From MartinC Skaro - Strange Dr (27pts)

My journey around the Galaxy has reached Skaro and obviously as a child who grew up in the 1970s it had to be Dr Who and specifically the man with the scarf - Tom Baker - with his trusty sidekick K9, surely the most famous remote controlled car in the world

The figures are from Warlord and painted up quite nicely, but i think the scarf should be it's own 28mm figure

Points are 5 for Dr Who and a couple for K9 and 20 for Skaro = 27

Now the tricky part I'm next to the great abyssal thingy and want to move to the next planet but have only done 3 planets. I'm sure the stewardess with appear with an answer if I press this button, she was very good with the peanuts last time.  If I can then I'll wander on down to Cybertron.

"Would you like a jelly baby?" I must admit that the totally bonkers Tom Baker was my favourite incarnation of the Doctor when I was growing up. And that scarf definitely deserves to have it's own model.

My understanding of how you can travel between the rings is that you can use the Great Abyssal even if you haven't visited four planets on your current ring.

  1. Dr Who never was mainstream in Finland, nor underground in my circles, so I usually ignore everything about different doctors and daleks when they are mentioned (in this Challenge, since they are nowhere else), but this scarf guy looks good. I could see myself buying and painting that fellow.

  2. Never watched Dr Who, though it was on CBC tv all the time.
But I did, and still do, covet that scarf!

    Cool figure, and excellent painting!

    1. cheers, Dr Who was occasionaly brilliant, often laughably poor and frequently OK. Not a lot of competition inthe 1970s

  3. Love the scarf, I hope you got the colours in the tight order? You know how meticulous those whovians can be. ;-)

  5. Those are great figures! K9 was the apex of cheesiness but I loved Tom Baker and in some ways prefer the cheesy 70s show to the often earnest and preachy version today. I’m pretty sure Baker did a lot of coke while filming.
    Well done. Cheers, MikeP

  6. Lovely - there are more colours in that scarf than in a Landsknecht uniform!
