From Barks: HP Lovecraft (Literature)(25 points)

In the eldritch confines of my study, I unearthed a diminutive relic of unspeakable provenance—an accursed miniature that defied the feeble constraints of mortal comprehension. The blasphemous sculpt depicted an otherworldly figure, a ghastly visage that whispered of realms beyond the ken of human perception. In the sickly luminescence of my dimly lit chamber, the colors upon my palette seemed to shift and writhe, revealing cyclopean landscapes and nameless horrors. The twisted sculptor, a shadowy adept in the forbidden arts, had rendered the accursed author with a fiendish precision that echoed the cosmic malevolence of the Great Old Ones. As I gazed upon the diabolical creation, a palpable chill gripped my very soul, and I could discern the spectral murmurs of eldritch entities weaving their inscrutable tales within this infernal masterpiece. The mere act of contemplating the arcane artifact threatened to plunge my psyche into the abyssal depths of cosmic horror, leaving me teetering on the brink of sanity.*

HP Lovecraft

Howard Philips Lovecraft age 43 (1934)

"I am Providence."

HP Lovecraft and his friend LP Hovercraft, from Impact! Miniatures. They've done a good job of capturing HPL's eldritch chin. I picked this up years ago as a potential coach for a Blood Bowl team. The 'Literature' part of the Challenge is perfect for this. I don't have access to all my paints, and haven't been able to highlight his suit or fix up the base rim.

1 x 28mm miniature (5 points)

Literature (20 points)

*I used ChatGPT as a very strong starting point for this paragraph. Wow.

From Millsy: Everything about this post screams eldritch horror and that's before we even talk about the miniature! If his long face is anything to go by then he was looking into a bleak future where our lives are governed by unimaginably powerful beings that see us as mere playthings. I'm talking about AI of course but maybe Cthulhu would be preferable?

That's a great miniature Barks and he'd make a brilliant coach for a Bloodbowl Team. Maybe that's his playbook tucked under his arm and the "waterboy" wrapped around his leg? 25 points it is!

From SanderS: Lady Sarah's Yacht to Noel's Comet please! (30 points)

 Hoi,

As the Challenge is nearing it's end I think I am  worth a few posts yet.

I do need to get to Noel's Comet and therefore need to get on board with the Yacht. So another Female figure is in order and just like last time it she has a Blood Bowl background; I choose this Dejah Thoris figure by Impact! Games. She has 3 arm options to be made into a star player, coach or referee, it's the latter option I went with as I think I rather like having referee (and other sideline figures) to go with my games, specially since I am 3d printing a stadium for BB.

Originally I had planned this figure for entering Barsoom, but since I will not be going any further than the comet, she will have to do for now. Also ready for today's post is a Rat Ogre to be used by Mark for his Skaven BB team that I have painted earlier this Challenge.

When Mark gave me this figure to paint I wasn't exactly sure it was a real BB figure but the lack of any weapons does make it look the part. I just didn't know how to get his team-colours of yellow (gold) and black on it untill I noticed the loincloth.

These two 28mm figures will deliver me 10 points together with 20 points bonus is another 30 points for the roster.

This is kinds fun being able to minion new folks work for a change.  Great stuff for your Bloodbowl project Sander.  That's quire a fetching referee, are there three other figures spelling out the M, C and A?  However, I'm not sure that I'd give her much of a chance against that hulking great Rat Ogre.  I am reminded of the train for major league umpires that involves role playing with "managers" yelling in the umps faces and kicking dirt on their uniforms, I'm sure something similar would work for Bloddbowl.

From ScottM: Referee for Teleportation & some Rangers (65 points)

The first part of my post is my tribute for teleporting from the Knights Solar to the Lair of the Great Beast. This 28mm metal fig is from Impact Miniatures.

I think I must have picked this fig up back when I was still playing Blood Bowl a fair number of years ago. Simple easy to paint fig.

The second part of my post is this group of British Rangers/Backwoods Militia for the French and Indian War. These 28mm metal figs are from Galloping Major Wargames.

These are the first Galloping Major Wargames figs I've painted up. They're pretty nice, my only quibble is their hands tend to be quite large. Otherwise they're nice figs.

So that should be:
1 - 28mm foot fig + relocation bonus = 25 points
8 - 28mm foot figs (Rangers) = 40 points
For a total of 65 points.

I do hope that the match is being played somewhere warm - that referee could catch a nasty chill in that outfit.
Nice work on the rangers.
