Dear All
Roundway Tower is about alternate history and these are the components for my entry centered around a card building from an old Citadel Miniatures card building book Townscape. Actually some buildings from this featured in an earlier challenge entry.
The traditional history is ..... 1505 and outside a sleepy small town in the Holy Roman Empire in Southern Germany a sleepy guard is on duty outside the town hall.
The terrain feature is designed to fit on to two other bases so can also be used a a complete renaissance type small town for an impetus games I have.
The alternate history is .....1936 England, outside the grammar school in Stratford Upon Avon local VI form students prepare to defend the School against advancing Red forces. Not sure who decided it was a good idea to give these kids 303's! ........ These figures are from the Gripping Beast site - Woodbine Miniatures, very nice figures.
Points wise not sure about the terrain piece as it is a card building cut out. Previously Curt awarded 10 points for a base so have gone with that?
So that terrain 10 plus 25 for the figures and 30 for the challenge - 65.
On to the last challenge before the deadline and will be using Sarah's balloon to assault the Peak!
Cheers Jez
I really love the building, I think I remember the book. The schoolboys are great, very "IF..."

KenR : 28mm WW1 ANZAC Infantry (140 pts)
Quite literally it just all in a days work ! Amazing what a bit of focus will do.
I started these at 8am and just finished them now at 8pm, chuck in a bit of TV watching and walking the dogs that's not to shabby.
There are more 28mm WW1 figures from Woodbine Design Company and are the orignal figures released in the range. I needed these few figs to finish off a third battalion of these so the Challenge was ideal to get the enthusiasm up to finish them.
These figures are quite versatile, we have used them for ANZAC troops when we refought Gallipoli but they have also doubled as British Infantry in our Mesopotamia games and of course they would be good for dismounted Aussie Light Horse.
There are 24 Infantry and an MG base with the MG and 3 crew, the equivalent of 28 Figures at 5 pts a piece that's 140 points. Is it enough to keep me in the top ten ?
It's been a cracking Challenge again this year, it's been great to see everyones efforts as the 3 months has just flown by. Personally I made a big dint in my WW1 Mesopotamia collection "to do" pile, in fact I got all the figures I prepped done except some British Cavalry. I added to my WW2 Desert collection as well with some vehicles and finally there was the "must do" Spanish Civil War entry. I will do some end of Challenge photos tomorrow.
So that's all Folks. Thanks very much to everyone who has left kind comments on my entries over the last few months. Thanks to my Thursday Minion Jamie and of course to the Snowlord himself, Curt, who started off and continues this madness every year. A donation is on its way to a local animal charity.
Curt We Salute You !
See you all next year. Pop by my Yarkshire Gamer website now and again to say hello.
From Byron:
Not a bad way to spend the day at all! I like your painting on these as they look suitably rugged as the ANZACs should! The colours seem spot on to what I know of the period and I really like the rough scrub basing you are using, it looks splendid against the figures. Excellent overall painting and appearance and a period that I don't think gets enough attention wargames wise.

From KenR : 28mm WW1 British Commanders & Support (50 Points)
A small group of figures for entry number 4.
As I was prepping figures for the challenge I realised that having sorted out the Signallers and Indian Infantry my "WW1 to paint" box was left with a few Figs I had probably just forgotten about, so I thought why not, it's a Challenge, let's empty the box.
The first 4 figures are from The Woodbine Design Company and their 28mm WW1 in the East range, sold together as a pack as ANZAC Command. I will use them as Brigade Commanders for our "If the Lord Spares Us" games, in fact they left the paint table and went straight onto the gaming table (hence the background on the photos) As we are currently doing The Battle of Ctesiphon.
The final figure was a donation from one of the regular attendees at Yarkshire Gamers Wargaming Emporium, I believe it is a sculpt of a character from "Lawrence of Arabia" and was a free gift at a show, possibly Partisan.
At the very bottom of the box was this lovely Woodbine Design Company Trench Catapult, again 28mm. I had forgotten I had bought this as I already have one painted up but it's a welcome addition to the collection.
So that's 8 28mm Figs for 40 points plus the Catapult.
Back on the paint table we have more SYW 15mm Saxons, my Armour Entry (which I forgot about !) and my 28mm AWI Cavalry which are still suffering from Painters Block. See you soon.
Nice little entry to supplement your previous Indians! The officers are characterful sculpts to keep a keen eye on the men, and I do rather like that trench catapult with the casually-attired crew
50 points for you sir, and you're pretty close to half way to your target - well done!
Phil
