From BruceR: ACW Command, Anglo Zulu Troops (115 points)

Greetings all and another relatively small submission this week.  Running my FIW scenario with the gang for ACon to make sure the sides are close took up some weekend time and extended family time trumped painting.

Here are the 115th Pennsylvania Volunteers and the 5th New Jersey Volunteers command stands.  As we are using three stands to a regiment, I had painted 5 stands from my initial two sprues gifted by my gamer friend.  I had taken the plunge with a boxed set and upon arrival decided I could sit down and crank out two command stands and now have four regiments ready for battle.  I keep taking different routes with these and used a lighter blue on the pants, a contrast which needs two coats, but still faster than the standard acrylic paint method.  Added some red to the drums to brighten the front rank, add the flags and done.  Hope you like them.

I've added the previously painted stands showing the full regiment.

Next, I've headed back to my Anglo Zulu war project.  These are my British and I've added green as facings for the 24th foot at Rorke's Drift.  Why not right?  In  doing some background reading the regiment was initially from Warwickshire County.  In 1873 the garrison was moved to Brecon in South Wales.  In 1881 renamed the South Wales Borderers.  Fun little trivia to discover.

These as well are 15mm and I started with contrasts.  I believe they are Blue Moon Manufacturing. The models were not overly crisp.  The faces are not well defined, likely older molds.  After contrast I did wash, and highlight, so not sure I saved any time with these figures.  In the end they turned out fine and will allow us to give The Men Who Would Be Kings a run out with my Zulus painted earlier in the challenge.  I do have a few other British and some mounted forces.  Not sure I'll get to them this challenge.

The officer and sergeant are trying to point out targets for troopers.

Points:
ACW 15mm @2 pts 40 figures           = 80 pts
Anglo Zulu War 15mm @2 15 figs    = 30 pts
Total                                                    = 110 pts

Have a great week and weekend.  See you next Thursday.
Climate note, we hit 60 degrees (F) Monday (record) snow storm Tuesday, -9 this morning.  Feel like a yo-yo.

Cheers, stay well.
Bruce

TeemuL: Good looking last minute addition to the ACW force, Bruce. How very different those 15mm minis look when based single compared to based on ranked. Nicely painted minis all together, your different routes look equally good, but it is always refreshing to try out different methods. I'll give you 5 bonus points for the flags and good looking bases, making the total 115 (just like the 115th Pennsylvania Volunteers!).

BrianC: I missed 2 weeks! Life Happens. Greeks, Zombicide, Reaper Miniatures (240 points)

Oh boy! It's been a couple of weeks since my last submission. A lot of work and life in general happened. Anyways! Here we go! I have some Zombicide, More Greeks, yes more! Ha! A Reaper Miniature, scatter terrain, 15mm terrain, and some 15mm Werewolves!

Warlord Games Greeks (28mm) (21)

More Greeks are on the way!

15mm Werewolves from Blue Moon Miniatures (15)

They're well-detailed, too.

Now some more Zombicide minis!

Women of the night and runners (6)

Zombicide Toxic City Zombie Walkers & Runners

You came at me like a Wrecking Ball! Zombicide 2nd Edition "Billie" aka Miley Cyrus.

This will be for the "Famous Person" category.

Another Zombicide Survivor, Kyoko aka Lucy Liu

This Zombicide Survivor, Louise, is from The Rue Morgue core box.

Next is Zombicide 2nd Edition Supernatural TV Series Vampire

For my Children's book topic (Paul Bunyan), I will use Reaper Miniature Lumberjack.

Here are 2 Zombicide runners from The Undead or Alive Core Set.

Next are more 3D printed terrain and scatter terrain. I uses the "cube" method for scoring.

15mm Sci-Fi desert buildings and 28mm log piles.

There you have it! That's all I have done for now.

SCORING:

34-28mm x 5pts = 170pts
15-15mm x 2pts = 30pts
Terrain = 20pts
Children's Books Topic = 20pts
Famous Person topic = 20pts

TOTAL = 240PTS.
***
So...like...I have questions...did Paul Bunyan survive the Zombie Apolcalypse? Did they hide out in a lumber yard, and overcome some werewolves and a...vampire...did the Greek infantry form a phalanx and keep the zombies at bay? A lot going on here...

For scoring, I detected one bonus, but not a second...I'm pleased to count Paul B as a "Famous Person" - it is not clear to me from this post how it (or the other elements) would count as a "Children's Book". So with that correction we have 240 points - well done.

From BrianC - A little of this and that. My rookie debut! [History, Fantasy, & Library Cart] (111pts)

Hello all. This is my first time in this challenge! I'm very excited to be involved! Thank you, AndrewB for letting me know about this challenge! Now, I hope I post this right. Ha! My first entry is a little of the historical minis and some fantasy minis. I have primed a few minis in advance to prepare for this.

Ok. Let's begin with a photo of what I will enter for my 1st post:

I have painted 8 Warlord Games Saxon Archers.

I'm in love with the Army Painter Speedpaints! But, there will be some use of the regular AP colors, too.

One thing that bugged me about the Warlord Games minis is their long necks! I shaved the necks on some of them. All my bases will be done with Geek's Gaming Scenics. I love that stuff!

Say hello to Hans! This is the beginning of painting some Bolt Action Blitzkrieg German Infantry.

No Speedpaint here.

Hans's friends will catch up to him later in this challenge.

Here we have 3 15mm Vampires from Blue Moon Miniatures. I normally don't paint 15mm minis. But, I really enjoyed how fast and fun it is to paint 15's! There will be more in the future!

I'm hoping I will improve on the speedpaints.

They will have more friends during this challenge. Muhaha! Muhaha!

Say hello to my little library helper, Sarah! She was in a rush to put her make-up on, cause of the zombie rush inside the building(Zombicide mini). Ha Ha!

I heard she is ruthless with the pump action shotgun!

Peach will never leave without her lucky pom poms!

Well, that completes my first entry! I will admit I am nervous uploading my minis on here! The skillful painters on here are AMAZING!!!! Again, I'm very excited about this challenge!

I WISH YOU ALL A SAFE HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
LET'S DO THIS!!!!

SCORING:

9x28mm minis = 45pts.
3x15mm minis = 6pts.
History Topic = 20pts.
Fantasy Topic = 20pts.
Library Cart = 20pts.

Total = 111pts.

First, welcome to the Challenge, Brian. We're delighted to have you with us.

Great work here! Those Saxon archers look the business all in 'mid-loose'. While a bit dark from the photo, the late war German infantryman is a great start to your planned project. The stars for me are the 15mm vampires. So characterful! I especially like the vampress in blue. Finally the shotgun sporting cheerleader is a daunting lass - love the pom poms at-the-ready!

Well done Brian! I look forward to you beavering through that tableful of minis! Best wishes for the New Year!
