Visiting the Sixth Sphere: The Just Rulers
Keeping with what seems to be my preference for old TV shows this challenge, I submit from Space 1999 - Commander John Koenig & his brave crew.  

Commander Koenig calmly and carefully guides his resilient crew through 2 seasons of unexpected crisis after crisis,  meeting with and escaping multiple humanoid civilizations their runaway moon just happens to pass nearby.  These are Crooked Dice miniatures (Arc Crew 1 & 2) and were painted in TTC acrylics with a tint or two of contrast paint.  These figures plus the ones used in the Limbo entry complete a pulp game project I started in 2020.  Now to attempt to get a game in... 

 I painted more of the new Catalyst Battletech miniatures for a friend who requested the colours of “Olson's Raiders”.

These were base painted with my airbrush using a few Vallejo Game Colour Air purples and black.  Dry brushed with Titan Bluff and washed with my ancient GW purple wash. Bases are Secret Weapon concrete.  

Leading us to the Seventh Sphere where The Contemplatives rest is another young woman from the Pulp Figures Dangerous Dames pack:

This lady prefers a rational thinking man who can see the bigger picture, so we are here to visit with Albert Einstein

 

 

I suspect Albert would not have liked Space 1999’s concept of a nuclear explosion accidentally powering the runaway moon through space as opposed to destroying it.  Perhaps he would have reused his quote, “God does not play dice with the universe” or maybe he would just accuse the writers of being really lazy.  This fun to paint Boarshead miniature and our dangerous dame were completed with TTC & Foundry acrylics.   


15 28 mm figures * 5 points = 75 points.
Just rulers & Contemplatives * 20 points each for 40 points

For a total of 115 points.

TomL: More CSA, PF Gal and Violence for 205 points

Flying through the abyss we reach what will be our last stop - the Seventh Circle.  Bringing us to Violence is the final Pulp Figures miniature from the Gangland Gals set:

 

 

I thought these Crooked Dice figures would be the perfect choice for violence, or as Alex would say after a milk+ drink, “the old ultra-violence”.

 

 

 

Moving carefully away from Alex and 'friends', I present more Warlord Epic Confederates. This week I finished 4 stands of CSA (and touched up my two test stands to match) which completed two CSA Regiments:  The 8th FL & the 57th VI. The newly painted boys:

 

 This completes my CSA regiments in this planned paint scheme.  So it's time for a group shot:

 

 

I will return in a week or two to painting the Union side after I contemplate my path through Paradise.

Tuesday TomL, Limbo and more Union ACW troops - 190 points

This weeks entry starts me off in Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ with the first circle of the Abyss - Limbo.  Introducing these lost figures is our guide from the Gangland Gals set from Pulp Figures. Painted using the reaper brown triad & black glaze, Foundry skin tones, contrast paint base colours with some Foundry highlights.

 These figures (ARC Astronauts & Armed ARC Astronauts) from Crooked dice were from picked up in 2020 and cleaned and prepped for painting for a pulp project I started in late 2023.  That project was totally derailed by my enthusiastic wandering through the AHPC-IV library in 2024.  Only fitting we pull these back from the shelves and put some paint on them for the Limbo entry. Painted using contrast paints for the uniform with TTC and Vallejo paints for other areas. You might have a feeling of Deja vu as you look at the last picture as I bought two of the same set of astronauts in the same purchase. Ah well...

 

Continuing on with my ACW project, here is another ACW Union infantry regiment - The 115 Indiana Regiment.  

 

 

Originally I was planning on painting 6 Union Regiments of infantry then start in on the CSA.  I’m rethinking that and will begin preparing the next two regiments as CSA regiments.  Here are the three Union regiments I have completed so far (the 20th Maine was painted before the AHPC).

From JamieM - 7TV Argonauts

More 7TV as I discovered these undercoated and based figures in my boxes of holding whilst rummaging through looking for something else.

These Captain Scarlet inspired figures weren’t bought for any particular reason.... but the refreshed “Argonauts” cast from 7TV gave me an idea as I needed some robotic minions with rifles.

In a wardrobe decision worthy of the 60’s & 70’s shows that 7TV is based on, I decided to paint their skin and hair silver, as if they’ve had silver makeup applied to make them “robots” in a budgetary conscious way.

All in green for a consistent look and I added a sculpt of theirs that I liked (one of the females with a longer jacket) and she can perhaps be the unit leader.

Next up are two Talos (Taloi?). These are larger chaps and form part of the mechanical menace that the madman Ulysses Argo unleashes on the world.

I’m not over the moon about how the brass turned out, but I’ve already done it twice as I didn’t like my first effort either so I’ve decided to just move on.....

Just for context, I’ve included a picture of the full Argonaut “cast” that I have. The other figures were half finished at the end of a previous challenge and I hadn’t gotten around to finishing them until now.

These are some of the other nefarious droids Argonuses to wreak havoc.

No points for the other figures, so just 6 x 28mm figures for 30 and 2 x 40mm figures for 14 to add up to 44 for the post.

They remind me of some kind of Dr Who villains! Good one :-)

Confused, then you are younger than 50. The Banana Splits Showe was big when I was a very young child and it had the best theme song 

It was so good there was even a punk version by the Dickies

The Banana Splits drove 6 wheeled amphibious Argacats (which were a nightmare to paint - yellow, orange and white are rubbish colours to use and black lines are spectacularly unforgiving) and they will allow me to mess about in the Douglas Shallows.

These figures are from Crooked Dice and called The Friut Loops

So that is 4x28mm vehicles and drivers = 90pts plus 30 for the location

Right now I expect you all to be able to sing all the words so go back to the top and practice

From DaveD - I know song that will on your nerves... get on your nerves. You are a bad man..Cracking job on these Martin - I look forward to seeing them on our Gaslands track... mind my version will have a lot more firepower mmmwahaha!

Hoi,

Just a short and low points post today, can't let the Friday Minions down eh? I have been busy painting the Theme Round entry lately so only managed to paint up Crooked Dice's very nice little Landrover Defender model. At first I was actually considering to paint it in the more traditional racing green with white roof but in the end went with this more sandy colour.

While I am not entirely happy with the windows, I do like the little car and it should net me a further 15 points. If ever I manage to get round and getting my driver's license I would like to drive one of these.

A small entry but a great little offering, the sandy colour gives the look of an ex-military vehicle. The weathering is excellent and I like the depth you've achieved on the windows. 

I gather these are quite brutish to drive, and come with absolutely no mod cons! A colleague of mine drives one and can seat 10.
