Your minimalist pallet paid off handsomely on these horrors Stuart. I don't speak GW, but the flying ghost things in the first pictures look like something that I could use in my RPGs. And the hunchback dead horse thingy playing at the drum is the stuff of nightmares. Once again I will delegate the Skull inventory.
Welcome to the Painting Challenge. Here you will find the fabulous, fevered work of miniature painters from around the world. While participants come from every every possible demographic, they have three things in common: they love miniatures, they enjoy a supportive community, and they want to set themselves against the Challenge. This site features the current year's event along with the archives of past Painting Challenges. Enjoy your visit and remember to come back soon.

From DrQ: Myrmourn Banshees at Graveyard Beach (40 points)
I painted up the rest of my Nighthaunt from the Storm Strike starter box for the Graveyard Beach. I would have included more picks, but most of them were rubbish—totally washed out and hard to see the models. This is the best that my limited photoshop skills could pull off.
Not much to say on these ladies. I tried to keep to the same paints as the Nighthaunt Glaivewraith Stalkers from the Tomb area earlier. Most of the models are painted using Citadel Technicals: Hexwraith Flame for the body with Nighthaunt Gloom for their bodices and weapons (and a few other miscellaneous colours to help round out the effects). I decided not to paint the roses or skulls in separate colours like I did on the Glaivewraiths, but rather to extent the eerily glow to the entire base. I think it works better, but won't know until I get them in a real battle.
As far as points: the four 28mm models come to 20 points with another 20 points for the challenge area for a total of 40. Oh, and there's a total of six skulls lurking on those bases as well.

From DrQ: Glaivewraith Stalkers in the Tomb (40 points)
A few months back I picked up the Age of Sigmar: Storm Strike box, and for the Tomb I decided to paint up the Nighthaunt Glaivewraith Stalkers in the box. These are simple push-fit models, but good enough for the theme and an attempt at a new paint scheme.
They were painted up using some techniques I found on an old Warhammer TV episode—two coats of Citadel Hexwraith Flame, followed by two coats of Nighthaunt Gloom on the sheets, a quick drybrush with an off white, and then finish the owl.
Personally, I'm not so sure about the end result. The drybrush feels a bit too imprecise for these fellows. But, the two technical paints were really interesting to use. Nighthaunt Gloom is likewise great for an ethereal grave shroud vibe—especially when used after the Hexwraith. I'll definitely be using this combination again. I might try using the Hexwraith for the glow on my next Kharadron model and see if it works better than my current recipe.
As for points: four models are 20 points, and then another 20 points for the challenge area.
Additionally, these things models have a lot of skulls—the one on the right having fourteen alone! So, 18 more skulls for the skull throne!
This was the last room to clear out on level two, so from here I'm heading down the stair to the Knights Solar, where I plan on painting up some of the other half of the Storm Strike box...

From JamieM - ghouls and ghosts (122 points)
Anyway, February has seen me start about 5 projects, faffing about doing bits on each and finishing absolutely nothing. Until now that is! Herewith find some ghouls and ghosts from GW’s Nighthaunt range. Why did I start a new army? Well, my son has been dead keen to play miniatures games and we've bought a few GW ones to play. He also started badgering me about Age of Sigmar and so I caved in and bought the mid level starter set GW does for it, which is ridiculous value for what you get. And this way I can say that my spending is so I can spend more time with him.... and it has nothing at all to do ith my lack of willpower..... honest
Next up are the Glaivewraith Stalkers. Wouldn't fancy meeting them in a dark alley.
The sculpts are amazing, whatever you think of GW and their practices, they are absolutely at the cutting edge of plastic miniature technology.
And here is a family photo (except for the banshees, who I forgot to put in there)
