From DavidB: Space Mongols and First Responders (220 points)

Unfortunately, Spring is on the way...still snowing here, but getting closer to the end of this season of AHPC. I am still working with my airbrush and having just as much fun with it, but also aggravation! I think my painting days are half painting and half cleaning the airbrush! Thankfully my wet pallet has enabled me( sometimes too much) to keep my desk full of miniatures needing paint. Without a separate desk for airbrushing, this means I often have to purge the desk of miniatures by finishing them. If I shuffle them to the side, I know they may linger a long time in obscurity.

Cyberpunk got a new video game and Monster Fight Club has teamed up with Project Red for a miniature skirmish game. I bought several packs at last year's Adepticon for some Scifi first responders. The police force is destined for 5150 New Hope City. The PD will be NPC or PCs or even find themselves in the crossfire of MERCs in MERCs. These are actual police not corporate, so in the Cyber Punk game they are just as much corporate victims as the citizens of the city.

It took awhile to get the police text on the body armor, I finally succeeded with a careful black drybrush. The bases are asphalt molded putty and weathered heavily.

A detective and his Cane Corso cyber dog. He is modeled after the American actor Bernie Hutchinson, and a very good likeness.( the cop from The Crow)

Both the canines may get police lights on their shoulders, but I kinda like them better as they are now.

The miniatures are default in three packs so I got three packs of trauma teams.

An android with a rifle and lights for immediate threat removal. All trauma team members are clearly marked as medical, but the mega city is dangerous with corporate hit teams, edge runners and gangs. All medical personnel are armed for defense.

The VTOL pilots. One male and one female.

A male and female overwatch team. Ex soldiers or PD they are immediate support for the docs and heavily armed. I am sure both are CLS( combat lifesaver) certified.

Out of nine miniatures I have two EMTs. Again one female and one male. Also two patients one whose health insurance is good while the poor miss in purple is awaiting approval of credit for treatment.

I really like these miniatures a lot especially the trauma team and all the pouches and equipment modeled on them. They could even be used in a homegrown skirmish with players rescuing crossfire victims in 5150. I think they are also good medical personnel for Stargrave....but really there isn't many scifi med teams out there.

Continuing in the red and white theme, More white scars in the form of  Incursors. Phobos armored scouts for the white scars with added insignia from Pop Goes the Monkey and GW White Scar assessory sprues.

The Sgt is using the intersessor arm with two skulls. I have included that arm a few times in the army, but this one was cut down and combined with a shouldered bolter arm. It does seem that the Sgt is going to taunt the enemy with them or pitch them into enemy territory for the squad to retrieve. They get modifiers to hit with the optics and may be split into five man squads, hence two haywire mines for enemy armor.

A five man Intersessor squad the Sgt has a white scar head and power sword.

Another five man squad with a chainsword equipped Sgt.

The squad as a full 10 man squad and this time the Sgt has a powerfist. The marine behind him with raised bolter is the test model from last year.

I had a few extra intersessor bodies while building the White Scars and opted to build three variants of Sgt load-outs depending on how I wanted to field the squad/s.

Although all my White Scars are Primaris Marines, I am building them with the rule of cool so original marines have a place too...like these Vanguard Veterans. Jump pack assault infantry is a hallmark of white scars as much as bikers.

These veterans are the first wave of the jump infantry with regular assault marines to follow.

Of all the White Scars, I enjoyed painting each of these veterans the most as they are packed with gaudy decorations. I did make sure to squirrel away some white scar markings on each one besides the iconography they already had molded on.

That is all for this week as I clear my desk again.

18 cyberpunk first responders-(actually 19 but 2 are prone)- 90 points
10 Incursors- for 50 points and 32 skulls
11 Intersessors- for 55 points and 28 skulls
5 Vanguard Veterans- for 25 points and 34 skulls

220 points and 94 skulls
New skull tally of 600 clean skulls

Friday Minion: Oh David I'm in awe of how you keep up this tempo and get a great finish on so many models. Don't you have to go to work or sleep? Wonderful collection of minis, the white scars are ace, those trauma teams are superb models beautifully painted and those Police SWAT teams came out brilliantly.

The Crow, what a 90s throwback movie.

220 points for your tally, which I believe pushes you over your target with a week to spare. And barely needing to use the Studio bonuses, congratulations!

From Curt: Objective Markers for Turnip28 (25 Points)

Hey there!

This will probably be my last Turnip entry for the Challenge. Yes, yes, I know that there will be more than a few who will be muttering, 'It's about &*$#ing time!', but I have to say that I've had a tremendous amount of fun working on this project over the winter months. It's all horses for courses, right?

Turnip28 is focused on seizing and holding objectives. These are usually scattered around the battlefield, often nestled in tricky locations, all for opposing forces to bleed each other dry over. Objectives can just be simple tokens, but I thought it would be amusing to try to make them sympathetic to the weird and disturbed setting of T28.

I felt that an outhouse would be an excellent objective. Well, perhaps not one that's as malodorous as this thunderbox, but we all know: when you go to go - you GOT to go.

I quite enjoyed doing up this Catherine Wheel. In order to make it extra creepy (yes, as if it wasn't creepy enough) I added a Hanged Man, similar to what you'd find in a tarot deck. Hmm, will capturing this objective be good luck or bad?

Nothing like a guillotine to give you that reeal close shave. Also really handy for chopping carrots!

An abandoned trench pony. This poor little fella's a bit woebegone, with his heavy burden of victuals and war materiel. I'm sure any unit would be delighted to have him in their ranks.

And finally, a beloved piano for the troops to gather around, singing songs of long lost lentils and new found parsnips. Looks like it needs a bit of TLC, and perhaps a good tuning.

As to points, well, the bases have a pony and two figures for 15, and let's say 10 for the rest combined?  I'm not fussed - I'll leave it to our Phabulous Minion Phil to come up with a suitable number.

Now, back to the hobby desk to see what else I can get done before the Challenge concludes.

Have a great weekend everyone!

- Curt

Friday Minion: Aha wonderful! I love the idea of your rootkin trudging miles to blast away at each other with rusty firearms, all for the pleasure of a tinkle on a beat up, untuned piano or a quiet (?!) moment on the thunderbox. The whole set is bonkers, and entirely fitting 'the lore'.

I also hadn't really noticed your basing on these, which has a subtle, bleak look to it wit the dying plants. Perfect, more, more!

I can't argue with 25 points, seems very fair.

From TamsinP: German Propaganda Team [Historical Drama] (30 points)

Thinking about what I had in my stash that could be used for this studio, I remembered this pair of figures that I'd picked up from Colonel Bill's at the SELWG show last year. I thought they'd fit quite well with the theme - they're historical and what is propaganda other than a (stilted to fit ideology) representation of dramatic events?

As with the Japanese casualties, I have done these on a 50mm base so that they can be used as a jump off point for Chain of Command, or simply as set dressing.

After this year's Challenge I think it will be time to knuckle down and add rubble and stuff to all the bases for my Arnhem collection.

With this entry, I have now completed every studio in the Green and Blue zones. I probably won't be visiting the Gift Shop or taking the Yellow Brick Road - all of my attention is now firmly on my Director's Chair task. It's coming along quite nicely, thanks for asking!

For Points

2 x 28mm foot @ 5 = 10 points

1 x studio @ 20 = 20 points

Total = 30 points

Friday Minion: Aha, we all love a bit of 'set dressing' vignettes, nice work on these cameramen. I do like your feldgrau tone. Very fitting for AHPC Studios and the location. Bravo!

From TamsinP: The Path Of Infinite Sorrows [World Cinema] (30 points)

"The Path Of Infinite Sorrows" is the title of a book about the Kokoda Trail and Buna-Gona-Sanananda campaigns in Papua New Guinea during WW2, but unusually focusing on the Japanese side.

I bought these figures from The Assault Group to bulk out a different order. I decided to base them individually on 50mm bases so that they can be used as more easily transportable jump off points for Chain of Command (the ones I did in AHPC XII aren't so easily transportable).

<<<adding back in the stuff that went missing>>>

I'm putting these forward for "World Cinema" as I'm not Japanese, nor am I from Papua New Guinea.

Just one studio left to go in the Green Pass zone...

For Scoring

4 x 28mm prone figures @ 2.5 = 10 points

1 x studio @ 20 = 20 points

Total = 30 points

<<<end of adding missing stuff back in>>>

Friday Minion: a bleak take on Jump-off Points here Tamsin, but will serve to keep your points ticking upwards. Half points for the prone figures is 10 for all four, plus the location bonus. Is the basing the old mixed herbs jungle debris trick?

Now where's that spaceship at?

Edit to reply - yes, it's the mixed herbs trick; spaceship will hopefully be next Friday - just bits to go with it to paint, plus decals and weathering on the exterior to do on the ship itself.

From DavidB: Models and Memories (215 points)

Yes, I do have almost as many painted models as those that do lie in the Mountain of Neglect. Above are the poorly painted Goliath gang Jersey Boyz and yes the leader is named "Situation" They spend their downtime pumping iron and slamming Jaeger Bombs while using crude pick up lines at downhive bars. I was so proud of their camouflage and red and flesh tones, but they are rather dated now.

These are the War Dawgs. I only adjusted the flesh-tones on these guys, but they were the last crew I ran in the old Necromundia.

I have improved a little bit...besides not sloshing paint on bases!

I tweaked the fleshtones on the old gang so they wouldn't look outdated with these guys. They were customized with new war-gear scavenged and bought in the game. They were white primer.

The last of the old plastic goliaths in War Dawg colors.

"new" War Dog gangers to represent the promoted Juves.

The fourth Juve now with pigment and a shotgun ganger and heavy with a heavy bolter.

The War Dawgs are now roster accurate with WYSIWYG. They do sub as chaos cultists for cultists leaning towards Khorne Blood-for-the-Blood-God variety.
Now some new Goliaths from the new game. These are the Blue Bloods.

They are a lot larger than the older sculpts and still have the same design cues.

I do like these a lot more, but am still getting used to the rules.

I will be playing them for the first time with my gaming group at Adepticon on the freeplay tables.

Bases were primed in gloss black then painted in acrylic. I used an eraser to chip them up then painted P3 pig iron in the "chip areas" leaving black outlines. Then I weathered the holy heck out of them.

Also introducing the Death Korps of Krieg 215th Jaegers for Kill Team. I have two boxes of them for building all the options and also have plans for them in 40k, inquisimundia, 5150, Stargrave, ....

Sgts, melee, and veteran guardsmen.

Special weapon troopers...a thumper with grenade launcher, flametrooper, plasma gunner and a boltgun.

Plenty of bog standard guard troopers.

Medics on the flanks surrounding the zealot reading from the Tome of Sgt Bromley"...If I can't make you smart, I will make you strong. You will do push-ups till Sgt Bromley is tired of drinking coffee." Also the commo specialist with flares and a map or Opord.

 A spotter and a sniper.

My favorite of the Jaegers, an EOD tech with up armored chest plate and a skull on his mask getting ready to use something that probably involves the serious putty.

I really like everything about this model. he is well equipped for his job including wire cutters.

The kit had a loose mine that I absolutely had to make a marker for.

The Hospitaler for Sisters of Battle ready to assume medical duties with an Agent of the Imperium. She is pretty clean and soft spoken, She will be used for a ride in Sarah's Limo service. I am running outta time to get those rides in!

The K-9 is the doggo that was missing from last years challenge he turned up in the necromunda box of all places....Probably was finding contraband that the gangers were using/making/selling. He is a very good boy and hopefully will give me a start on the cold war with 5 points! he is a very good boy!

11 old Skool Goliaths for 55 points with 25 skulls
10 goliaths for 50 points and 23 skulls with fabulous blue hair.
20 jaegers from Krieg for 100 points and 74 skulls
A very nice sister for fixing wounds not making them 5 points
and a very good boy- 5 points

215 points and 132 skulls. new skull tally is 506 noggins.

Friday Minion: Welcome back David! I would congratulate you for the week off, but this was last week's posts and I know you're cooking up another whopper for us.

Great work on this batch, love the comparison between the old school Necromunda Goliaths and the chunky new sculpts. But my true love is those Death Korps of Krieg, nice choice of green overcoats. I had loads of Astra Militarum Imperial Guard back in the day, it's no great surprise I ended up a historical gamer in the end.

215 points for your tally, and you're so close to your 2000 target.
