From GrantH - 150 Points of WW2 era Imperial Japanese Army
Ian S - Polish Renassaince Cavalry force
Dear All
I have not posted for awhile due to a number of issues like work and the lack of flock, i seem to be going through the stuff at a rapid rate. My latest order took over two weeks to arrive.
This project is a Polish Renaissance Cavalry force for my son. In late 2018 our local rule writer at our club turned up with a set of Renaissance rules and two armies, Ottomans and Imperials. My Son immediately decided that a Polish army would be an obvious choice especially as his partner is Polish. This era i have no knowledge of at all and when he said dad could you do the cavalry for me i agreed on the assumption that the two armies seen had a ratio on 3 infantry to 1 cavalry figure. He mention something about the force being based on some seige and promptly ordered the figures and left to go back to university.
Oh what joy when figures arrived and i found the cavalry force consisted of the following:
Winged hussars 72 figures in 6 units
Pancerni 84 figures in 7 units
Rajtar 24 figures in 2 units
Cossacks 48 figures in 6 units
Dragoons 16 figures in 2 units
Command 9 figures in 4 bases
Total 253 figures
In the spring of 2019 i completed 127 figures, so this challenge was the oppertunity to finish army.
All figures are from Lancshire games.
First up three units of cossacks
Two units of Rajtar
Four units of Pancerni
2 units of Winged hussar
Command Bases
So points:
Winged Hussars 24 15mm figures - 96pts
Pancerni 48 15mm figures - 192pts
Rajtar 24 15mm figures - 96pts
Cossaxks 24 15mm figures - 96 pts
Command bases 6 15mm figures - 24pts
Total pts - 504pts
Never again will i agree to paint an army for a relative without finding out what is in it.
In going through my odds box i found some more anciet indians enough for an 8 figure unit of light infantry 16pts
And to finish with the Indian Department independant company for the Britich Canadian army of 1812.
So Total points for post:
Polish Cavalry - 504pts
Ancient indians - 16pts
!812 Indians - 12pts
Total - 532pts.
The next Project is something for myself at last. With limited cavalry!
From MikeF - 30k Alpha Legion Vehicles for the Hydra! (70 points)
I haven't posted in a while, but I haven't been idle. Curt asked me to complete a superheavy vehicle for my 30k Alpha Legion and I've been working away at it for the past month. Alongside the big vehicle, I also completed 3 smaller (and not so small) vehicles for the Alpha Legion. These include a Rhino, Predator and Land Raider Proteus. The Predator is heavily converted and includes bits from Ebay company Blood & Skulls Industry. They produce great resin parts for GW models to give them a nice 30k feel. The turret, weapons and side sponsons are all from B&S's and all the parts have pre-drilled holes for magnets. The resin parts need some cleanup and heat bending, but no more than Forgeworld parts. I wouldn't consider it a "cheap" alternative to Forgeworld, unless you had some spare Rhino's or land raiders kicking around.
Hopefully next week I'll have the superheavy completed for the Altar.
The front plate is from the original Predator model. The sponsons are attached to the hull with magnets |
Executioner Plasma Gun |
Mega-Melta Cannon |
Camo netting at the rear for the sneaky Alpha Legion |
This was originally the armored proteus model with smaller side doors. I wanted to keep the big doors so I used the sponson from the Storm Raven gunship model. |
Thanks for visiting
Nice painting. Oh, and "Hail, Hydra!", errrrmmm, wrong franchise! Forget what I just said.
I've scored the three as 28mm vehicles and added a few points for the biggie and a few more for the conversion work.

From DaveD - Fallschirmjäger Battlegroup (292 points)
Hi,
Its been a while (still having issues with commenting on the blog ) - I have been busy with work and with a complicated paint job. I completed my 15mm WW2 late war Fallschirmajer battlegroup .
Oh I so enjoyed doing all that complicated camo schemes.
3 infantry platoons - 24 stands
Coy Hq - 2 stands
1 HMG platton
3 ATG stands
4 x 80mm mortar (some done before the challenge - based together with this lot
3 x 120mm (done before the challenge as above)
3 x Opel Blitz
2 Hetzer Tank Destroyers
So a total of :-
120 - Figures = 240
3 AT Guns = 12 points
5 vehicles = 40 points
Total 292 pts
Right on with some bigger toys next to take me to target
Another points bomb! This has been a "boom" of a day for me to be minioning.
Despite the hate, you've done a grand job on the camo. I'll bet you're happy to be finished with it.

From: AngusW - 28mm 'Polly' - 'Sarah the Sorceress' - 25pts
After entering the 'Hall of the Ancestors' yesterday, I find myself unable to proceed into the 'Guardroom' so I call upon Sarah the Sorceress to transport me to the 'Orcs Pit'. As an offering to the Sorceress I give you Polly, my final female camp follower from the Foundry Prussian Camp followers pack.
Now I'm in the Orcs Pit, I need to dig out some old snotlings I'm sure are hanging around.
Polly (5pts), + Sarah the Sorceress (20pts)
Another fine "lady" of the camp for your collection.

From SanderS: The Gallery of Ancestors. (116 points)
Hoi,
As with all the entries in this specific locale, I could have chosen quite a lot of stories about family members mostly from the WW2 era (my mother's Dad was a local mayor and had to go in hiding because he didn't want to collaborate with the Germans and my other Grandfather was a coalminer back then, but both of them passed before I was born. Something that has influinced my whole look upon painting figures and has a strong link to my hometown was a good subject for a project at least that's what I think.
At the time of writing I live in the utmost South of the Netherlands where indeed I was born, but for 7 years I lived and worked in the most Northern part as well, in the city of Groningen there were lots of bookshops and being a big city there were lots of people with different interests and when they pass on or move to a different interest they (or their family) sell their stuff to secondhand bookshops. At the time I was deep into Battletech (duhuh), 40K and Napoleonics but if I'd find a book that had nice uniform plates, I would buy that most likely as well. Now my main interest in historic gaming has ever been the British Redcoat and therefore I bought the book below without a second thought upon seeing it.
It took me a while before I actually read it and then it happened: one of the first things I check in a new Osprey buy are of course the colourplates. This book being no exception, I noticed a familiar church tower in the background of this plate:
I tried to find a better image:
Finally I read the caption to the plate:
As you can guess Roermond is the town I was born in... The cathedral church tower looks completely different now, being blown up by US forces in '44-'45, but the British had been here in my backyard in 1748! In the years between buying this book and now I have found the British army camped at and conquered the city several times during the conflict and when I retire I am going to research their stay and write a book about it. It appears the King of England at the time tasked his court painter with painting soldiers from most of the regiments camped here and that's the origin of the plate above.
That plate has also been the cause for me doing a 7YW Minden-project in 1:72 and so I thought it would be nice to include the 21st Regiment of Foot (for Minden I actually need the 23rd Foot, but both of these regiments had blue facings and were Fusilier regiments so no worries!).
Miles wanted more 20mm figures and I guess 1:72 is close enough I gather. There's 24 figures in that scale which is good for 96 points an together with the bonus that would be 116 for my total.
Cheers Sander
And another 100-points-plus entry today! Lovely troops and a great back-story for why you painted them.
