Tuesday TomL, Limbo and more Union ACW troops - 190 points

This weeks entry starts me off in Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ with the first circle of the Abyss - Limbo.  Introducing these lost figures is our guide from the Gangland Gals set from Pulp Figures. Painted using the reaper brown triad & black glaze, Foundry skin tones, contrast paint base colours with some Foundry highlights.

These figures (ARC Astronauts & Armed ARC Astronauts) from Crooked dice were from picked up in 2020 and cleaned and prepped for painting for a pulp project I started in late 2023.  That project was totally derailed by my enthusiastic wandering through the AHPC-IV library in 2024.  Only fitting we pull these back from the shelves and put some paint on them for the Limbo entry. Painted using contrast paints for the uniform with TTC and Vallejo paints for other areas. You might have a feeling of Deja vu as you look at the last picture as I bought two of the same set of astronauts in the same purchase. Ah well...

Continuing on with my ACW project, here is another ACW Union infantry regiment - The 115 Indiana Regiment.

Originally I was planning on painting 6 Union Regiments of infantry then start in on the CSA.  I’m rethinking that and will begin preparing the next two regiments as CSA regiments.  Here are the three Union regiments I have completed so far (the 20th Maine was painted before the AHPC).

Limbo entry - 20
10 28mm figures @ 5 pts each  - 50
60 epic figures @ 2 points each - 120

Points for this week:    190

Quite the menagerie Tom - I love the diversity on your painting table!
Looking forward to seeing what next week throws up from you :-)

TomL : Warlord Epic ACW Union Regiment (120 points)

Glad to be back participating in this entertaining challenge again.  Thanks to Curt and all the minions for all the work involved.

New for me this time will be an ACW project. BruceR's wonderful work last year on his ACW epic troops inspired me to start my own Warlord Epic ACW project. As I tend to do, I went a bit overboard buying the Gettysburg set, Iron brigade and additional artillery from Old Glory.  Hope to make a big dent in my Gettysburg set this challenge while touring my way through Dante's Inferno via my 28mm lead mountain. As before I will do my best to include a female guide for each theme as I attempt to paint more of my Pulp Figures females.

This week’s entry will be a regiment of three stands of 20 men for the Union Army. I am planning on a few different shades of blue to differentiate units on the field.  First up is the 115 PA with Contrast Celestrial Blue and Briar Chill for the uniform coat & pants. Contrast Black, Foundry and Vallejo acrylics for the rest of the figure with a diluted Vallejo game wash to tie it all together.

It's great to have you back with us Tom and it looks like you have your work cut out for you this Challenge! This Gettysburg opener of a Union regiment is really terrific. Those two contrast shades have done the trick, especially the Briar Chill for the trousers. I know you want to try different approaches but you might be onto a great 'recipe' for the Union here.

I look forward to seeing what else you have in store for us this Challenge!
