From TomM: Ruffians (35 pts)

Not every entry in the AHPC is for the Chambers of Challenge, as the objective of this bloggers community event is still to reduce Lead Mountain.

And this is one such entry, not attached to any location, just some nice little pile of figures reduced from the unpainted stack.

The models are Games Workshop ruffians for the Middle-earth setting, and part of my grand plan for 2021 to paint all the needed models for the scenarios in the Scouring of the Shire campaign book.  A good little rulebook that makes fantastic introductory scenarios to real new players into the game, with it's small tables and not to fancy rules laden characters.

Armed with a variety of weapons, these 7 guys are there to bully around some poor hobbits.  The two archers provide some long range support, while the guy with the whip is there to put the p into pain on those he manages to catch.

So that makes a little entry of 7 models removed from the to do pile, and a small step closer to my target for this year with these 35 points!

Wuffians, you say? Wascally wobbers and wepwobates? Stwike them down, centuwion! Tweat them woughly!

Nice work on these Tom. And 35 more points.

From ScottC: Medieval Houses & Gribblies - Larder Chamber submission (158 points)

My adventurers have a brief respite as they come across not one, but TWO medieval fantasy buildings in the Larder Chamber.

Let's see what they can peak at through the windows...

Taking a couple of steps back!

(Zombie for scale)

First up is the two story shop:

I drew heavily from the Prancing Pony for inspiration on these two, and this larger one in particular. I was very unsure of a tudor wood house coloring and wasn't too keen on painting it white. I ended up with a german camo beige / bonewhite combination that I believe fits both historically and fantastically.

Next up is the single story:

These two fantasy medieval buildings can be found at Northern Lights Terrain medieval fantasy line. They were an absolute joy to paint once I stopped fussing about colours. Admittedly my airbrushes have made painting terrain infinitely more approachable. The style of building is very accessible to a variety of game systems and I have no doubt will get a lot of table time.

And now for the gribblies! (Colonal Veronin for scale)

About half of these gribblies are from the recent mantic terrain crate 2 kickstarter, and the wine cases/cubbies and larger table are 3d printed. The rats are reaper miniatures 28mm in scale.

As for points... here is my educated guess:

Single story: 5" x 5" = 20 points

Two-Story: 6" x 6" x 9"tall = ~40 points?

Gribblies: pointed as per ~ 28mm figure: 40 ponts

Wine + Potion cabinets: pointed as per ~40mm figures: 28 points

Rats: 10 points

Chamber of Challenge submission: 20 points

Total: ~ 158

From MattK: 3d Printed Forest (60 Points)

For my next entry, I decided to submit the terrain I just finished. These files are from Printable Scenery and I have a full write up on the process coming to my blog in the next few days over at Gaming With Mitten

Over all the project is 10 trees averaging just under 6 inches, 6 fallen trees, and 4 stumps. There are 5 unique designs and the fallen stuff in the pack and each tree takes an average of 9 hours to print. Which when all typed out seems ridiculous. I'm still coming to terms with how slow the process can be sometimes.

I've arranged the trees into more or less 6 inch cubes and I'd say the total contents roughly fills 3 of them netting me 60 points.

After seeing them all painted, I rolled out a 3x3 mat to see how much of the table they take up and my original plan was to make another ten or so but I don't think I'll need quite that many. I guess the beauty of the 3d printer is if I want another, I can just hit print.

From Dallas: Ral Partha Cold Drake in the Hatchery! (30? Points)

Now on to Level 2 of the Dungeon... and the Hatchery! I figure this Ral Partha Cold Drake is a lock for the Hatchery, as it's a dragon (which hatch from eggs) crossed with a bird (ditto)!

This model was sculpted by the great Tom Meier for Ral Partha back in the late '70s/early '80s (I think the copyright date on the base was '79?) and boy, it's a stunner. Amazingly, I'm the original owner of this model, having purchased it myself, likely at the Hobby Hunter shop on 10th Street in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. It's sat in my lead box ever since, only being painted nearly 40 years later!

The strange part about this particular example is the wings... if you search the web for images of the RP Cold Drake you'll invariably see the model with normal webbed dragon wings... but I'm certain that this example came with the feathered wings that are on it now. Packing mistake at the Partha-werke? Who knows but these wings fit well enough and that's how I assembled it lo those many years ago.

It's not a huge dragon, but big enough to count 10 points I reckon... here it is pictured with a recently painted Foundry fantasy fighter from the Casting Room.

I really like the way these two models interact - hard to fathom that they were probably sculpted 35 years apart.

Lastly, here's the updated map... coming for you, Mike F! Next up, the Armoury... or maybe a figure for Sarah...?

Cheers!

From DaveD - Normandy buildings - 20 points

Next job off the workbench are 6 buildings to add to the Normandy town collection . It’s growing nicely with the aim of getting one that about 6x6 .

These are all by Stephan at Tiger Terrain. Again I took the opportunity to pick up some bombed out pieces. For that classic Normandy look .

All together , around 20 points I reckon

Progress on the town building so far . More to do on gardens , a cemetery a railway station etc .

from RayR - The Chamber of Challenge - Golam's Haunt

Another step closer to the Alter of the SnowLord....
The Golem’s Haunt:

“..IT WALKS…!!” Paint something re-animated, stitched-together, bolted-together, re-created from steel, clay, earth, etc.

Well If anythings made out of nuts n bolts its CP3O?
This is my first venture into the land of Star Wars and may not be the last???
I bought an unpainted selection of Star Wars figures from a friend Tony over the summer, just
incase I fancied doing something different.

C3PO Is a 54mm Hasbro Star Wars Command figure and like I said I do have more to paint, can I fit anymore into the Challenge??????
The Golden one should earn me 10 points as a 54mm figure and another 20 for the Bonus round!

From MartinC The Pride of the Ottoman Army and a Trench (213pts)

Evening all, hope you are all well. I been cracking on with my Turks, I need to as I keep buying some more of them.

A 10 man infantry section

Another one

Couple of Machine guns

Command stand with an Iman blessing the standard, nice figures

Finally another 9 man infantry section. THe officer is a cavalry officer (he has spurs). i know what you are thinking - I miscounted. Well you would be wrong. i squeezed out too much paint and had to apint extras. So there.

Finally a length of trench. The reason I'm doing a Caucasian campaign is the lack of trenches, the things that make WW1 rubbish to play. However you must have some so I built this test piece using foam and sand the lollipop supports

Overall I'm pleased with the outcome and some make a few more sections, although not to many.

Scores on the doors
39 x 28mm infantry  = 190
2 crew served weapons = 20
1 standard = 1
1x 12cubic inch trench = 2pts (rounding up)
