Janusz "the black" Radziwill, Grand Hetman of Lithuanian, pack
The flag comes from the website of Alex Pil, which for some reason I can't find anymore???
They shall be used as the Hero and Standard Bearer in Donnybrook.
They both painted up pretty easily and cleaned up very nice, unlike the infantry.
Rear shot
One last pic!
Of both of them.
Now the other 3 figures.
All are from Essex Miniatures
This Commander isn't really a commander, he's actually a Kettle Drummer minus the drums.
I thought he'd make a great looking commander and I think I'm right?
This isn't a commander either, he's a King!
King Wladyslaw IV 1595-1648 in fact.
So truthfully he's a little early, but he's still a great looking figure and fits in perfect.
My least favourite of all the command figures, but we can't all look good can we?
He's a Polish Mounted Colonel
And the rear of the year award goes to......
Two great horse on the left and middle, But the right hand horse doesn't really go with the rider, in my opinion? But that's all I had.
Also we have 3 foot leaders.
The first figure on the left is from the same pack as the 2 mounted TAG figures above.
The other 2 figures are from Essex Miniatures. These 3 will be spare leaders and/or will be command figures, if I ever get anything else painted up.
50pts for the 5 mounted figures
15 points for the 3 foot figures
Makes a total of 65 points.

Yet more wonderful Poles for your collection, Ray. I love all the vibrant colours you have happening with these figures all contrasted nicely by your excellent basing. I also think the use of the kettle drummer as a commander is simple, but brilliant addition to your command component. My only regret is not being able to task you with having an actual game with them as I did last year. ;P
It's been a pleasure to have you with us again Mr. Rousell. November next year? I hope so.
- Curt
I've been admiring all your Polish figures during the Challenge Ray - they look great, and very tempting...
ReplyDeleteSay it isn’t so Ray… no more posts from you to enjoy!! It’s been awesome. I do hope you find flag website that seems to be eluding you.
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed this project Ray. I look forward to seeing this kit on table shortly.
ReplyDeleteLovely work, Ray! :)
ReplyDeleteAlwYs enjoy your Donnybrook posts, Ray. The Polish command turned out very well and I like the colors you used on them. Neater still is how I recognize the twin foot commanders just from their pose in old Renaissance paintings! 👍
ReplyDeleteThe leopard skin came out great on that Hero- nice work Ray!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Ray
ReplyDeleteLovely work, Ray!
ReplyDeleteVery fine Polish, Ray!
ReplyDeleteHi Ray:
ReplyDeleteI've truly marveled at your output this AHPC. You've tackled some obscure subjects and brought them to life. These figures prove my point, they're full of life and colour. Well done.
Cheers, MikeP
Splendid bunch of Polish command, lovely finish!
