From RafaelO: More Napoleonic French and some Warmaster bonus (193 points)

 

Hello everyone!

Two more weeks of hobby progress and some fresh units added to my army. Last week I managed to paint quite a lot, but… I completely forgot to write the post. Yes, yes, I know — I deserve some kind of punishment for that 😅. This week, however, I not only finished a few more units but also remembered to actually write the post! Hurrah!

Let’s start with some heavy cavalry. First up is part of my French Cuirassier Cavalry for the Heavy Cavalry Division. I painted eight figures, mounted on four bases, so I can field them as one or two units depending on the ruleset.

Next, we have some Polish Lancers of the Imperial Guard for my Imperial Guard Cavalry Division. Same story here: eight models on four bases and a commander, ready for flexible deployment on the tabletop.

Now it’s time for the infantry. This week I managed to complete four bases of Fusiliers-Grenadiers from the Middle Imperial Guard.

And finally… something a bit different. I wrapped things up by finishing a Warmaster unit: a unit of Terradons for my army.

In summary

3 x 10 mm Mounted figure @ 3 points = 9 points.

17 x 20mm Mounted model @ 8 points = 136 points.

12 x 20mm Infantry model @ 4 points = 48 points.

Total 193 points.

Oh man Rafa, now I do not know which figures to like best they are all sooooo well painted! I have always had a soft spot for the Zvezda French Cavalry and have plenty of both the lancers and Cuirassiers to paint still, but your level of quality is omething different all together. That said I do think those bright oranges you chose for the Terradons really win me over for those as pick of the litter awesome entry indeed!

A serious case of the flu and work kept me from posting last week and pretty much from painting as well. But last weekend saw me put that right. So here are two totally different types of units I would like to show you guys.

First up is a model that has been awaiting painting for nigh on 10 years! It's my all metal Old Skool Dark Angels Dreadnaught. I have started painting it, stripped it and restarted about 4 times over the years and now what with the boy being all into Space Marines I decided that he would have to be done this Challenge. So here he is.

Next up some figures that are really special to me because of several reasons. So what figures are they? Well 7YW Austrians in 20mm or 1:72 scale from HäT. These will be available in HäT's MAC format i.e. Marching, Action and Command sets, here you can see figures of all 3 different boxes combined. This is due to the fact that these are "test-shots" meaning: pre-production test runs of the figures. I am lucky enough to have a long-standing close working relation with the HäT company and sometimes test shots find their way over to me.

Them being testshots makes them special, but they are also special for a reason I am not yet allowed to disclose but it's also the reason they do not have a colour yet since I want to rework a standard Austrian colour for that.  Well enough of the shady talk, I have painted them up as the Infanterie Regiment 30, Sachsen-Gotha. This was a regiment formed of citizens of the Austrian Netherlands which encompassed the region where I now live. As an aside note, my wife and myself got married under the watchful gaze of Empress Maria Theresia herself hanging from the city hall wall. Anyway here are some more pictures.

Now, where does this leave me points-wise? Not sure what amount of points the Dread will be: technically I guess it's a 28mm vehicle so 20 points? But I would understand Lee giving me 15. There are 29 figures in 20mm so that would be 116 points so say 131 points?

Ooo very nice. I love the oldskool Dreadnought, I reckon it was worth the false starts because this time you've hit the bullseye. I'm counting this as a vehicle so you get 20 points for this. The 7YW Austrians are very nice but I think you've cut yourself short on points because you have 28 foot and one mounted figure earning you 120 points, adding up to a solid 140 points for todays entry. Nicely done sir.

FromSanderS: Prussia's Reserves! (226 Points)

Hoi,

As a welcome change to all the 80's Pulp (but don't be afraid, there's still one Pulp post coming up), I have painted up my last 2 battalion regiment of  Prussian reserve infantry. These are 1:72 HäT plastic figures and easy to paint up if incredibly boring. The command bases are mostly made up of HäT re-issues of the old Airfix Landwehr set. The flags were more or less my own interpretation.

There are 56 figures here, so 56 x 4 points would make me 224 points, I am guessing that's as close as I will get to a points-bomb this Challenge.

Morning Sander, good to see you dropping a little points grenade in as we appraoch theb end of this year's Challenge; Napoleonics too, harking back to it's origins. These two battalion of reserves look splendid and steadfast, if not the most interesting to paint. Are they painted as a particular regiment?

From SanderS - Some German Napoleonics (176 points)

Hoi! So after last week's point-bomb I am back to a more sedate painting schedule and have two units of Napoleon's German Allies for you all. All figures are HäT figures apart from two of the guns which are done by Revell.

The first entry are some Württemberg light infantry, in the light blue facings, and foot chasseurs in black facings, of the Mid-Napoleonic period.   

Next up is my battery of Bavarian field artillery. I combined the figures of 4 sprues to get enough crewmen. The guns in the box were a bit on the small and simple side, so I replaced them with the current ones. I like these best of the two by the way!

Now looking back I can state that I like painting Bavarians but am less happy with the Württembergers. I bought them thinking this was a nice way to fill out my French army, without the need to paint more boring blue-coats. Yet I do not feel any attachment to them at all. So this brings me up to 38 foot figures and 3 guns, bringing in some 176 points if I am not mistaken.

Great work Sander.  I despise painting artillery of any sort in any scale, so I am always impressed when someone cranks out some artillery, particularly for Napoleonics. It is always nice to see some 1/72 Napoleonic troops, particularly from nations such as  Württemberger and Bavaria - important states, but ones often playing second fiddle in our collections (and mine is no exception).  

That is indeed another 176 points - well done!
