From ChristopherS - SYW Russians 28mm (160 points)

In my cabinet I have one lonely regiment of Russians for my long stalled Seven Years project and decided they needed some desperate reinforcements and so decided to paint up a couple regiments to  bolster their ranks in the form of  Permskiy(White/Green flag) and Rostovski(White/Yellow flag).

The regiments are uniformed in the standard Russian colors of green coat, red waistcoat, pants, cuffs and turnbacks . They typically wore black gaiters, but I prefer the white parade gaiter.

The figures themselves are from Front Rank and the superb flags are GMB designs with the very top edging painted by myself with prevents a white line from showing. It adds a little time, but I do it with all my commercial flags as I feel it's worth it. These guys took longer then I thought as I rather foolishly figured I only needed a week or so to finish them because of the uniformity......yeah right........they took darn near 3 weeks!! Forgot about all the little details SYW figures include like a ton of buttons, straps and flaps etc. Now I understand why my SYW project got stalled in the first place! I will of course return to my SYW project, but I do need a break again from the period just hopefully not as long as the last one.

Let me see with 32 28mm figures this should give me 160points and put in front of my rival Nick unless he passes me up on Saturday. The great thing is these points allow me to hit a personal best of over 500points in the challenge! A huge milestone for me as it's the first time in all the challenges I've achieved my initial points goal. Last year was my worst points total and this year is already my best:-) So, back to some ancients and perhaps a few more points before the challenge closes.
Oh my goodness Christopher, what a wonderful horse & musket treat!  We have all been enjoying your incredible brushwork in different periods and it is just wonderful to see your skills brought to bear on the pageantry of the Seven Years War. I am a huge fan of the wonderful, heavy and beautiful castings from Front Rank, and your skills have brought out the best in these castings. I love the greens, the whites on the gaiters, everything - these are beauties! Well done!

That is indeed a big blast of 160 points for your total.  Congratulations on hitting a personal best. That is the whole point of this Challenge, to get all of us moving toward to new feats of painting productivity.  Great work!

  3. Very nice Russians mate :)

Although seeing these makes me feel a bit guilty about not having painted any of my 15mm guys this year.

  8. Those are very sharp! They do look mighty fine with the white gaiters, and you can always do future regiments in the more staid black...;)
