From Curt: 'Toot! Toot! Parp! Parp!' 10mm Steam Tanks (20 Points)

Hey There!

Thank you Tamsin, for letting me once again shoulder-in with your Tuesday Terrors. As we all know, I may be the Idea Guy, but it's Tamsin who's instrumental in keeping this mad menagerie rattling along in the right direction. Thank you Tamsin for all your help this year - it's always wonderful having your at the helm to shepherd our Tuesday entries.

__________________________________________

Another day, another unit of wee Empire guys to add to my slowly growing army. Today's reinforcement is a trio of Steam Tanks, fresh from the artificers and foundries of Nuln.

I have a soft spot for the Steam Tank as one of these was the centerpiece of my Warhammer Empire army for many a year. Granted, it usually blew up spectacularly, but it was always entertaining to have puttering around on the tabletop.

While there are some lovely 3d prints for the Empire Steam tank, I still love the heft (however slight) of the white metal originals, so I ran with a handful of them instead.

I quite like that the base size for To the Strongest allows me to place three of these beasties chugging away. I figure a trio of them are a bit more imposing than just a single vehicle, especially with these massed units on the tabletop.

And here are the steamtanks arrayed with the rest of the existing Empire contingent.

For points, these three infernal machines should give me a base of 18 points, with say another point for the three crewmen gesticulating madly from their hatches.

Thanks again Tamsin, and I hope all have a great day.

- Curt

Awww, shucks! It's always* a pleasure to help out with this li'l ole Challenge, and always** a treat to minion your eclectic, often bizarre entries.

I do love these little steam tanks - very colourful. I'm going to give you two points for the crewmen, just to round this up to 20 points.

* well...almost always!

** definitely always

From MattW: Yellow Brick road, 80s studio, super hero’s, lady Sarah Limousine , books (165 points)

 Final Studios wip round!

Leaving the casting couch I travel on the yellow brick road to 80s studio, then super heroes, finally  then my last lady Sarah limousine ride to books and then I have completed all of the inner blue studios. Now off to see the director for the final blockbuster!

Yellow brick road

To travel on the yellow brick road I offer the camera team van of the Pathè Journal! A 20mm Diecast repaint, I hand painted the sign writing  and had an attempt at the Pathè Journal rooster ! This will join my 20mm ww2 collection.

80s Studio

The next offering is my 1980s studio, a diecast Ford Capri. The first project car I worked on in 1987 was with one of my lifelong friends Rob Gow. His Capri was his dream car and together we sanded back, sprayed, pulled down the motor and rebuilt it from the ground up to show condition over two years. Rob was rewarded with a number of trophies around Sydney for the car including being featured in issue 1 of Ford Power in Australia, then later we installed a big block engine to produce 720 brake horsepower for sprint racing, the car again was featured in Street Machine, finally the car became a racing car and sadly was bent up completely and wrecked on a bend at the racing track in Goulburn. Sadly Rob passed in February this year from Cancer and this is my tribute to him, certainly a feature of my 80s.

Super Hero’s

A term that is bandied about a lot is Super Hero, for me as an Aussie are the young Australian men who landed at Gallipoli and then went on to fight in the Palestinian campaign, France and Russia are my heroes. Here I offer up to you a 75mm miniature of an WW1 Australian gunner.

Lady Sarah Limousine

Next up is a short ride from Super Hero studio to the book studio if I may. I offer a French Revolution peasant ready to run someone through! The miniature is from the Foundry French Revolution range.

Book Studio

One of my biggest influences when growing up was books, as we had no TV reception in the mountains of NSW until I was ten, and then no colour TV in our house until I was 15. Books are a big influence on me still today and I have a library full of them. One of my favourite book series was Biggles…. So I offer up a 1/72 Revell Sopwith triplane, as I have already completed my camels some years ago!

Off to see the director for my final entry

Well, I can't fault your maths on this one. Excellent miniatures and vehicles!

From MattW: medieval bits! (49 points)

 Medieval bits

First up a few buildings from Tabletop World plastic 28mm range to add to my medieval building collection.

I spackle finish (pre mixed plaster) the gaps between the collombage. I mask the collombage (paint on mask all) then add the plaster, let set a little, go back and then dapple with a tooth brush to give it texture and to hide the tabs that they come with. I then undercoat and paint with artist acrylics , then add washes etc. I have also done some interior work as I can then use them for skirmish gaming. When I complete my castle build later this year they will be put on village bases that slot onto the castle board for instant city scape.

Farm manor and outbuildings

Terrain x 3 pieces  14 points
Main building 4 inches x 4 x 5.5 inches
Stable 3 x 4 x 4
Outbuilding 3 x 4 x 4

Then a siege engine, a mix of foundry and mirliton miniatures (foundry crew). This has been sitting around since my last medieval entry as I wanted to add a counterweight for the stone and have my crew reloading it or pulling it as the lever is not really correct to my engineering mind, I eventually just gave up and made the counterweight and added cordage.

28mm Siege artillery and and two crew 20 points

Finally a mounted and dismounted personality, closer to renaissance than medieval really from the Perry WOTR range.

Nice work for your second post of the day, Matt.

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but your points claims are off somewhat. The buildings come out as 150 cubic inches, which is 0.7 terrain cubes, so 14 points. And the siege engine is a crew served weapon, so that's 10 points rather than 15.

From DaveD - last of the Derr-Flingers - Necromunda (25 pts)

Hey it’s yet more green guys . Here are some additions to my Necromunda Van Saar gang, the “Derr-Flingers” . I picked up a few of the ridiculously expensive Forgeworld resin pieces to finish off the gang. .A  leader, champions and dodgy looking spider thing Arachnids with sharp bits . I have continued them in my trademark green theme . Lizard Green Vallejo Xpress paint with a smidgen of highlights has seen them knocked out this week .

For the price I think there is some serious pi@@ taking going on . I don’t think the resin was that well cast either . GW get very little of my hubby money so hey ho -it is what it is

So here is the full gang

Overall I am very pleased with the end result.

JamesM and I are meeting up tomorrow to give these lads and one of his other new gangs a run out . What could possibly go wrong - will anyone hit anything I ask . Anyway it has to be done to get it out of the way. MartinC set a very low (or is it high?) bar of how badly a new gang could do last time we fought . I am looking forward to getting a game in as temporarily rejoining the world of work is a pain.

So 5 x 28mm = 25 points . I may be in touching distance of doubling my target by challenge end - we shall see . I have also posted something every week which is a little challenge Martin and I set each other .

Good luck with your game tomorrow - always a risk using newly painted figures!

From Kerry T - Fight Club - 18th century style - but you all know I can't talk about it don't you (105 points & 1 Squirrel)

 Morning, afternoon & evening all

One of the more popular or perhaps controversial films of the past 25 years was "Fight Club"starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter. I was surprised to find it was filmed as long ago as 1999.

Now we all know that the first rule of Fight Club is that you do not talk about Fight Club. That is of course why you lot don't know that fight Club was around in the 18th Century.....

Ullo, ullo, wot's going on 'ere then?

Of course the second rule of Fight Club is that you don't talk about Fight Club, so I'll have to keep quiet but some pictures might just do the talking

Looks like everyone's here

All the bigwigs are here

Along with the Doxies, mind that HBC has let herself go a bit

Here's the town's Burgher- looks like he's ate a few of them too, and some pies as well

Welcome to Fight Club

Quick get the Doc, there's a man down.....

Alas poor Yorick I knew him well...

Worst case of lead poisoning I've ever seen miss, what say you Bert?

Seconds in attendance

Seconds out...

This is a Magnum 44 Smoothbore Flintlock Pistol, the most powerful handgun in the world...

You've got to ask yourself one question. Do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

Meanwhile.....

Would you let them spit on Napoleon Bonaparte?'....
Bonaparte? I fail to see what Bonaparte has to do with this..
You've insulted me....
I have strained my patience in order not to insult you..
I demand an apology...

More modern version....
Dilbert realised he was in trouble and wished he'd paid more attention in duelling class when in a quick and dirty move, his opponent cunningly super-glued his hand to his forehead

That's all folks.....

I got these figures around 10 years ago as a freebie when I joined the Old Glory Army Membership offer. They aren't the greatest of figures but are full of character and were fun to paint for a change. They are from the Duelist set and there are 18 of them though the town Burgher is missing from the group shot as I'd left him out. The sharp eyed of you will spot Molly Miggins who appeared in my last post and stuck out a leg to attract Lady Sarah's Limousine driver so I could get a lift so I've left her out of my points total

So in summary
17 figures @5 points = 85 points
Lady Sarah's Limousine (courtesy of the other 2 ladies) @ 20 points for a total of 105
1 Squirrel
I can't shoehorn this into a studio

Now to date I have 5 Green Studio and 4 Blue studio visits, does that mean I can try and sit in the directors' chair or have I misread the rules? Its a bit late though I suppose

I hope to manage one more entry  before the close of the Challenge.  Many thanks to you all for your positive vibes but particularly to Tamsin for her patience as my Tuesday Minion.

"Soap, sir? Soap, sir? Forsooth, sir, what is this soap you prate on about us making?"

A great set of figures, Kerry. It's been a pleasure having you as one of my Tuesday Terrors. Yes, you can apply for the Director's Chair - just email Curt to agree something you can produce before the end.
