From PeteB - Paulus Miniatures - The little lady and the cat - 10 Points

This is my last contribution for this years challenge. And as I wanted to paint at least one other female figure, after my Bonnie I decided to paint this nice little girl from Paulus Miniatures with her cat "Gaston"! The girl is a 3D printed figure and 54 mm high. On this little vignette will be added some more figures but not this challenge. I don't get them ready. But I hope you like this little lady that is dreaming and watching her cat.

The piece of scenery (7 x 4,5 cm) comes with the lady. The cat is part of a medieval soldier running around his legs. I choose the name of the cat "Gaston" because our first cat was a white one. He's been always in our minds and harts, and now he is visual in this little figure. The base (10 x 6 cm) is a print from miniatuurwereld.com.
I used a lot of grey and some earth colours for the base and the wall, and the window shutters in blue to get some more color on the vignette.

The not painted figures;

Base and scenery.

Thanks for watching!

Points: 1 x 54 mm Foot figure = 10 Points.

I really like this vignette, Pete! How very whimsical and introspective. I like that you drew upon your family and your past pet for inspiration on this. I also appreciate how you did the stonework by introducing browns and tans and the shutters in blue to give the piece more warmth and colour. Really lovely work and I'm going to give a few bonus points for the terrain. I hope next year you can show us the completed piece. Well done!

From BillA: A Face Only A Mother Could Love (10 pts)

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting to get another post in this week. I wasn't expecting to finish another figure in time! So rather than delay it a week, I figured I better get it in.

This is the "Babyface Abomination" from the board game "Zombicide: Invader." I don't know a whole lot about it - I know Zombicide is a cooperative game with players taking the role of zombie apocalypse survivors fending off endless hordes of zombies, and Invader replaces the zombies with aliens of varying types and abilities. There's a variety of these Abominations, and I guess some of them were exclusives you could only get through backing the Kickstarter for the game. I bought five different Abominations secondhand from a guy on social media that had spares for use with the game Majestic 13 (see my previous post for more on the game). I'm trying to get in a minimum of two games a month, solo or otherwise, and in determining what my next game of Majestic 13 will be, I realized I needed to paint an appropriate monster for it!

I kept things pretty simple with this one; I primed white, and did some pre-shading around the larger folds of flesh with GW Druchii Violet. Once that was dry, I went over everything with "Guilliman Flesh" contrast paint. Once that was dry, I started drybrushing with Reaper "Tanned Skin" to smooth out any blotchiness. The guts, mouth and tendrils emerging from the hands were cleaned up with white, then washed with Druchii Violet and gone over with GW Baal Red contrast.

Spiky bits and the armored shell on the head got two coats of Reaper "Midnight Blue" before drybrushing with "Twilight Blue." A little more Druchii Violet around the mouths and in the deepest folds of fat, and all that was left was picking out the teeth and nails. I think it turned out pretty good and gnarly.

And here's a shot of him with the 3-Card Monte Guy for scale; I'd say he qualifies as a 54mm figure.

"Sorry pal, them's the breaks. Play again?"

So that'll be another 10 points, and no new Squirrels.

==============================

Sylvain: You monster is disgusting, but in a well painted way. I could almost hear and smell any gaseous emanations coming from the multiple orifices of this... thing. It has been an honor to be your minion; "à la prochaine".

From PeteB - Jean Hoefler Cowboys - 30 Points

I was painting one of these figures for my confederate soldiers collection when a friend from Germany mentioned this figure as his favorite Jean Hoefler figure, and he called him "Fuzzy". Not knowing who was "Fuzzy" I started painting the same figure as a gift for him. So that is why you see two identical figures. The one with the sand color base is a gift for him.

Pity of his damaged nose.

But that isn't the end of the story. I was to curious so I wanted to know, who is "Fuzzy". So i asked him and he sended me this picture. Ladies and gentlemen, meet "Fuzzy". Never heard or seen this guy but I like this funny guy already!

So with this mystery solved, and as this is a painting challenge, I wanted to paint another one just like on the picture and now you can see the final result here. This one will also go to my friend in germany as a mystery gift.

Thanks for watching!

From GavinB: A Strange Assortment of Figures (15 points)

Recently I have been playing the outstanding VR (virtual reality) survival game: Into the Radius (ITR) on the PSVR2. In ITR you are an explorer of the Pechorsk Radius exclusion zone, you have to manage your equipment, clean your guns and scavenge for food to survive. Additionally, there are many different hostile creatures in the Pechorsk Radius, so you want to try and stay quiet and conserve your ammo. Into the Radius is inspired by the book Roadside Picnic, and the actual stalkers that venture into the Chernobyl exclusion zone. ITR is so immersive and realistic, you have to manually load each bullet into the magazine and into the gun, etc. that you could easily lose hours into playing it. With how passionate I have become about this game, I thought is was only right to make a miniature for it. So I used the promotional art for the game as a reference for the figure to see what the main character looked like for a 3rd person view

The Miniature was made from an old apocalyptic figure I had lying around then I made the backpack and necessary adjustments with green stuff.

I painted him up using a lot of muted colours to match the feel of the world, and slapped him on a base I feel like I did a pretty good job for a 6:30 am paint job!

Next on the agenda to paint was a fellow from the Dark Souls Franchise, the Boreal Outrider Knight. With all of the plate amour on him I felt that this was the perfect opportunity to practice my NMM. Additionally he carries an ice sword so I had to do some lighting effects as well, and I was really happy with the result. His base was then made out of blank playing cards that were cut into tiles with a marble texture painted on, then smeared with dirt and mud. Measuring him up he is a little over 54mm.

I'm still facing an unfortunate loss of painting mojo, so sorry about the random selection of miniatures for this post. I'm mustering up the courage to hop back into my Wars of the Roses project.

Happy Painting!

POINTS:
1 28mm figure: 5
1 54mm figure 10

POINTS TOTAL:
15

Your post-apocalyptic survivor looks great Gavin, I love the greenstuff work on him and the paintjob makes him look suitably prepared for anything that come his way in the Radius. I'm not familiar with Dark Souls but your model looks very cool, the last pic shows the work on his icy sword and the OSL very well, good work! And I am hopeful your mojo makes a reappearance as I'm looking forward to seeing your WOTR project!

Fifteen added to your tally!

From PeteB - Archers - 44 Points

In this post three small projects that come together.

1. Reamsa - Medieval Archer - 54 mm

This figure came with his head of the body, so I first had to repair that before painting. As Reamsa is a Spanish company I gave him a little touch with red and yellow, colors of the Spanish flag.

2. Britains - Medieval Archer - 54 mm

Like the previous figure of Reamsa, this Britains figure came also in a bad condition. Don't know who gave this figure a base coat, but it took away almost all the details. So it needed some cleaning before painting. This one is painted, it's a Britain, with blue, red and some white, the colors that are also in the British flag.

3. Giant - Indians on horse - 20 mm

These figures missed the cut for the "Toy Story" theme round. That's why I post them here. As said these are 56 years old and for their age they painted really nice. And there is one archer, so it fits the top title! 😊

Unpainted Giant Figures

A grand entry today Peter! You have really revived these old toys excellently. I must say the Archer most, very good.
