TeemuL: Nice to see the "default gun" of WW2 German wargamers, Flak 88. Just add a couple King Tigers and Jagd Panthers and you have a nice army to wonder how Germans lost the war. But no, you seem to have taken the historical road here and added jeeps and a bulldozer, excellent! You don't see that many bulldozers on wargaming tables, good to see at least one in this Challenge. I have a faint recollection of seeing some others, too, but I can't be sure. And 20mm, the bulldozer definitely looks larger, so you have done great brushwork on it!

From MattW: Final Countdown (83 Points)

 Final Countdown

Completing the last bits I can before the challenge ends …. I have surpassed my point goal my quite a lot this year so a very productive challenge for me. A big congratulations to all of those who have entered the challenge and completed your personal goals.

Final building for the challenge for me 28mm building from Tabletop Workshop plastic buildings, I have added plaster then stippled with a toothbrush, sanded flat then to remove the peaks, before painting. This will join my medieval city build this year.

Wonderful work Matt and delighted to hear that you've had a good Challenge! I love how you made that medieval building your own with the addition of the plaster - very nice. I also like all the 20mm WWII kit. It's such a great scale for this period, with so much available in kits and diecast. The Dutch staff is inspired.

Well done, sir!

From MattW: Sarah Limousine, unfinished business Roman Aux Cavalry, Roman Aux Infantry (215 points)

Unfinished Business

First off this week a little ride in Sarah’s limousine, from too

As payment for the luxury,  a female miniature from the Warlord Dr Who Range, “ River Song, The impossible Astronaut”. I am quite happy with my denim result, the figure sort of looks like the character but is a little flat in the resin casting.

River Song, the Impossible Astronaut

I arrive by luxury  limousine to offer my “Under Construction” SHQ Dutch 20mm Marines, these chaps were commenced before I went on holidays in November/December  have been awaiting highlighting and basing ever since. I did not finish the support company off as planned, so it will miss the cut off for today, so more under construction to do before they can be based….!

WIP heavy weapons for my Dutch marines

Next up a Ala of Roman cavalry from the Foundry Range, I really love these miniatures and I think they are still the best imperial Roman’s available.

Finally a unit of Auxiliary infantry, again Foundry Miniatures with Warlord Command, and First Corps miniatures.

Roman Auxiliary III Augusta Thracium

Wow! What an entry - Dr Who, Dutch marines (hmmm - given that almost all of the Netherlands is below sea level, doesn't that imply that all Dutch soldiers are marines?) and Romans. What's not to love about this post?

Group shot from RossM

Another year, another Challenge ends. This is my ninth time in the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge and it has become not only an annual event but a great source of inspiration and motivator for myself and many others.

Hats off to Curt, Sarah and all minions and participants for making this such a great experience.

This year saw my points total exceeded for my highest score in all the Challenges I have participated in. Whilst this isn't a target that many would struggle to achieve, I have always been a slow but steady painter.

So here are the painted offerings from this year's Challenge all together.

The 28mm submission

The 20mm submissions

The 15mm submissions

One of the strange parts of our hobby is that we invest considerable amounts of money and time in collecting, assembling and painting our chosen miniatures. Some, my wife for one, would say too much of all. Then  we put them all in boxes only to be seen every once in a while.

The entire submission for AHPC X 2019-20

Thanks again to eveyone involved in this hobby extravaganza and see you all in the QC2020.

Cheers, Ross

From RossM - 15mm, 20mm and 28mm figures - (96 points)

A mixed bag here showing the varied projects that are nearly always on the painting table in some way or another.

First up are 5 Arab swordsmen in 15mm, the manufacturer is unknown although recon it to be Minifigs. One of these was painted prior to the start of the Challenge no idea which one it is now

Next up are support elements in 20mm for the D.A.K that where started at the beginning of the challenge. With no real crewed weapons here these count as infantry figures only.

Now there are a few different 28mm figures. Greek skirmishers from Wargames Foundry for Mortal Gods and a piece of scatter terrain from Grand Manner for the same.

A Moor command stand for ADLG in 28mm. The standard bearer and command figure have been painted to join the religious type on this stand. The figures are from Gripping Beast and there will be more from this range on my blog later this year. The flag originally had a green trim and green triangles on the inner panels however, as red and green should never be seen this was over painted in a muted red to fit better with the colours on the figures.

Some armies are just never finished and the Late Romans would be that one for me. These figures from Gripping Beast have been gathering dust since being prepped for last year's Challenge and never made the painting line. Well that has now been rectified and all that is needed now is a game for them to be used in.

The scores so far

5 x 15mm infantry - 10 points
6 x 20mm infantry - 24 points
11 x 28mm infantry - 55 points
1 scenery piece (1.5" radius and 1.5" tall - 10.6 cubic inch or 5% of the 6" cube) - 4 points

The running total

440 points - 88% of the Challenge total

This is beautiful and eclectic submission. Loving the basing and the pile of pots is worth more than 4
