From HayesW 28mm Vietnam Figures (75 Points)

I really enjoyed painting these 28mm USMC engineers, Vietnamese civilians, and some NVA and USMC casualties. This is a mix of figures. The civilians are Empress, the USMC M-60 Team are Gringo 40s, and the engineers and casualties are 3d Breed 3d printed. I think they all look fine together as far as being close enough for the game table!

I’m excited to finally be getting some civilians together. Next up are MACV-SOG!

Hayes, these figures look just great. The civilians are super and I'm sure will come in handy in games, and the NVA and GIs are really well done, is that a playing card I see peeking out from a helmet band? Fantastic!

From ErikP: Horse & Musket Civilians in the fields, Wargames Foundry 28mm (25 points)

 Hello Everyone, 

This is a set of 28 mm Wargames Foundry, 18th century civilians bringing in bundles of crops.  These are for my 28mm Napoleonic games, mostly I use Sharp Practice rule set, and have done a few small games of Black Powder too. 

These five (5) foot figures with a few bundles of wheat, the sack is from another pack, I think it's also Wargames Foundry. They were a lot of fun to paint, as well as the few bits of bundled crops for a little scatter terrain, so I did these too. I'll submit the separate Terrain Post for the couple of points they might be worth.

For Sarah's Choice consideration, two farm ladies.

Probably, no one will get the quote, but that's okay. 

Painting these I use several different types of paints; Army Painter Speed Paints 2.0, Vallejo, Army Painter Quick Shades. I used the Speed Paints to get started, then add layers of regular paints, and dry brushing, use quick shades, then more dry brushing, and touch ups. 

One on the funniest challenges of painting these civilians was the water in the buckets.  I wanted to get a good water effect, and I am pretty happy with the results.  

I used Speed Paint 2.0 Tyrian Navy and added more Speed Paint about a 2/1 mix to dilute it.  Then once dry used gloss varnish, about three coats. I also used it on the wooden spoon and the lower face of the guy drinking, but it doesn't show up as well. Might need a couple extra coats for varnish.

I enjoy adding extras to my game tables, even when it has nothing to do with the scenario objectives.  Scatter terrain, animals, and civilians of course.  Just to add a little something to make things more interesting.  

With these done, I'm off to finish some more Prussians.

Now we all know that the first rule of Fight Club is that you do not talk about Fight Club. That is of course why you lot don't know that fight Club was around in the 18th Century.....

I got these figures around 10 years ago as a freebie when I joined the Old Glory Army Membership offer. They aren't the greatest of figures but are full of character and were fun to paint for a change. They are from the Duelist set and there are 18 of them though the town Burgher is missing from the group shot as I'd left him out. The sharp eyed of you will spot Molly Miggins who appeared in my last post and stuck out a leg to attract Lady Sarah's Limousine driver so I could get a lift so I've left her out of my points total

So in summary

17 figures @5 points = 85 points

I can't shoehorn this into a studio

Now to date I have 5 Green Studio and 4 Blue studio visits, does that mean I can try and sit in the directors' chair or have I misread the rules? Its a bit late though I suppose

From Kerry T - Spot the Ringlet leader [Historical Drama; B&W; Limo] (215 points)

 Morning, afternoon & evening all.

Its been a busy week at work so I've had a quiet week after a points bomb last week. Still I've managed to get a few things done and managed to get to another studio this week. However after visiting this I'm now under no illusions that my dashing good looks are now fading. I have so many wrinkles that I have to screw my hat on, joints that creak so loud that I have no hope of creeping up and scaring the living daylights out of someone. Thus rather sadly I've come to the conclusion that not even with a mountain of filler, with an oil drum rather than a syringe of Botox and gallons of hair dye that my dream of starring on the silver screen will never become reality. Sniff, snivel, wail, sniff

Being grey these days I first tried the Black & White studio and despite being complemented on my near likeness to Bella Lugosi I was politely but firmly asked to move on. While there I took a few snaps.....

Don't you just bloody hate Freshers' week!

Old, tired an bedraggled my feet would not propel me any further so I lay down in the middle of the road for a rest. I must have dozed off and woke to the screeching of brakes and an awful din. Yes I thought, I've been rediscovered and my hopes soared as I thought once more of those glittering lights, the promenade at Cannes and the Oscars.....

A nice lady called Sarah kindly offered me a lift in her car, I think I've met her before on board a yacht somewhere, she looks familiar somehow. She's going to drop me off somewhere I think, anywhere I like it seems but I don't seem to be able to make up my mind though. That bloody driver though told me to hurry up and make my mind up, can't drive around in circles you know, haven't got all day., I've got a forum to run you know.. He was a bit curt I think😀

After having strutted around before we started on the 21st December telling anyone that would listen that "my codpiece is bigger than yours" I thought it was about time I made a start of some Italian Wars figures. Some Perry Miniatures mounted crossbowmen to be precise.

This is where I have to confess that I made 2 errors. These figures are meant to be part of Giovanni delle Bande Nere Condotta. I've already painted a small pike block and wanted some cavalry to accompany them so I kept a flag or two.

 As usual I painted all 24 horses - only to then realise that I only bought 12 riders (doh). Perry sell the metal riders separately and you buy plastic horses for them but I miscalculated. The reason that there are no command figures is that they were going to come from the Light Cavalry box. I ordered 2 boxes in early December and thankfully they arrived this morning with part of the order having arrived last week. So I'll need to paint the rest some other time

That's a fabulous set of entries, Kerry! At least those freshers only stuck a traffic cone on the statue and didn't do something weird like adding random grass tufts...

You seem to have forgotten to claim points for the statue - I'll count it as a 28mm mounted figure.

As for your map - great idea with the figures on the studios they've been counted for. And I've just spotted my mistake from last week - I should have given you the "Historical Drama" bonus as well as you would have needed to go through there to get from High Adventure to World Cinema. As your ladies this week are clearly historical and somewhat dramatic, I'll correct my error with this post.

From Steve K: 28mm North African Civilians and market stalls (44 pts)

Im back at it, after the eating and drinking frenzy that is Christmas! I dont know about you guys but im glad that is all over and done with for another year....

So today I've finished off some 28mm bits and bobs for an upcoming game, pretty much just table dressing for a game of chain of command set in North Africa in 1941.

first up, Civvies!

6 civilians, these are Perry miniatures from their Crusades range.

And to finish off, a couple of 3D printed Market stalls, complete with boxes of fruit and veg. Fiddly things to put together!

2 x Market stalls - i am at the mercy of the minions, I've no idea how to point these so will have to see what the powers that be say.

Very nice work Steve. I really like seeing civilian figures/accoutrements on a tabletop, it really helps to set the tone and period for the game. While the market stalls and associated bits may have been fiddly to get finished, they certainly have paid off in their overall effect. With this in mind, I'm going to give you 7 points for each stall.
