From Curt: Sarah Bella & Felix Out for a Ride (35 Points)

I'm in need of a teleport to the 'Knight' Solar' so, as payment for my passage, here is the fearless adventurix Sarah Bella with her loyal K9 companion, Felix.

Who can tell what mischief they are about to get into, but rest assured that they can get out of it just as fast with their sporty motorcycle and sidecar.

This set is from Bob Murch's recent 'Dangerous Dames' kickstarter. Great additions to his brilliant Pulp Figures range. Such a wonderfully characterful model - a real delight to work on.

For points, let's put Sarah and the motorcycle at 10, Felix and his sidecar at 5 and 20 for the teleport. A tidy 35 points to add to the tally.

I have a feeling this is not the last we'll see of Sarah Bella and Felix, so stay tuned!

AlanD - Interwar Transport (25 points)

I've had this nice Daimler truck from 1st Corps lying around in bits for a couple of years, so took a break from painting Dacians to get it ready for some tabletop mayhem.

I have a hankering to play some games based around the Russo-Polish War of 1920, the Russian Civil War and the German Revolution, so this truck is likely to have multiple owners.

As a result, as much as I want to paint slogans on it, I made a flagstaff and Polish and Communist flags from foil from a bourgeois wine bottle that can be swapped around. I also plan to add an Imperial German flag so the Freikorps can use the truck as well.

I had fun making this, and it will look pretty imposing on the table. I believe 20 points for the truck and 5 for the driver are in order.

For Pete: The Altar of the Snowlord

Pete, I understand you have a new kickstarter game to paint up so I challenge you to get a half dozen of those done-up for us.  Once completed, you will have met the challenge and will receive your prize.

From: AngusW - 28mm 'Chickens' - The Hatchery - 30pts

Transported by 'Sarah the Sorceress' from the 'Hall of Traps', I find myself in the hatchery. It's said you can't have to much scatter terrain, well here we have some chickens!

Not much to say about them really. As I've been wanting to play more Chain of Command with the 8th Army in the desert, I thought these might make an interesting bit of ephemera to scatter on the board to liven it up.

These came from the same £5 sprue of animals as my earlier cows and sheep, I picked it up from ebay, I assume it was from Warlord.

x2 Chicken bases @ 5pts each (10pts) + The Hatchery (20pts)

From TeemuL: Who is your father, the Gallery of Ancestors (40 points)

"The Gallery of Ancestors" reads Shellington from the sign. "At last, something which makes sense in this part of the university", he thought relieved. But what was that noise, low grunting and shouting, cling of metal and some stomping. "Some youngsters who don't know how to behave", thought Uggla on took a tighter grip of his bottle. "I'm not a beardling!" "We have never heard of Gloin, young one." "You are imposters, the dwarf lords with rings died ages ago!" "Do you think this Mithril axe is false, do you?!?" T.S. Owl-Ord easily bypassed this group of apparent relatives, who seemed to be even more lost than him. And they were those short ones as well, the same as the 3 in the previous room. Hopefully this was last of them, he hoped quietly while continuing his walk.

The Gallery of Ancestors, I present you Gimli, son of Gloin, and three ancient Dwarf Lords, at least one of them most likely an ancestor of him. These are 3 of 4 different Dwarf King sculpts who were given the rings of power in the past.

I continued with bright Contrast colors, making some generic heroes for my very small MESBG Dwarf army. I painted the hair/beard and cloak in different colors for them, making it easier to recognize them on the table.

They were nice to paint, enough details and small enough for quick finish. I have the fourth one coming, but I made an error earlier, when I split the order of our group made and I had one of kings as duplicate. The process to get him back is in progress, remembering the covid-19 instructions, of course.

The kings are of course the older people here, some bizarre event has dropped Gimli in front of them. This is a metal sculpt with Elven Cloak, but I haven't had time to find out from which box he is coming from. He was part of a second hand box I bought some time ago.

Gimli is not as bright colored as the kings, but painted with Contrasts. I just wanted him to have basically the same colors as other miniatures I have. The bright green cloak means Elven Cloak on my gaming table.

That should be 4 28mm miniatures, 20 points (also for GW side duel).

Then 20 points from the room, making it total of 40 (no skulls).

Is this the last Shellington sees of dwarfs when he continues towards The Guardroom...?

From JasperO: Svetlana and her T-70 for Sarah the Sorceress (43 points)

The same damn thing happens every year. I make all these plans for the Challenge and then time zips by and with a month or so to go, I look at the pile, and... Okay, in part it's because I'm not always as diligent as I could be, and often it's because I'm skipping around projects because that's where my fancies take me. The route through the Chambers of Challenge is more strict this year, however, and looking at the time still available and what I'd really like to complete for this Challenge, I've got to skip a few steps. So sad, too bad for those plans, but it's time to call on Sarah the Sorceress for an airlift to the Larder.

To do so, I offer up one of Bad Squiddo's ww2 female tank commanders - a very nice set of figures - in her personal ride. I'm afraid it's a little worse for wear, but then, it's been to the wars. I bought a set of painted 28mm Russian figures from a friend last year as that would get me a more or less complete Russian platoon for Chain of Command in one go, so now I'm working on some supports and the missing bits. This little T-70 makes for a nice recce option and is quite a change from my previous, the King Tiger. At least it should be able to run rings around it!

The tank is a Warlord Games resin offering, a nice little model. The (large!) commander's hatch is a metal casting, but comes without hinges to actually keep it open. I worried that just glueing the side of the hatch to the resin would be asking for trouble, so I made two rudimentary hinges from brass wire. They're drilled into the hull top and glued to the side of the hatch. With Svetlana supporting the hatch from behind, I figure it has a decent chance of surviving gameplay.

I followed my by-now usual routine of airbrushing successively lighter colours, followed by some general mucking around with some washes, and pigments from MIG and AK Productions. As for points, Svetlana is a bit more 'complete' than the commander of the KT, so her plus the Sorceress bonus and one 28mm vehicle should net me another 43.

From LeeH - Kights Solar - Paladin with Elemental Sword

At last, I have reached the Third Level of the Chambers of Challenge. It's taken a while to reach it, but every stage has been interesting and fun so I'm not complaining. Now we get to the most challenging rooms and I'm starting off with my entry for the Kights Solar. The brief says "A chamber for painting Kights of all kinds, and their knightly deeds, loves, pastimes and quests". Hmm, the ultimate expression of Kightly piety in the fantasy world is the Paladin and I had the perfect model for that.

This warrior ventured into the frozen city of Felstad in search of a fabled elemental sword. He has been searching for it in lost scrolls and ancient texts for many years and now he has found it. His Quest is over...but first he must make it out of the city alive.

This is a 28mm Ral Partha Figure from their Pathfinder range and looks particularly heroic. The casting is wonderfully clean and the face was so well sculpted it was a joy to paint. Once again I have based it for use in my Frostgrave games (really must venture back there soon).

(Scoring - 1x28mm Figure + CoC Bonus = 25 Points)

From BruceR Hall of Heros (30 pts)

After beaching the Tug, the party moves into the Hall of Heroes and is greeted by another contingent of the Movember Crew.  Only a hero can sport such "Marvelous Mustaches" and thus the heroes of the chamber. The two guide the party through the hall and beyond leaving us with some thoughtful words as we continue our investigation of the Chambers.

Pasha Moustasha Ali-Pasha

"What you need to remember Gentlemen, is that monkeys can be troublesome for the expedition cook, but apes are a distinct hazard for the radio operator under all circumstances."

The figure are great fun to paint and I'll use them in any number of adventure style scenarios.
With that I've cleaned up a batch of Pulp Figure British Army Tropical Rifles to supplement the sailors back at the Tug. Hope to get to them, which could be difficult as we went above freezing (here in the south of the Great White North) for the first time in 28 days.  Painting could be "challenged".

Stay well.
2 28mm 10 points + Chamber 20 pts = 30 pts total.
